    Work on these all the time. Big box stores love these with a bunch of expanders and popits. Just got one working with a Starlink Radio via Modem II format. These things are so ahead of their time.

    Seriously thanks for making these videos. I’ve had a massive interest in burglar alarm systems since a very young age, so thanks for helping me get my fix. It honestly sounds like that folder alpha keypad had a dual tone sound generator in it, and it sounds like in the newer ones they kind of downgraded it to a simple square wave generator. Love the fake bell sound for the siren. If you still have that Simon XT, I definitely think it would be fun to see more videos on it, especially the remote control function. I accidentally discovered with my panel that you can get into listening mode by pressing five on the telephone. Of course that isn’t anywhere in the manual

      Yeah I still do have the Simon, I just don't use it a whole lot since I'm locked out of its dealer programming. I'll get around to figuring that out eventually.

    Smart move no buzzer on the panel board! glad you acquired these panels. They are a staple of a once great alarm company in my opinion.

      Yeah that buzzer was driving me mad lmao, that was one of the first things I did was remove the buzzer.

      Yeah I appreciate it, I'll get a video made of the d620s working on the 6112 sometime soon.

      Yeah I try to show these old panels since nobody else really has the stuff to program and unlock them. They’re very reliable and featureful systems once you get them running.

    Nice overview, thanks.
    Can this panel be upgraded with a cellular communicator so I can ditch my landline?

    When the electricity went out my alarm which is the one you are showing started non stop beeping. How do you stop it from beeping when the electricity goes out? I tried everything it seemed.

    When did these systems with these panels come out I can’t find a date when they were made

    Hey, ive rented a space that used to be a old SEARS building and it has the radionics omega alarm d8112 with alpha 2 keypad. The system works, im trying to learn the keypad functions,your video is a great incentive for me to get this thing up and running. Do you have the default passcode for the keypad?

    My panel says “call for service” the person we called said we need a new panel? Is there something I can try to fix it?

    • @KJ7BZC
      @KJ7BZC  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on which specific model you have, but usually when this happens it means that the lithium battery has died on the main panel board. It's soldered in on most of the older systems and at the minimum will need to be replaced alongside a new program being loaded into the panel. I would have to suggest reaching out to a company that works with these systems, this process requires you to be familiar with programming them and being able to replace the battery properly.

    Those are really good panels still. BOSCH bought out Radionics in 1998. I got a D7412GV2C panel with a D1255TDPL keypad. Very reliable system and very difficult for a hacker to breach. I'll take BOSCH/Radionics any day over wireless app connected equipment.

    • @KJ7BZC
      @KJ7BZC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah they also last forever, still plenty of old ones out there working just fine. Even when they're connected to the network for reporting and remote programming, it's still impossible to connect without the RAMlock code due to how the protocol is designed.

    • @ryanyork837
      @ryanyork837 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KJ7BZC Exactly a lot of people just don't want to spend the money on them but they are very good systems. Today standard they're more of a commercial system than a residential alarm system. Plus I like the vacuum Flores and display read out. It's easy to see when you got bad eyesight. Mine has a vacuum display in red most of them are like a blue green color display on the read out.

    • @KJ7BZC
      @KJ7BZC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without looking at it I can’t really tell what the issue would be. If the system doesn’t seem to have power at all, it may have had its transformer unplugged accidentally, they are sometimes located in closets or near the panels enclosure. Otherwise, i’d suggest you have an alarm company look at it, they could help further than I can.

    Could I hook up a Bosch D1255 to a Radionics D2112 and have it work?

    • @KJ7BZC
      @KJ7BZC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm late, but a D1255 isn't compatible with the D2112. You'll want a D220 or D223 keypad for the D2112 panel.

    Whoa!!! These are a very rare panel now days. Even 15-16 years ago we only had a few of these left in service. They were quite the panel for their time. Any chance you have a D7112? That was a very oddball system.

    • @KJ7BZC
      @KJ7BZC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Surprisingly I still think we monitor a few 8112s at work, they last forever. I’m still looking for a 7112, along with the d1254 keypads, hopefully i’ll be able to save one sometime and make a video on it. To my knowledge they were not a very successful panel compared to the 9000 series.

    • @KJ7BZC
      @KJ7BZC  ปีที่แล้ว

      The D1255 is for the 7000/9000 series and will not work on the 8112 panel. You'll need a D1252 VFD keypad, or the D360 LED keypad.
