Nice!! Haha, believe it or not, my main Steam Deck game is currently GZDoom, which is totally CPU single core bound, so a nice 1 core overclock could help within the same TDP. I'll be testing this out! But when it becomes stable.
That game may show good results with only a cpu overclock. Indian Summer season here so the temps were high, I think that's why I couldn't get the cpu to overclock. Not sure what valve's thermal limit is, max apu tdp is still limited to 15watts so temper your expectations.
@@dannyd4339 yeah right? What are you playing now? I'm trying to complete a run of Brutal Doom Platinum + Eviternity on UV and hells those wads are hard. But almost there, I'm at level 23 now. Also I tried the overclocking the other day and got the same results as you @GamingDJ4u. It never raised clocks past the default 3.5/1.6 so it seems tdp is the limiting factor. What did improve is the undervolting though, with the previous bios I could only go to -40/-40/-40 but I read someone on reddit mention that smokeless uv was more stable than bios uv so I tried if this new bios improved thins and yes, it allowed me to go to -50 on al three, so there's that.
unfortunately this still did not work for me I have been going crazy trying to update my BIOS I cannot get it to work! I am just at a total loss I can't get this stupid damn thing to update the BIOS
Bios versions can differ depending on the motherboard revisions. Updating to steam os 3.6.9 beta should automatically install the latest bios on your steam deck.
You can use third party methods, need to downgrade the bios as well. I don't remember it much now, look it up on TH-cam. Won't work directly using power tools. However if you have steam deck lcd variant, I wouldn't recommend going over 15 watts profile. Already heats up a lot during summer season.
Brother you are the G.O.A.T itself. Thank youuu!! My steam deck it’s flying!!! That’s how it’s meant to be played for real!!

If I get this right, the BIOS changes increase the maximum clock the CPU/GPU can go to, as long as thermals and power limits are not exceeded right?

@@GamingDJ4u yeah, that makes sense. I'll let you know when I check it out
Dude same. My main game even on pc is gzdoom. So fun, so many possibilities and mods.

YOU ARE A BEAST!!
Any idea whether updating the BIOS addresses the issues with GPU clocks dropping to about 200mhz? I have the LCD model
Not sure, 200mhz bug is known to have many causes. A few of them may be addressed via this bios

I would be interesting to see CPU overclock on CPU bounded games. For example horizon FW has shuttering problems caused by CPU 🤔
Cpu oc didn't work for me in any game that I tried , I think it's due to the high temps. Apu max tdp is still limited to 15watts so can't expect much.
@@GamingDJ4u Can't you use PowerTools to exceed 15w and improve the temps by disabling the updated fan control?

so if I want to overclock my steam deck. Is it safer to just wait for the stable version?
No, bios has nothing to do with steam os version, you can even downgrade steam os after updating to the latest bios. Bios update will persist.
Hi please tell me os this running both underclock and overclock at the same time ?
Undervolt and overclock at the same time. Only gpu overclock worked for me though.
@@GamingDJ4u thank you I will give this a try as this build is now on preview.
@@crowland3358 you can switch back to stable steam os after updating the bios. Bios won't get downgraded.
Any news related to gfn coming in india?
No
Any reason why my cpu won’t overclock when I’m in game ?
Couldn't get it working as well
U need more power to get the most our of the oc
Can you put a higher limit on the ppt limit?
Can't go higher than 15 watts for the apu
Bro is this compatible to sd oled?
Yes
Is that for LCD or OLED? I heard it was only for OLED!
Released a few days ago for the lcd variant
👍🏾
Poor steam deck look at the state of it
its still a beast to this day
