Eric, having hunted these birds in the mountain west for 26 years now, I can fully appreciate the satisfaction you express in the “hunting ecstacy”. The dog work is REMARKABLE. I’ve hunted over a lot of bird dogs, but none of the caliber displayed here. To hold points for 20+min on wild devil birds is amazing. As one who has missed just as many as I’ve shot (truthfully missed more than connected, just too prideful to admit it), your shooting % is also remarkable. Not many chase these birds the way they deserve (as you have displayed), so it’s hard for one to appreciate what you’re doing here, until they’ve done it.
Breathtaking landscapes! You certainly have to be fit to go hunting in that terrain! Ah, and hats off to your dog! Fantastic job! There are situations where there are so many birds flying away that it must be difficult to pick the one you want to shoot! Amazing! Congratulations!
Hey Eric, have you ever hunted mountain quail? If you like hunting mountain birds on challenging hunts, there's some great hunting to be had in far Northern California. If you time your trip right, you can throw in Sooty and Ruffed grouse.
Hi Eric it’s my fourth time i am watching this video, the working of dog your technique of hunting the beauty of landscape. Man I love the hole package its awesome thanks.
Amazing!!!! As an over the hill bird hunter I will never be able to hunt chukar because of the mountain terrain. Thanks for the beautiful scenery and the amazing dog work. Have a great summer!
Mannn how much i get exited when i see that u posted another chukar video...kiss moux for me this time...that was an epic way to end a season❤❤❤loved it all ..
Eric, I, too, know the high of being alone with my dogs, enjoying the physical nature of upland bird hunting. Seeing the beauty of the landscape, the wild animals around me. It's the genetic wiring of a hunter. Great of you to share your experiences!
Thanks Eric for the best upland bird hunting videos on TH-cam. I love how you capture the birds flushing. Moxie is an unbelievable dog. Great job training her to hunt. Any type of upland birds.
Always good to see your videos brother , do you also sell finished dogs ? I’m looking for a good chukar dog and looking forward to hunt with a wired-hair pointer this coming year if I can find one , I have 6 GSP and wanted to add one more friend , thank you 🙏🏼
Chukars Always Have a Chance: Another great video - Moxie's addicted to chukar. When I was 15, I saw 2 guys in our hunting party walk in on a chukar holding in a single bush on a hillside. I said to an older, experienced hunter with me, "that chukar has no chance". He replied, "chukar always have a chance." Those two hunters walked up to the bush, one above and one below. When they were 10 feet away, the bird exploded straight up and went right over their heads in the direction they had just come from. We watched these two hunters twist around, stumbling, trying to shoot on a steep hillside and hitting nothing but air. Then the old guy restated, "chukars always have a chance". I have tons of respect for those birds. Eric, you got so close to those birds, super good work using your boots to get in position. Thanks for sharing your hunting trips.
Hi there Eric, you’re right.. that was “Hunting Ecstasy” and a sublime day”! And I’m glad we can all tag along… and that’s really a majestic place to hunt. Thanks for sharing sir👍🏻.
Fantastic video Eric your dogs are always top notch and the scenery was beautiful. I’m glad your living your dream and letting us see it all with you. Your sure going to have some beautiful memories to look back on. Really looking forward to your new ones. Thank you.
Awesome place , smart dog , great hunting like always , I've been watching your videos I really enjoy watching them and at the same time I'm jealous and I'm thinking no wonder he always look good and doesn't age
Looks so much fun! Chukars are on my bucket list but I don't know, I'm afraid of heights. Looking down those canyons will take my legs out from under me. Love the camera work!
This is the type of content I love to see. Good job man 💯,I found this Chanel recently and will now stay around to watch your hunts/adventures. Keep up the good work 🤙
Super enjoyable man. I can appreciate your words on how special it all is. Here in Utah, we’ve had a couple bad drought years that have wiped out our wild chukar numbers. This year has been a bit better, and now we’ve got huge snow levels - so we’ll see how the spring goes. Anyway… I truly enjoy your content, how you set up the hunts and explain most points and scenarios. Congratulations on a fine season and some amazing dog work. On top of all - you somehow film it all. Amazing. Well done.
Hi Eric and Moxy too, what a wonderful place to end your season (It terrifies me just looking at it, ann). That was a really rugged place. Can you tell us if there are any English partridge in them there hills? We loved every vid, hope there are plenty more to come next season. You're dogs are all great and what a splendid job they did!! Malc and Ann UK xxx
Love your videos. Awesome dogs. Hope to get back to chucker hunting next year when I’m completely healed up from my back surgery. Hopefully that’s possible!!
Beautiful video, and your experience is gained through the many years you spend in the mountains ...I hunt like you, I photograph like you, and I document my moments. This bird is very beautiful, and hunting it requires a lot of effort. I am following you from Syria ❤
Awesome dog and amazing fhunt. Your videos are by far the best, you bring us with you. However.. I would pass on climbing those "cliffs" I don't do heights. Thanks for the experience
Love all your videos. My son and I are starting to plan a trip out west. We have Shorthairs and a Griffon. We really have no clue where to begin. Would love to talk and get some advice, we have never done this before.
Amazing videos! Just came across them as I prepare for Chukar hunting this year. Great dog work!......any pointers on getting a dog to hold a point when he is a good distance away from you? Mine does great when he's close but tends to get a little loose the further he gets away from me.
I just discovered your channel, and as an avid but chubby uplander, blue grouse and these guys intimidate the shit out of me 😂 Going to have to try it sometime though.
@@ericforrester1 ever chased them behind a flushing dog? I do fairly well on huns and sharptail every year but these lads seem particular hahahaha. Nothing retrieves like a lab, but they gas out faster and he only points on veneers tight sitting birds
You part goat man that was a great day’s hunting moxie made some great work out off them birds and as soon as you hear her bark you no them birds still well out in front off her and you made sure that last single was going down 😂thanks very much for sharing Eric as I a long way away from hells canon you make me feel I rite there enjoy the rest and looking forward to seeing more in the not to long future I hope ☘️
Beautiful country! That bird at the 13:30 mark was great. Do birds go back to their buddies and tell of their escape and close encounters? Thanks again for sharing the season with us.
I go back and forth but, last year I used Boss #5’s and I had good results. The birds seemed to fall dead more often but it also could have been better shot selection. I have used #6 in the past.
These videos are awesome!! No hard feelings if you don’t want to answer this question but we’re you on the Oregon side or the idaho side? I only ask because I live in boise hahaha
What country...one is bird hunting, not mountain climbing Eric. Moxie is terrific ad always. You were born to chase the red legged devils. A priviledge to watch, enjoy and even jog an old memory or two. Stay easy and enjoy the ride called life. GO MOXIE! Outstanding hunt and filming.
Eric. You would have to have chosen the best boot for extreme terrain and comfort by now. Would you share your boot knowledge? Brand and model? Thanks! BTW, if i was a younger man, i would have me a couple of those wire hairs!! No birds left here in Arkansas but i was lucky enough to have hunted them when there were coveys of quail virtually everywhere. My dad had some of the best English pointers around with an occasional setter. It truly was the sport of kings. You have the best bird hunting channel by far.
I agree completely with kylegraham993. The scenery and the feeling of harvesting a chukar, it is like a trophy every time. I am curious what kind of boat that is that you were using.
Eric, your content, dog work and shooting are strong! I shoot birds. No dogs anymore. Just hire guides and go do it. But your living that life a lot of us wish we had the balls to go adventure and “live”. Well done, amigo!

Thank you. You’re right, it’s difficult to understand the experience until you have done it. I enjoy hearing from people like you that get it! 👊

That gave him a good story to tell his buddies! 😆
Nice dog!!!!!! Good hunting 💪🏻
Another great vid Eric. Best out there. If I could handle the terrain I'd be planning a trip to HC.
the best!
What is your favorite Chucker shot shell? Brand, shot size, type & length. Love your videos.🐦💥🍗

Hello Eric, great videos. Can you please share what is your gear for videos ( Camera, drone etc) and setup?
GoPro and DJI drone

It is a Saturn Kaboat. 👍
Eric, I live and hunt birds in idaho, dig your vids. You should try sharpies in the SE
I was excited to hear how you prepare, seems the video got cut short.
Eric, your content, dog work and shooting are strong! I shoot birds. No dogs anymore. Just hire guides and go do it. But your living that life a lot of us wish we had the balls to go adventure and “live”. Well done, amigo!

I see why you do it and why you keep going back, good for you!!
It's got to be hard for you to go back to Indiana after hunting in the west.
You are a professional person, but what is the chuck number used and what is the size of the bullets?
12 gauge #5 shot
Best upland videos on TH-cam! What time of the year is this?
Hey Eric, awesome video. What kind of shotgun are you shooting when you go on these long steep hunts?
I take my trusty Benelli Ethos 👍
Brilliant as usual outstanding dog work I say you sleep well after all that walking
😁 thanks!
People say Idaho doesn’t have steep mountains…ha!
Eric do you have specific videos or training tips that you do to train your hunt dead so well?
It’s just genetics, prey drive. 👍
I love checking out your videos, what shotgun and gauge are you using?
In this video I’m using my Benelli Ethos 12ga
What types of gps collars do you use I have a GSP and want GPS on her for the fall
I have used the Garmin Alpha 100 for many years.
What go pro set up do you use? I would love to make videos of my hunts
I have a GoPro hero 10
