    I love your pursuit of traditional and 100% natural remedies found in our beautiful environment here in Canada. Continuing knowledge that in many cases is outright ignored or favoured for “big pharma” remedies. In many cases this knowledge has been simply forgotten, with your efforts all of us can help repair our relationship with Mother Earth.

    absolutely love this. Did not know about Pine tea or even being able to eat the berries and leaves of Wintergreen. Didn't know chagra grew on Birch trees. Thank you for enlightening me and sharing this amazing video.

    Everything is right! we use it all since Balts came on our shores as the Ice Age was over.About chaga. and needles of pine. We here in Latvia make a lung syrup out of pine( Pinus Sylvestris ) buttons we pick them in May,/ June And make a sweet srup out of 'em The stuff is red in colour! and tasty. I grind chaga and add it to my coffee. Drink it with milk. I love the taste. We don't have the Wintergreen in Europe. But there as a lot of lingonberry. I make a jam and jelly of them. They stay in some places over the winter and in early spring the remained have got especially sweet and flavoury taste! Nothing to compare with. We all pick them. Latvians are forest people!

    “Fugu”
    A weary traveler I am, passing
    through this winter's cold,
    searching for that one feeling of warmth
    which won't slip away after a momentary hold
    My feelings just steep in the depths of a dark brew
    And it seems like someone is stirring the pot
    I just don't know who
    And I suppose it doesn't matter
    as long as the drink is hot
    The crackling wood of warmth is not far from the fire;
    intertwined, verily, lie certain death, and desire
    Like the slim sliced slivers
    cut with a Fuguhiki knife
    it may be the edge of the abyss of death
    but I prefer to call it life
    and I hold on to it with every breath

    found it >;D amazing, I wish there was wintergreen or some kind of berry here, or chaga even, but alas i'll stick to pine needle tea since that's like all there is in SK

      😂 oooo do some research on what might be available in any natural grasslands in the summer (i.e. not farmland, but maybe hedgerows?), Some pretty cool plants grow in the native prairies 🥰

    For me its very informative.I just want ask if are needles from trees that are toxic? Because i always have problems with identifing some of the trees.

    • @gwendelyne
      @gwendelyne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you research what coniferous trees are native to where you live specifically :) the needles of most coniferous trees are not toxic and are actually very beneficial, but you need to find out what trees grow in your area and if they're safe to ingest or not :)

      @@gwendelyne aren't wintergreen leaves toxic if you make tea from them?

    • @gwendelyne
      @gwendelyne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kalob35 no not at all :) they used to be used on their own quite a lot for tea.

      @@gwendelyne I heard the Methyl Salicylate that the leaves produce can cause issues but i guess the leaves themselves dont contain a strong concentration like the oil does i will also be drying the leafs for homeade smuff n tea they say a tsp of oil is as potent as 180 asprin and is fatal and thank you for clearing that up i had just ordered a few thousand seeds to grow this year instead of mint i started my mint from seed and it developed no smell i love foraging for wild herbs and such too and im growing over 1000 plants on top of that i apreciate your info and love your videos very entertaining and informative

    • @gwendelyne
      @gwendelyne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kalob35 so this is interesting, because yes some essential oils can be very toxic and unsafe! However, when you're using the whole plant in its natural form, you won't be able to consume enough of that essential oil to experience any problems. Also, your mint might not have developed any smell because it could have been over cared for! Herbs develop their scent and taste from environmental stress - lack of water, hot sun, insect attack, etc. The opposite of what we want for food crops! But for herbs, if they're not a little bit stressed (physiologically), they won't develop the secondary metabolites needed to cope with the stress (which are what give them their medicinal qualities and scent). Hope this helps!
