I used to go to Variety during my college years as it’s nearby. My friends knew that I was choosy about coffee, and then they got surprised to know that I found my coffee place. Variety’s oat latte was so great!

Lots of cool places to check out next time I'm in town :) Funny though that what makes every cafe unique is a version of the same thing...

Nice. Great to see all the work we did in Sydney in the early 90's has effected coffee and the way it is made all over the world. I feel proud of what I contributed in that.

I’d put Sydney and Melbourne coffee shops up against any city in the world. Oz coffee scene is arguably the best.

Great video, gave me a few more to try. Hope you also get to check out Rebel Coffee in WV, Lazy Llama in EV, Jolly Goat in HK, and Super Nice in E Harlem! Let me know if you’re swinging up to Super Nice and I’ll treat you, it’s my neighborhood spot I’m obsessed with.

soooo late to the party with this. has given me some new options should we ever get back. we struggled to find a good coffee when we last visited in 2019. went to a couple of australian owned cafes but they fell into the trap of making coffees for how the locals like it. i know that one would think that is the logical thing to do but they have the opportunity to differentiate and bring a touch of melbourne to nyc.

Here’s my 5 favorite coffee shops in NYC:
    1) Black Brick Coffee
    2) Felix Roasting Co.
    3) The Lazy Llama Coffee Bar
    4) Hutch & Waldo
    5) Cafe Integral
    Stay Caffeinated!

Nice, but. I guess if you live in the UWS or the other 3 boros, you need to go to soho or brooklyn to get coffee.

Funny thing being that all of them repeat the same thing as their value proposition, just showing that none of them have anything that differentiates from other!

I agree! I don’t want to read a corporate brochure. I want to know what the owners really think. They probably do have USP’s but they aren’t confident on camera or articulate.

@@kidmackenzie There’s some great spots in Harlem too. SuperNice, Manhattanville & Lucille’s, Lenox Coffee Roasters, Proof Coffee roasters (there’s more, but these are places I often visited)

This video title was clearly designed to work well with a search engine but it is so sad to see that the video only showcases shops in Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan. You definitively have to do a part 2 using the suggestions in the comments.

I disagree that East one coffee roasters is one of the best coffee shops in Brooklyn. Yes, the location is good. But the service leaves much to be desired. Even Starbucks treats the customer better.

The best espresso.in nyc and this was in 2017 was in soho
Cant remeber the street. Was a little shop in front of a catholic church which wasnt very popular
The girl making the coffee was italian (not italian american) and the espresso ws so good i had three ( i dribk.it without sugar and it was perfect not bitter nice taste).People talk about " coffee culture" in Australia th3 truth is most Australians are coffee snobs who wouldnt know a good coffee if it bit them on the ass. Most Australians put milk on their coffee and sugar and then walk around pretending to be experts

Come to Chiang Mai, Thailand. It will blow your mind. Hundreds of cool coffee shops. It’s slim pickins in the US. Australia is probably the best coffee scene for pure taste.

This host clearly cares little about freshness in content. The obnoxious shirt, the lazy questions... ugh.
