- hi, in this video the main character from the famous video game "Madeline the Hedgehog" played a game of "who blinks first loses", and because Madeline is a huge brain gamer she decided to close her eyes and never opening them again, therefore avoiding all possible blinking. then she decided to climb a mountain for some reason.

@@civel Unfortunately the footage is a bit messy, with tons of background noises (I live in the family house) throughout the whole run, and even my mom entering the room a few times during the recording, so I can't just drop the whole 22 hours of unedited footage (without even taking into account the fact that 22 hours of footage would literally take like 4 full days to upload, and would eat up all of my monthly data)
I could try to trim it down to only the successful attempt for each room and cut the audio on the parts where we hear background noise to avoid both of those issues while still showing the setups, but I don't think I'm willing to spend the time to go through all the footage again

As someone with a pretty good understanding of celeste's mechanics and speedrunning strategies, I cannot imagine trying to beat the game without the ability to see.
i was fully expecting the answer to be that you just learned to echolocate and i was not disappointed

I absolutely love your editing, making your camera go transparent when Madeline is behind it, the nice editing of showing how your memory warps at 14:10, I'm not even done with the video and I am 100% subscribing
The amount of time not only doing this difficult challenge must've been, but to also make a 1 hour video out of it, (doing scripting, editing, etc.) Had to have taken a lot of dedication. You definitely earned a sub.
You could also remove the monitor entirely after opening celeste, it would be funny to see you staring at the wall

for chapter 3, i would've used a metronome and timed it for each room to know when the dustbunnies move.
a lot of the technical stuff with regards to different types of dashes/jumps has always confused me, but you explained it really well! that's an impressive feat on its own to me

For a good bit of the beginning I was like “hey, why aren’t these strats normalized or super consistent?” Then I remembered that it was a challenge run and not a speedrun.

@@DanrayHT Thanks for the tip but I'd much rather use my own internet for that, firstly for security reasons, and secondly because even though my internet is pretty slow, uploading the video from home would still be faster than driving to the closest internet cafe (i really live in the middle of nowhere, hence why my internet is bad), on top of also being a lot more convenient

38:33 chapter 6 has a few paths you can take meaning this room is completely optional and you could try a path with possibly easier rooms.

1600 deaths in chapter blindfolded? I got almost trice that amount with my full vision for 6A. (not mentioning some screens in 6B making 800 deaths for me).
To be fair, I already had over 200 hours played before even starting this challenge
@@Rhododo Yeah, I understand you played a lot, not started blind. Still my expectations was in thousands of deaths for each chapter. especially when you say you get like few hours in single room. I guess I underestimated time between each death to make slow and steady setups.
I’m happy that it just happened to release on April Fools, and wasn’t purposely released on April Fools. Congratulations! This looked like it took a lot of work, and the video is funny!

I'd love to see (pun not intended) blindfolded runs being pushed to it's limits!
I like how the entire video is basically a neural network learning the complete the game. This sounds like an idea CodeBullet might do
I bet you could use Mr Oshiro’s head noice to figure out the positions of the oscillating red blobs, which could make the run more consistent. E.g. if he charges you at a consistent interval, then you would have a snapshot of the red blobs locations.
You could also use a metronome, or the game music, to give you a approximation of where the oscillating red blobs were too.
I think Oshiro's pattern is a bit awkward and changes depending on your position on the screen, so it would probably be a bit awkward, but yes the game music definitely would've helped. I've decided to mute the game music though since a heavily edited video has cuts everywhere, so that's kind of incompatible with in-game music, it would basically make the audio of the footage unusable.
With the exception of chapter 3 this is a pretty good tutorial for the A-side goldens.

You should put up a guide on your strats to see if this run can be optimized into a speedrun category.
With more people working on it, I bet some of the tougher Resort rooms can be normalized on death cycle.
Another idea for ridge is to see if blockless can be done on a normalized setup given how inconsistent controlling the blocks is. Great work!

Oh my gosh I can't watch this... I gave up trying to beat Celeste myself (normally, not blindfolded or anything) in the first room where 3 copies of Badeline spawn because it was waaaay too hard for me and you just breeze through that room BLINDFOLDED like it's nothing, I'm actually crying 😭
