  • Most of us do not have the same size for our waist and hip and this can add an extra opportunity when we sew to customise for an amazing fit. I am sharing 2 very practical examples with hands on work on the pattern pieces to get a smooth result between sizes while also including details like pockets and facings.

This is gold! I am saving it for when I get around to making pants with a zipper.

I just bought this pattern based on your video from the 9th. I've been looking for an elastic back/zipper front pattern!

I can’t wait for the Nellie Jogger video! I love Pattern Scout’s top videos but haven’t tried the pants. I have a whopping 2-4” difference in waist to hip, so another reason I’ve not tried those yet. Have you played with the Top Down Center Out method of pants fitting yet? Wow - it’s a game changer for making pants that actually fit. It was in the summer 2022 issue of Threads magazine, too.

I’m not going to use that pant fitting method. There are several things with it that I don’t agree with and the method was made for wide looser pants and not fitted styles like this.

Thank you for this helpful fitting tutorial. The paw print muslin fabric makes me smile. ❤ I 'm looking forward to your video about the joggers.

Thank you! This is so much easier than blending individually like I used to do. My daughter has a waist two to three sizes smaller than her hips and I blend every pattern.

I used to do piece by piece before too. Takes a long time.

Karina, This information was so helpful! If I ever decide to wear pants. I'm going to refer back to your videos.
    I have a rectangular shape.

Such good instructions - I always have problems with the hip being too pronounced and stick out at a weird angle. Your videos are so educational and if I buy a pattern I always to check if you have made it. Thank you for the time and effort you put into them and your makes always look so professional.

I’ve always had to grade sizes with every pant pattern, and shorten the front rise and add to the back rise.

It's different for me with each pattern brand, sometimes many changes and sometimes minimal.....that's why I take each one separately with its own unique approach.
