I look at it this way.. the team will make a deep run and hopefully make it to the big dance with or without Azzi. So if she comes back and makes a splash, it's gravy. It will be awesome if that happens, but the pressure shouldn't be on her to do anything except compete and enjoy her season. I believe she will get it done this season but I like the approach of having her work into the game and let her not be the spotlight. She's a huge talent.
I genuinely just want Azzi to come back and play with the smile she always has on her face. I do think her expectations as a player were too high unfortunately, and you see her over thinking when she plays, everything looks 100mph when she has the ball. I hope she can come back and play more relaxed in a smaller role. She seems like a super chill and nice person, it's unfortunate injuries have robbed her of being able to work on her overall game to meet expectations that she and everyone had.
Certainly, would be nice to see Azzi stay on the court to see what she can do over a year healthy other than the normal bumps and bruises. Nothing is a given, but she has done everything she can to play, and she has also maintained a positive attitude. Same with any player on any team. Best of luck to all.
Come on B2S Azzi is not a polarizing figure. She is just injury prone but that does not diminish her as a player or person. She will be fine especially if she is available for the entire upcoming season and there after. Add Gabby Williams of the Storm she used to be a world class high jumper in high school like her dad but had to give it up after two ACLs. She is now concentrating exclusively on basketball.and has played 6 yrs in the WNBA and in Europe and for France (as a starter) without having any further ACLs or complications. Azzi will be fine and her basketball career will be fine too.

She's a really nice young, and when she's not favoring her leg, she's one of the most explosive players in the game. She's one of a handful of players who can start a game 0-8, then score 25-30 in the second half.
Azzi Fudd plays a little bit like Gabby Williams, but she defers to Paige Too much when you are a superstar your act like it, Paige Walk, talks, and acts like a superstar, Azzi got the same talent that Paige, Caitlin, and KiKi Rice, Juju Watkins, and Olivia Miles got, so act like it

When Dudd is on, she's a good shooter. BUT SHE CAN"T GUARD A CHAIR. Dudd cannot play the point either. That was proved against Ohio State. But I place the blame on that embarrassing loss on Edwards. In Edwards two most important tournament games. Two years in a row she stunk up the joint.
I hope Azzi can have a successful comeback and secure her future at the next level if she chooses. The good thing about UCONN this season, as a whole is that the talent is there whether she plays well or not.

UConn fans should be wary. Even during her freshman season; she had foot problems. Have those been fixed? She did an acl in high school. She injured her knee her sophomore season. She tore her acl her junior season. She has been very injury prone SO FAR. I need to see her make it through at least 20 games before I allow myself to believe she will stay healthy.

I hate to see any player not reach their full potential because of injuries, especially a former #1 ranked recruit I also hate to use the word “overrated”in general especially when multiple injuries are part of the story. But I am not super optimistic about Fudd at this point. Injuries have completely defined and derailed her college career, she has been in college for 3 years and only played 42 games. Her last ACL tear, she supposedly was just shooting a routine jumper in practice when it popped. I hope she has a healthy season but even so, if I was building a WNBA team, I wouldn’t take her over some others who have a more well rounded game and maybe be better suited for the physicality of the WNBA. So I honestly think she should stay in college for 25-26 as well, though i can understand why she’d want to move on. I truly feel bad for her and I do understand it is possible to come back from this (an Olympic gymnast just won a silver medal after 3 ACL tears!) but I just don’t know.
If your draft number comes up and Azzi Fudd is available, you take her - unless there's a JuJu or Betts type, top-tier talent available. Most players don't make the cut so you always go for the best available player, regardless of injury history. Better to lose a pick than to give up a potential superstar. What if Seattle passed on Sue Bird? What if the Aces passed on Chelsea Gray? That's 6 championships between them and I think 4 ACL injuries.

Good video. I'm looking forward to seeing how the team looks at the. beginning of the season, probably without the services of Azzi, Ayanna Patterson, Aubrey Griffin, and Caroline Ducharme. If the players available at the beginning make up a really good team, then the gradual return of the injured is just a nice luxury. Or maybe the team on opening day will have some flaws that mean pinning hopes on the skills of the injured as they come back. It is all going to be quite interesting.
I think UConn's 24-25 season will depend in large part on how Jana El Alfy plays. Ice Brady has not been the shooter for UConn she apparently was in HS, and UConn needs a big who can score to balance the incredible variety of skill sets of the glut of guards on the roster. I suspect that Geno will have Paige play the 4, again, at least at the season's start, as the team has very few forwards who have proven themselves at the college level (until the return of Aubrey).
She had great games when healthy against NCST, Iowa, Stanford, Texas and Tennessee. 22 in the NCST 2 overtime game to get to the final 4. Good against Stanford to get to the title game. Bad against Ohio State. But, she played on 1 leg that game
Azzi isn’t the only question mark. I would put Rori Harmon and Olivia Miles up there too. I doubt all three have a healthy season. The odds are against that happening.
Kind of an odd ominous comment, I know expectations should be tapered for players coming back from injury, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be a bit less skeptical about players who suffered a first-time ACL injury. The situations aren’t equal to me. I’m less nervous about their chances of playing a full healthy season than I am about Fudd’s.

Ducharme and Griffin are a different story, they are right there with Fudd in that category of being very injury prone. I hate to say it but I’m not sure Ducharme will ever be able to continue playing basketball at this level. Griffin has had a couple ACL tears, back surgery. It’s a shame, I’m a fan of them but it’s a lot of setbacks.

This UCON team might be the greatest in history. Their schedule gives them some big challenges. SC for example. By the time they get to the tournament they might be the best tested team there. This is going to be AMAZING!

UConn shouldn’t dismiss them when they have such question marks in the frontcourt. It is fair to point out that people underrated South Carolina in the summer last year though. Not me, I bet on them before the season and won money when they won the title.
Azzi has been a bust at UConn. She was the #1 High School recruit, and her rating was obviously a mistake. She's been awful at UConn and an embarrassment to Geno, who took her. A terrible recruiting mistake.

UCONN has the luxury of having about 150 guards (on a 15 woman roster) so they can ease her back in, no need to push anything.
