Kobe's IQ is off the charts. These dudes, Stat and Mcgee are just mostly moving off ability and not brains. It's really why so many people love Kobe. He pushed both aspects and still does despite his body getting ancient (in b-ball yrs).
Hakeem, you'll always be my all-time favorite player. The game you played is a dying art which needs to be revived especially with the 3-point laden game that is played far too much today. I could go on and give last year's NCAA Championship as a lesson as to why we need big men especially when the nerves are high and the shots aren't falling, but that's for another conversation. I'm writing this to get you to, hopefully, do more videos like these. There are no better lessons than from those who have been there, done that, and have the rings to prove it.
I mean everyone starts at some point. I'm sure with more practice they could get alot smoother. But it is kinda surprising an NBA level player being stiff doing basic moves
JaVale you know will gorget everything once he gets back on the court and instead try to dunk on people. awesome video but not everyone can be as smooth as Hakeem. can't wait for his shoes to come out.
He a great role player he don’t try to do too much does what needs to b done.. understands the game and plays hard on both ends. Bout all u can ask for in any player, looks as he’s puttin in the work to get to another level..
Hakeem talks a lot about mentality and dominating, McGee is showing up Amare in the early drills and you can tell he isn't taking it a serious. During the pressure of the game, hard work and technique shows as there is a tremendous amount of footwork which could be called travels.
Nah. It's just elite footwork- he hops and lands on both feet (at the same time) setting either foot as a pivot foot. You know what's travelling? James Harden's 3 step stepback and Lebums crab dribble l
@@pocketaces777 The split step landing isn't my issue. Again, if you watch ap lot of his spin moves after the split catch he is terminating the dribble. It's the paint version of what they allow Harden to do on the perimeter. They only count once the ball has been gathered. But they ignored that the dribble has been terminated and frozen with one hand not being in the 9 to 3 position. Hakeem's hand is pat about 5 o'clock.
They just need a couple mics and to stop using the built-in mic on the camera. Maybe some lav mics clipped to a shirt or a shotgun mounted on a boom would make a big difference. But that might require some knowledge. No ez auto set audio levels... but a lot less time consuming than subtitles.
amare and mcgee travel on a lot of the counter moves because they forget to jump stop so either pivot foot can be used. Instead they 1-2 it and move their pivot when it can't come of the floor. Other times out of feel and motion they don't travel but can't complete the move that Hakeem showed them becuase they can't move the foot that needed to move. It doesn't matter though cos neither of them used any of these moves in a game.
lol its like the porzingis one earlier this year when the hype was in its infancy, he made the shot, but homeboy was still in his face. You have to sell the shake get them up cant do a little shimmy, if you think a shimmy works, check up and tie ur shoes tight
His biggest problem besides his decision making is his horrible footwork. If he worked that he would be an excellent rim protector and a lot better on the offense, kinda like what Nene did last year (but with great atleticism)
Amare does not listen...lol he just wanna do his own thing....these guys are using there raw power in these moves and set ups instead of thinking and playing and using the finesse style that ola played with.
those guys are to stiff to pull the dream shake effectively. they won't fake out anyone but themself. they have to think to much about the moves while hakeem did it effortless.
I disagree when it comes to mcgee, but amare and dwight howard are 2 of the most stiff basketball players of all time, they need to go to yoga or something while lifting weights, cuz they've lost all flexibility.
Cain Beezle Muscle memory can only help you so much. It is very difficult to learn smoothness and fluidity. It's more about rhythm, kind of like dancing.
Pseudonym dafuq? scientifically speaking, you can train a human to relearn anything. dwight is left handed, but he broke his left hand when he was younger, so he taught himself to shoot with his right. no one ever adjusts ingame. they train in the offseason with hakeem and practice during the summer and preseason at camp, practices, and shootarounds. and it only looks robotic because he is trying to emulate hakeem's moves... which is NOT the point. olajuwon is trying to teach the concept of infinite counter moves in the forward/center position.
these lessons are overrated...Hakeem may teach them all the moves but they still gotta develop the instincts to know when to apply which move and how...game situations...you can teach Javale every move in the playbook he still wont know when and how to apply it...its still a judgement call...theres no definite answer...
jessesam yeah but these players aren't MJ or Olajuwan they cant pull it off exactly like they do it the only one who has an identical fadeaway to Jordan is Kobe lol
Hakeem is beautiful to watch.
i never saw them use any of these moves in a game. the only person i saw using these moves is kobe
totally
Kobe's IQ is off the charts. These dudes, Stat and Mcgee are just mostly moving off ability and not brains. It's really why so many people love Kobe. He pushed both aspects and still does despite his body getting ancient (in b-ball yrs).
so damn right.

great instructional. really see the love for the game.
The stiffness is real with these two guys....both Kobe and Mello made this look so much smoother !
Lol people don't realize Javale McGee isn't actually that bad of a player.
he's scronnie tho
He a great role player he don’t try to do too much does what needs to b done.. understands the game and plays hard on both ends. Bout all u can ask for in any player, looks as he’s puttin in the work to get to another level..
This aged well
That's 3 time nba champion Javale Mcgee!
He's just derpy and makes for funny content lol
Hakeem talks a lot about mentality and dominating, McGee is showing up Amare in the early drills and you can tell he isn't taking it a serious. During the pressure of the game, hard work and technique shows as there is a tremendous amount of footwork which could be called travels.
Damn No Chill Gil this popped up in my algorithm (Travel)
Javales jump hook could low key be unguardable
Javale, what the fuck are you doing there?
John Lemon practicing lol
Hakeem teaches a lot of traveling. He just travels smooth. A lot of these spin moves are three or four steps with the dribble being terminated.
Nah. It's just elite footwork- he hops and lands on both feet (at the same time) setting either foot as a pivot foot. You know what's travelling? James Harden's 3 step stepback and Lebums crab dribble l

Since when the hell does the modern NBA care about traveling?
good stuff
LEGEND
Nice and smooth
It would benefit me to have subtitles with this channel. I'd appreciate knowing what the players are saying. Can you make that happen?
They just need a couple mics and to stop using the built-in mic on the camera. Maybe some lav mics clipped to a shirt or a shotgun mounted on a boom would make a big difference. But that might require some knowledge. No ez auto set audio levels... but a lot less time consuming than subtitles.
I did the post moves before at the Memorial Park
Did it work ?
+Sweet Uce Yeah
Out of all the Olajuwon tutorials i have watched, Carmelo was the only one that "got it."
How about kobe??
amare and mcgee travel on a lot of the counter moves because they forget to jump stop so either pivot foot can be used. Instead they 1-2 it and move their pivot when it can't come of the floor. Yea and the NBA now hardly ever calls travels anyways so they would be fine even if they did use it lol
Nice move
2años practicando estos movimientos no son nada de faciles!!
Javale surprised me.
Javale is just fn around while stoud is taking it serious
Hakeem still looks smoother than the both!
00:46 stoudemire should of made that
Hakeem - Poetry in motion
lmao that head/torso fake Javale hit at 1:19 is fooling nobody
why? I think he did a pretty good job there.
That's actually hard to do lol he must be a good dancer
lol its like the porzingis one earlier this year when the hype was in its infancy, he made the shot, but homeboy was still in his face. You have to sell the shake get them up cant do a little shimmy, if you think a shimmy works, check up and tie ur shoes tight
It was funny as hell that’s why hakeem and the camera man laughed 😂
workin man
why Amar didn't try to use hook like Javale Mcgee. It's a good way to avoid bock in contest
hakeem might as well be teaching a couple of bowling pins!!! these two clowns....
Stat traveling
Javala McGee we see you baby 😂😂😂😂 Shaqtin a fool legend
shows how much you guys know about basketball. javale has a great work ethic and is skilled... he just doesnt make the best decisions
truth
He's not skilled. He can rebound and catch lobs blocks and that's about it.
His biggest problem besides his decision making is his horrible footwork. If he worked that he would be an excellent rim protector and a lot better on the offense, kinda like what Nene did last year (but with great atleticism)
03:11 airball
Amar'e isn't doing his moves as fluently or as quick as Javale is Mcgee is doing the whole move causing him not to fade away as much
"Amar'e Stoudemire don't do jump hooks"
Amar'e is so clumsy
try dat
13 minutes of travels
Lol Hakeem talkin shit about javale at 13:25
No wonder JaVale is GOAT
Lol javales move at 9:05
Amare does not listen...lol he just wanna do his own thing....these guys are using there raw power in these moves and set ups instead of thinking and playing and using the finesse style that ola played with.
man, i know so many refs call that first step a travel..
Ok we know Javell has learned absolutely zero lol although he looks fairly decent here😂
javale was much more smoother than stat
I don't know, maybe his knees are just screwed up??
I wonder how much they pay hakeem
1:22 Hakeem Rage!
WTF Javale is doing there?LOL
jump hook lol
thought it was just me. Stat and Javel get a D put together
Javale head fake is on point stat was stiff.
Hakeem these players are too stupid to read defense, you need to teach them with defenders in front of them so they can know their coordination.
those guys are to stiff to pull the dream shake effectively. they won't fake out anyone but themself. they have to think to much about the moves while hakeem did it effortless.
Cain Beezle no they are stiff you cant teach that out of someone
***** it will always be robotic never can adjust ingame
Pseudonym dafuq? scientifically speaking, you can train a human to relearn anything. dwight is left handed, but he broke his left hand when he was younger, so he taught himself to shoot with his right.
no one ever adjusts ingame. they train in the offseason with hakeem and practice during the summer and preseason at camp, practices, and shootarounds.

both of them are too stiff compare with hakeem
but mcgee dominates stat for sure
ya somehow true
mcgee is too dump sometimew
Well damn everyone trains with olujuwan whats the point now if everyone is doing the same moves lol
jessesam that's my point lol everyone knows the move so its gonna be easier to stop
jessesam yeah but these players aren't MJ or Olajuwan they cant pull it off exactly like they do it the only one who has an identical fadeaway to Jordan is Kobe lol
Lol that was funny but I know you weren't serious lol
