This year, I'm making money (and GOLD)! Specifically, I'm going through the history of money and recreating the various forms of currency as they evolved through history. In this video, I explore both the origin of money and learn how to extract my own precious metal from the earth.
Thank you to Alan Chenworth for his help, check out his book to learn more about gold panning in Utah: goo.gl/LPPrXF
Thank you to our talented interns Randi and Donna (donnalynnart.com) who helped with the animations once again!

Today, getting what you need is as easy as a trip to the store. From food to clothing, energy, medicine, and so much more, Andy George will discover what it takes to make everything from scratch. His mission is to understand the complex processes of manufacturing that is often taken for granted and do it all himself. Each week he’s traveling the world to bypass the modern supply chain in order to harvest raw materials straight from the source. Along the way, he’s answering the questions you never thought to ask.

Great video, especially with the gold panner's commentary over the thing. Even if something is too specialized for me to understand, beats the hell out of a video that panders.

This channel deserves +5million views more than makeup channels. He is so dedicated to every step of the process, fantastic filming, and editing and he choses great people to learn from who come across well on screen whilst their specialist skills are being showcased. Fatastically informative, amazingly produced. Better than a lot of big-budget televisoon documentary series.A network needs to pick this up.

Gold Price Per Gram $43.57 Gold Price Per Ounce $1,355.10 Gold Price Per Kilo $43,567.44. while panning is physically demanding, it is also fun, which pays for the entire trip even if no gold is found. I wish I could pan for gold in my state but its illegal even on property i own. according to my state, all gold and silver thats found in streams in my state etc even if it is on your own property all belongs to the state.

It’s pretty decent. Anyone looking for an authoritative history of The earliest human economics should seek out Dr. James C. Scott’s lectures on TH-cam.
The earliest currencies were most likely grains themselves, which were seized as taxes by what was essentially a protection racket which became governments as they grew, developed writing systems and formalized debts.

I love panning for gold but we don't really have any here in Arkansas and I just have to do it the rare times I travel out west on vacation. I mean, we might have a little somewhere but I've never been able to find it. These videos remind me of a time when I actually felt like doing hobbies. I used to have a new hobby every week when I was younger. Woodworking, blacksmithing, gold panning, metal detecting, horticulture, chemistry, electronics, etc... Now I just can't get myself to do them anymore. I guess I'm getting old and tired and don't have the will to have hobbies. I'd like to change that though..

I would love to go panning for gold, wouldn't even know where to start with it though but maybe someday. For now it's just satisfying to watch.

Love the series... I do think if you had to do these activities in varying amounts everyday you would get good at all of them. How much of these new skills do you go back to regularly to see if you can still manage the process? If we all had to do everything the hard long way we'd all get really good at everything.

It isn't about making money. This is what a lot of people don't seem to understand. It's a hobby that makes some of its money back that you spend on it.
Like metal detecting, it isn't something a sane person would ever attempt to do to make a living.
It's fun and it keeps you out of trouble and you get to look at and hold a little shiny when you're done.
Not only that, it adds up.

A black pattie hose works better than the sponge because you can distinguish between the gold and other minerals. A funnel strainer works extremely freaking well to separate the smaller pieces of gold nuggets as well as gold dust when panning for it.👌🦚

Dunno if there's anywhere to do it in Derbyshire but that'd be cool
