Unfortunately, international flights with bikes are NOT as simple as domestic flights. I have made about a dozen international flights with a bike. 2 of the 12 trips were a disaster that resulted in buying a new bike and renting a bike. So, even if you are an experienced international traveler, traveling with bikes it does not get any easier. Oh, and BTW, on one trip (1995?), I had to pay customs duty to be able to take possession of my bike returning to the US unless I had proof of purchase in the US.
@@Barhighendurance Yep... But, I got my money back about 3 months later after I mailed the proof of purchase to Customs. BTW, that was trip from Canada to the US. It was US customs that did the insane customs charge. Never heard of it... and, never heard of it ever happening to anyone - ever.

Wow you had to pay customs that is insane! So it’s all luck eh either you get it or you do no matter how prepared you are haha
