    thank you very much! always such a joy when you put out zbrush tips! do you know of any techniqes to make meshes semi automatically a bit more polygonal? with this technique too i see and dynamesh/shadowbox the resulting shapes are very soft sometimes. In photoshop there's something like cutout, I thought something like claypolish would do it but i can't really figure it out. Do you have any suggestions other than manually hpolishing things, something to get one started in that direction?

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto
      @AleksMarkeljFoto  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could try with Polish by Feature / Group / Crisp Edge under Deformations. This is one way to get crisper look automaticlly.

    how do you go about getting the picture and preparing it in photoshop to use alpha so it can be used on model?

  • @lisetteruiz01

    Hi when I use a rectangular image to create an ALPHA wheb I drag it on the cube it looses ita rectangular form ( the corners) and become roundish shape. Is there any correction for this?

    How to snap the mask?

  • @rfcesq5474
    @rfcesq5474 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the tutorial. Quick question. When I use alphas for masking, they always end up masking to the other side of the model. I can't find the setting to stop this (if there is one). I notice in your video you did not have that problem. How did you do it? Thanks!

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto
      @AleksMarkeljFoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Cathcart Its possible. Just hold Ctrl and go to Brush menu on top and under Auto Masking you should turn on BackFaceMask. Then it will only affect one side of your model. But make sure you are holding Ctrl (so you have your masking brush selected) or the BackFaceMask will apply on your modeling brush.

    • @rfcesq5474
      @rfcesq5474 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I discovered that the problem occurs when I use the Rect stroke (as opposed to the DrawRect stroke). I used this stroke to keep the aspect ratio of the alpha (by selecting "square"). Don't know how to lock the aspect ratio with DrawRect. Just have to eye-ball it, I guess.
      I tried your suggestion, but it didn't seem to make a difference with the Rect stroke. I'd be curious if you get the same error with the Rect stroke.

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto
      @AleksMarkeljFoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Cathcart it looks like that Rect masking technique does "ignore" the BackFaceMask. I suggest if you want a specific size of the mask, that you use DragDot - just size the brush to the size yo want the mask to be + make sure you set FocalShift of the masking brush to -100 to get opaque mask.
      p.s. in my original message I ment "hold Ctrl" not "Alt" :)

    In R7, holding Shift when dragging to create the object doesn't snap it to the view.

    How can i move alpha on surface like insert mesh with space?

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto
      @AleksMarkeljFoto  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Yuri Nereta Under Stroke you must select DragDot. Just hold CTRL and on left top select DragDot (Not DragRect). The mask is then moveable but not resizable. The size of mask is determined by the size of brush.(DrawSize).

    do you have tutorial on creating those alphas ?

    • @AleksMarkeljFoto

      +Joz tissi I don`t have tutorial for creating that kinda alphas.
      I just found this kind of images, that I use for alphas on internet, or I use Photoshop to create them from images.

    Really nice tutorial!!!
    May I mention some stuff just your tutorials to look even better?
    1. Try to speak with more enthusiasm (all of us are already enthusiastic about ZBrush, and also with all of you tutorial makers that help us!). Enthusiasm talking helps a lot!
    2. Use some voice compressor plugin ( through Premier perhaps?). It's not too easy to follow the way your voice levels get low and high.
    3. Use some music intro, even music between the times that you don't talk (overdub)
    4. Try not to move the mouse point as too much and fast as you do, makes you dizzy! Check out Andrew Cramer's tuts to get what I mean!
    Keep up the good work!
    Thank you!

      Not all are native English speakers, so for some of us speaking doesnt come natural, so, some of us are more concerned of implementing right words, and that doesnt mean the lack of enthusiasm , just attention focused on other things

    ZBRUSH is very complicated. You can't select your object by clicking on it. Once you draw from scratch and make polymesh 3d, you cant resize it. I spent 24+ for now and I am trying to design some jewelry. Don't blame me now if you guys are only using basic sculpting tools. It is complicated as fffff. Long live Photoshop CC logic!!!! :D:D
