If you have ever forgotten a password for the VBA Projects then you know how frustrating that can be. No needs to worry anymore and in this video, you'll learn how to unlock VBA Project and the codes which get stored in it. In this method, you no need to use any paid software to unlock VBA Macro Code.
You can download the free Hex Editor tool from www.chmaas.hand....
Follow the below simple steps to unlock the Protected Excel VBA project
Step 1
Make a copy of your Macro enabled xlsm workbook.
Step 2
Change the file format of the Macro-enabled workbook from xlsm to zip
Step 3
Unzip the zip file. Go to xl folder and inside that you'll find a binary file called "vbaproject.bin"
Step 4
Open the VBA Project binary file using Hex editor. Find the word "DPB" and replace that with "DPx". Save the VBA Project binary file and close it
Step 5
Come back and zip it again with any naming convention with extension .xlsm
Step 6
Go to VBA Project- Tools- VBA Project properties. Unchecked the option Lock project for viewing in the Protection tab. Save and close the workbook
Step 7
Open the same workbook and now you can able to see the Modules and code reside in that. Congratulations You've successfully unlocked the VBA project code without using the password

I wanted to say, how can I protect my VBA Project and Macro codes in a different way than the classic one (password protection). Because as you have shown in this video, the usual protection (by a password) can be opened by another user of my workbook

Tried doing this with Notepad instead of hex editor. I found the "DPB", changed the text and it didn't work. It removed VBA entirely.

I lost all my modules running office 365 2024 updates. I used the same Hex editor as in the video too.

did not work for me with .xlsb file...my excel file was save as binary to lessen the file size
Worked to remove the password but the VBA code is gone. I have a backup but it is password protected and when I try to remove the password with this process, the same thing happens (no password but no code as well). What should I do? Thanks!

Hi got to the point where you rename the zip file to xlsm and then open. However once past all the warnings I clicked enable macros warning and now the file closes down and won't reopen. I am guessing I should not have clicked enable macros.

Hai, i need cell to be auto lock with the specific value. Example C1 is 5000 (untill value get 5000 cell should not lock) cell to be lock only in condition =5000, please help
