This fixed my steam deck!!! Valve told me to kick rocks, literally nothing else worked. This worked beautifully!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH
Glad I was able to help
Bro you are genius
Thanks man 🙏🏻
That clip sure is a pain! Nice vid.
I have nightmares about it! Thanks!
Thank you! I managed to revive my SD!
Why we have to edit damaged bios file? Couldn't we just download clean one from somewhere on the internet?
Unfortunately, you can’t, each steam deck has a custom serial number in bios chip.
@@Diy_PapiWhat to do if there is no saving of working BIOS and of damaged BIOS? on steam deck BIOS is erased
Tring this, curious tho What caused the bad bios in the first place?
Bro you save my Deck, thanks a lot
Ur welcome glad I could help.
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you break your SD?
Did the clean BIOS file change on GITHUB? The F7A0115 file is different than in your video. Thanks for the help!
Let me double check
i program supercars for living, but never jumped start a bios, everything is easy down hill only thing is invest in a good clip is the only recommendation i can give. and most of the time i took was clipping the bios chip haha
The clip was by far the hardest part
Hello, I'm from Ecuador and I bought a Steam Deck with a black screen of death. According to the previous owner, he connected another generic charger and it stopped giving an image, but when he connected it to an external monitor The Steam Deck outputs an image to that external monitor, but nothing happens to the internal display.
Do you think this can fix it or is it something else wrong?
I already tried to re-flash in crisis mode but nothing, and update BIOS and things like that.
Hi,
Can you confirm it turns on with an external display?
If that’s the case I don’t believe this will help.
You can try restoring it to factory settings and updating over external display.
If that doesn’t work you may need a new display.
Thanks for your vids because I lost my OC when 3.5 launched and now smokeless and PBS/CBS Jupiter methods do not work so I’m going to reset EVERHTHING and hopefully downgrade bios and get powertools working like it used to.
Glad I could help, yea I’m on 113 bios on windows.
Thanxs
It’s my pleasure
my bios reads fine with the programmer but when i click to write the chip it does nothing ans displays "Current programmer: CH341
Old SREG: 11111111(0xFF), 11111111(0xFF)"
So are you saying you can copy but you can't write to the bios chip?
@@Diy_PapiI was unable to locate a source for purchasing the 1. 8V adapter in my country. I came across a forum where someone mentioned successfully flashing it without the adapter, but that was not applicable in my situation. The 3. 3V supply does not disable the write protection of this BIOS chip; only a 1. 8V supply can achieve that. I received the adapter, and everything functioned perfectly.
Unfortunately when I backed up my BIOS, the $DMI part, the serial number, had a lot of lines missing 😥So I guess it's over for my Steam Deck
That shouldn’t be the case
If you back it up, it should back up everything
Secondly, do you have any other bios?
Doesn’t matter how old it is
Any backed up by us should have the serial number
@@Diy_Papi I bought it second-handed. The only BIOS backup I have is the one missing part of the UID. But I think I have a resistor issue close to the BIOS chip. I'll try to fix it today and I'll get back to you.
I only have a brick steamdeck without a normal bios I backed up, can I solve it?
Yea, as long as you have the serial numbers from the bricked bios.
That’s exactly what happened to me
@@Diy_Papi Oh thank you. If you look at the video, the serial number is revealed, so isn't it possible for others to exploit it?
And I was wondering if it doesn't matter if the bios versions of Clean Bios and brick steamdeck are different. My brick steamdeck had F7A0131 in bios..
dude i got the same problem i got fail while i overclocking the deck 😂 did you try removing the battery? is that work?
Yea I did but I continued to tweek the vram voltage and then it wouldn’t boot anymore.
Battery and crisis mode couldn’t bring it back
Back up your bios lol
Bro mine same issue after oc but but it launched in windows once then shutdown then a day later it launched the steam logo to go to windows but shutdown. Do i have to do this process
Yeah, it sounds like it
@@Diy_Papi it fixed itself and went to an older bios and os
My Steam Deck bricked after update from valve. I’ve tried everything to fix this. When I saw your video I belived I could save my device. I’ve ordered the programmer, clipped it and…. The app says unknown chip. It’s empty. I don’t have backup of my bios
Are you sure the clip is on properly?
Which steam deck?
Is it LCD or OLED?
If it is an LCD, which release?
The bios does change from the older version, which which I have to the newer ones and I’m actually not sure where the bio ship is on the OLED
@@Diy_Papi Thanks for your reply! I managed that it was my usb extender problem. Plugged directly into front panel usb 3.0 and it’s read it correctly. Unfortunately when it booted it downloaded same update and bricked again 👍
After another flash I turned off my WiFi router and in desktop mode prevented bios update through console. Now I’m waiting for support answers what I should do.
P.s. now I have F7a0118 bios on it and it says in settings that F7a0131 is available. Do I better install it manually?
P.p.s. I have an LCD version but idk which revision
@@shiroi_yoru 131 runs fine, but if you ok with 118 version of bios you can stay on it
Im willing to try it. We will see what happens
How did it go?
@@Diy_Papi
It didn't fix the issue on my steam deck. So I bought a new one and returned the broken one for a full refund. 😆
Gangster
When i get to the step where you oaste the string of numbers i notice it doesnt paste them exactly, like the 00 column is missing 😮
Edit: managed to get the numbers exact and finished the process but screen still wont come on, only the haptics and fan.
Hmmm
From what I can tell its important to get it accurate, if your missing anything you can just add it in manually
This process took me a while to get perfect
Take your time and go slow
@@Diy_Papi flashed it again after manually editing the values to match yours, still no luck sadly, gonna give it one more shot. Does the AC adapter need to be plugged in before you press the power button ?
@@Diy_Papi for further context, I was doing a repaste and I got the slow blinking light once everything was put back together. Didn't put it into battery saving mode before opening, managed to get the slow blink to stop but still wouldn't come on. Tried all manner of button combos as well as unplugging battery and still nothing.
All that's happening now is fans spin on and off before continuously spinning and haptic feedback but no screen light.
No, the AC power does not need to be plugged in as long as there is power in the battery
Sounds like you’re moving in the right direction, try plugging it into an external display and see if you can get a picture out of it
Do you not have a back up bios?
@@Diy_Papi I do, made sure to keep the original bios. Ended up sending it in for repairs and they told me they had to replace the main board as well as the trigger buttons and battery. Pretty sure those were fine and they just wanted to tack on extra stuff to charge more but now I'm waiting on it to return in the mail.
I've taken apart many different gaming consoles to repaste and the steam deck is by far the most finicky lol just gonna leave it alone when I get it back 😅
Bro i stunted on they azz and desoldered the bios chip. Now im bout to write on it. Holla at yo boi player
Gang Gang
mine doesnt want to read nothing
If it’s not reading anything, I guarantee it’s because that clip isn’t on properly
No bullshit it took me hours to get it to work properly
Just don’t give up bro
@@Diy_Papi i fkd it all up bro and ended up tearing the plastic pins of the clip and now it slips. i tried bending the copper pins on the clip to make it so it clears the inductor that for some reason is too close to the bios. imma order a new clip itll take a while to come through tho
@@Diy_Papi i also just got random values. when i pressed the question mark button, when its disconnected i got FFFF but sometimes it kind of contacted and got random values each time i pressed the question mark button. do u think its just fkd now?
I got a broken steamdeck for free. It has the blank screen issue.
Nice
