      Because of the crank case system that vents to the atmosphere, it’ll drain just as easily with the cap on😁

    There actually is no need to get that evasive taking the tire off to get at the filter, there is one clip on bottom where you will be able to jus flip it up but in this case the oil filter was waaaaaaaaay to tight ...

    Appears that Nissan made basic maintenance a pain for your DIY people with the newer models.
    Why not use Full synthetic since you change it less often ~5,000-7,500 miles?
    The 2013-2015 Nissan Altima manuals even recommends 0-W20 [full] synthetic.
    Using regular oil is acceptable though not recommended.
    IMHO and experience, Synthetic oil makes the engine run smoother and quieter and better in colder (winter) weather/temperatures.

    My brother in law lost his life while changing oil and filter of nissan altima. Apparently this is the last video he was watching as found from history. Hope you add some cautionary words about having perfect jack before going under the car. My brother in law was using one provided with car, which unfortunately came out when he was under. Since tire was out as it was shown in this video, he died a tragic death. He was only 30 leaving behind his wife and 13 month old boy...

      I'm sorry to hear that but I never recommend using those factory floor jacks. They're only for emergency use to change a tire on the side of the road. In my videos I always tell people to be safe,use jack stands and never rely on the floor jack . Sorry for your loss

    • @Jzak25
      @Jzak25 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      sorry about your loss but the car really do need to be stabilized 100% BEFORE going under. it is definitely dangerous going under a car and precautions are mandatory. one of Chrisfix's video stated one can drive the car up a ramp, place a piece of wood in the rear wheels to prevent slipping. to further offer safety he suggest take one of the front wheel off and place it under the car as a safety precaution. ppl do need to be aware of the dangers associated with DIY auto jobs.

    • @jamessullivan8300
      @jamessullivan8300 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for your loss. You do not need to remove the wheel. Just remove the bottom splash guard retaining clip and pull it toward the passenger tire a little. Real easy access. Now if you're going to be working on your own car dont be cheap...go buy a good floor jack and jack stands. If using ramps under the front wheels apply the emergency break and put wheel chocks behind the back wheels.

      Older engines, it was recommended to fil the filter. That way your engine isn’t ever without oil when starting. My 74 Corvette is recommended that you fill the filter before starting, but it also has a vertical position for the filter.
      However, newer engines are built different and that filter is on sideways. You’d waste oil.

The service dept said my car uses regular convention 5W-30. I told them no, it should be synthetic. Doesn't the service dept look up the car on the comp to know the vescosity of the oil? Will the 5W-30 ruin my engine? My car has only 25K miles. Oil change every 5K miles.
