In 2023, I made the very difficult choice to give up my leisure outside of work (reading, TV, movies, etc.) to study for my Series 7 and 66 to become a Financial Planner. Reading isn't a bad habit - it's a great one! So why would I stop reading? Much like what Thomas discussed in this video - it did not support my goals for the end of the year. I worked hard, and I passed! Now I can read all I want because I temporarily made the difficult choice to eliminate something I love to make my life easier and hit my goals.
Thanks, my guy! Took a lot of work. Anyone can absolutely do the same. A year ago, I had no motivation or drive. Once you find a goal you really connect with - go all in, and you will be unstoppable. Vision is what drew me in. I learned (for me) that I'll always have time after the thing to do the things that I love. But now I feel much more fulfilled reading Lord of the Rings without having all the guilt I had before knowing I still had this goal, but making no progress towards it.
Congrats! I am studying for the LSAT right now and your comment is exactly the perspective I needed to hear. Once this LSAT is done, I look forward to a year of reading various books that I have long been wanting to tackle and enjoy.

This year I'm learning French and I've been struggling with it because I really need to grow my business and there's so many things I need to do on a daily basis that I have no time to study French as I wanted. In addition, I'm not achieving what I want for my business this year. Watching this video made me realize that, yeah, I enjoy learning languages this is one of my passions but it isn't helping me to build my business and it needs to be pause. Besides, there's other good thing that I need to cut temporarily from my life to achieve my goals for this year. Thank you, Thomas!

I've been creating content for 10+ years, so I've gone through many life changes and learned a lot over that time. Totally possible that you'll watch two videos from me, published years apart, that have different takes.
I don't have a problem at doing everything. But I do have a problem at try to do everything then realise it's hard and confusing so I quit and do nothing.
Exactly! And even within one pursuit, it's easy to fast-forward in your mind and expect yourself to produce something polished overnight, which is its own version of "everything". I struggle with it as well, which is why I sat down to do this. I wanted to get clear on what should be the priority NOW, and what the next step in each project is.
I study in China and on vacations right now (Chinese new year). It's so depressing (for foreigners), because many shops and public places are closed, tickets are hard to buy and kind of expensive. So all I do is just existing in my room these days. I'm glad that you are back after long period of time, this video will help me a lot, get me back on my rails
Don't threaten me with a good time :P On a more serious note - I don't have 3 guitars per room, but one "dumb" decision I did make years ago was to ignore the guitar-store guy's advice to keep my guitars in a case with a humidifier. I keep them all out, all around the house. Yes, they'll dry out and warp a few years sooner - but I get way, way more hours of playing time out of them.
I consider Thomas Frank as an undisputed expert in the field of learning; his videos stimulated me to write the computer program Focus on a task in the c# language, presented on my TH-cam channel, which helps me, first of all, focus on the task. But the ideas themselves were certainly emphasized, incl. and from a video by Thomas Frank. 👍💪💫
Hey Thomas I've been your subscriber for at least 9 years now. Idk why but I've never been able to finish any of your videos. When you speak do you read out of a screen? Your content is amazing it's just that I think the way you interact with your audience needs more emotion, and gestures. Just feedback
Good feedback! I don't use a teleprompter, but honestly I'm quite nervous in front of a camera when I'm recording a video that will be published later on. Still working on that, even 10 years later! Oddly, I don't feel nearly as nervous when I live stream. The stream archives on Thomas Frank Explains are how I wish I could speak when recording normal videos 😅

Last night I built a historic deck that punishes card draw with stuff like Sheoldred and Underworld Dreams. Then does a super flashy finisher with Peer Into the Abyss. Worked a lot better than I expected!
@@Thomasfrank Please do that sounds rad (thiiird channel? lol)! I have a janky toughness matters deck that I call “thick thighs save lives” it’s a lot of fun.
You made those pullups look so easy! I gotta get in the gym asap 😂
I just love that
happy new year, for y'all!
Welcome back king 👑
Good to realize that after 18 years of youtube 💪🏻
Tom - you and your family will LOVE Minneapolis. Glad you plan on heading here soon😊
This is great thanks!!
Welcome back 🔥
I can relate - thanks for making this :)
Is that cloud on the left doing a running man? 1:54
Holy crap you’re right
Can u please make a video on increase focus power
Wait! Can I get Ana De Armas as well?
Thanks T-Frank
Needed this!
May I ask, is what you're saying true? I've noticed there are always changes.
I've been creating content for 10+ years, so I've gone through many life changes and learned a lot over that time. Totally possible that you'll watch two videos from me, published years apart, that have different takes.
Thank you
I don't have a problem at doing everything.
Very cool.
4:15 tell me what?
Hey, CaptainSinbad lives in Minneapolis, so odd that two of my favourite youtubers of this genre would move to the same city
Will you make a video about how you became a CEO?
hey thomas, what is your microphon?
Welcome to Minneapolis!
Can you do a tour of your studio, a remake of "How I make videos" It seems like a lot has changed since the early days.
Air exist. Pressure is good. Great metaphor. :D
What AI did you use to edit this video?
Thomas is looking more and more like a model with each new video. He must have a hair stylist on site.
Naw! It's his wife's doing😊
what is the name of the app ? do i need to pay ? for android ? in brazil ?
“I should play more guitar!”
Buys 3 more guitars for each room in the house :o
Don't threaten me with a good time :P
On a more serious note - I don't have 3 guitars per room, but one "dumb" decision I did make years ago was to ignore the guitar-store guy's advice to keep my guitars in a case with a humidifier.
I keep them all out, all around the house. Yes, they'll dry out and warp a few years sooner - but I get way, way more hours of playing time out of them.
Great outfit change! T-shirt looks more natural on you somehow 😂
I have missed this :)
Great Video. 👍 I went through a similar reflection process this Christmas and the beginning of January. :)

Hey Thomas I've been your subscriber for at least 9 years now. Idk why but I've never been able to finish any of your videos. When you speak do you read out of a screen? Your content is amazing it's just that I think the way you interact with your audience needs more emotion, and gestures. Just feedback
I think a summary at the end would also help, sort of signaling it's the end of the video. This video doesn't really have an end...
Now try to learn Brazilian Portuguese this year, Would you take on the challenge?
Wasn’t on the list!
Has Thomas Frank start a new podcast? I miss the podcast 😢
Hmm new shirt = sponsor part. Not that old shirt would make a difference for the few seconds, but it snapped me. :D
I am facing this issue
Less is more, is an idea that can be so hard to live by
"Help my mom financially."
Win
We need some finance side of as your past work
Wait wait wait. did you just randomly said you play magic? Another great reason to follow you 🤣🤣
Is he going to tell us about the latest book he read?
In the "how do I get it" I saw 3 times "Move to Minneapolis" lmao I think you really want to move to Minneapolis 😂
We are indeed moving! I've been on the fence for years; sitting down to do this exercise and seeing it pop up multiple times clinched it.
