the thing that sucks for Dwight is that he simply came into an era in the NBA that has a rule set that doesn't benefit the post and paint play, to me its very obvious it benefits perimeter player especially for guards.
Dwight Howard reminds me of David Beckham. Has a lot of talent but won't allow himself to use it. I predict that he will be very good in the next ten years when he is older and more mature. Lets forget the first ten. At least he can play defense. If he couldn't then he has no hope. He does have hope of winning the ring.
I do agree that most of D12's problem is his mentality. That being said, I'm thinking the main problem on his jump hook to the middle is that when he's gathering the ball and pivoting, he's not getting low. if you're standing straight up, you have no leverage, and the defender is lower, he can leverage you all you want. there's a part during the video during the post-entry feed when hakeem's telling d12 he's standing too straight, which is why he's getting pushed out. i'd imagine... (cont)
... this applies to him doing the jump hook as well. I mean, ppl tell you to hold the ball high when going into the jump hook so it doesn't get stripped. But D12 IMO should get low to get that leverage and just squeeze the ball harder.
I feel like people too easily have forgotten the turmoil he caused in Orlando. SVG fired, called his teammates nobodies, asked his teammates to "know their roles", but was asking for the ball with no moves whatsoever, and missing free throws. Did the same thing in LA. Howard has a "it's never my fault" approach and that's why he isn't better. He told Nash to STFU when he was giving advice for free throws. Nash... the guy with 90% FT%. Bynum is a better center than him, he just isnt healthy
i watched the entire video. it's interesting that dwight howard says he can't do a 2-footed jump hook into the middle because he feels like he's getting pushed off (hence why he goes to that running hook into the middle). hakeem wasn't the strongest center in the nba, and he's doing the jump hook just fine. isn't dwight supposed to be the strongest center in the nba right now? there's probably some other fundamental issue with dwight howard's gather into jump hook besides his shooting touch.
LOL got him. I'm a (bitter) Laker fan and it's not due to the fact he left. He hasn't gotten any better, or developed his game. He promised to work with Kareem, that didn't happen. He asked for more touches, and couldn't convert (FT either). It's his mentality. He only has a couple moves, and for being the most athletic center he can't muscle REAL centers. I love GSW but they didn't have Bogut... Beidrins and DLee... defensive liabilities. Lastly he asked to boot the coach and Kobe...
dwight should just do footwork drills up and down the court all day then get into these demonstrations and stuff.. He looks uncomfortable moving the way the dr34m wants him to.
i hope even if he uses 1/4 of what Hakeem thought him he'd be a better player. he has a weak post game and it's not like he's a big center where it wouldn't matter then. he's more like a power forward.
For you Howard haters or butt hurt Lakers fans (only the but hurt ones)... Go look a Dwight Howard vs Warriors were he had 45pts 23rbs... He used most of these moves in that game... with only limited teachings from The Great Hakeem... Imagine what he about to do with a year...
Interesting. Dwight plays more like shaq minus four inches and a ton of weight. He's still the best centre in the league, he can effect the defensive end, hopefully he can develop better footwork and post moves as he loses athleticism.
I agree. Bad fundamentals. He is not collecting before he goes up. Running hook shots are fine if you can make them, but historically his running hook is a low percentage shot. Howard really needs to go back to the basics. His release on his shot is horrible, his footwork needs to improve, and he just doesn't know how to use his strength. And the worst part... it's all mental.
d12 is so gifted physically, but i agree he s a slow coach at getting low post basics, did anybody see him doing those moves ingame ? very, rencently he improved his "in the paint" acting but he s far from what a center MUST do on offense, and he s not mature enough to defend at 100% of his capacity. if he works hard and get those fundamentals on offense he would be undefeatable
If Dwight has half the moves of Brad Daugherty or James Edward, he will be a beast in offense.
Dream makes it look so easy. Years and years of hard work and dedication. At least he is trying to better his game from the best ever.

noooooooooooooooope
Imagine Hakeem would have played for the 90s Bulls…. They would have been unstoppable
Why does everyone hate on dwight?!?!?!?

I am now considerably worried about next season.

this is from 2011. HOPEFULLY he improved since then
Spoilers: He hasn't
The problem of d12 is he doesn't pay much attention seriously of what The Dream taught him.
I think same you. If you wanna be a amazing center, you need hear all words that The Dream tell you.

He seems Sooo confused?!
it's different. if you watched the entire video, you'd understand that.
seems he doesn't really understand what Hakeem said

"where"
Dwight was always just still as fuck and had no rhythm to his moves

Dwight Look Fuckin Hard Headed He Needs Footwork training and plenty of it

This is just sad. He has zero confidence in his own ability. You would think Hakeem was teaching a high school kid.
I'll take Roy Hibbert any day over Dwight. At least as of lately..
WitnessMELOx15 hahaha I'll take Dwight these days
you sure?

3 thumbs down from David Robinson, Patrick Ewing and Shaquille Oneal!
?? David Robinson had a jumpshot in the paint
