okay, i'm from south india, and i come from a long line of farmers. here's what we eat in a day: rice 3x (plateful, breakfast, lunch, dinner) / rice byproducts also included any gram/tamarind kombucha (rasam lol) lots of veggies curd optional meat 2x a week very rarely outside food that's all. we eat healthy throughout the day. yea, we're all healthy enough. it's only her problem that she's not able to lose weight.
i like how she blames it on our land's fertility, but on the other hand, the diversity of food we have is unmatched. she has a minute to disappoint our whole race but not a minute to rethink the choices of food around her and decide what to consume. dumb.
So I have a disease called Hashimotos (hypo-thyroid) which has consistently kept me 30-40 pounds above the average and looking relatively overweight. When people see me they just think I’m lazy. What people don’t know is I play sports all year round and go to the gym on any day off. (I’m heading to football practice in an hour. Wish me luck.) whenever I see these people blaming irrelevant things it disgusts me cause some people have real problems and are working hard to stay consistent.

I have this, there's medication for this, but many types as what series of hormones your thyroid can produce or treat changes from person to person, I know it's harder to lose weight with this condition but if the weight is simply not coming off (when it should), maybe you should check that your dosage and type of medication are correct, if they're wrong that could be why you're struggling.
the only time you have a reason to blame the system is when you only have access to fast foods and unhealthy foods, whether it's because of finances, time or location, a mix of those or all of them but even then, you have the option to eat less, maybe the food is unhealthy due to nutrient deficiency but calories are what matters for your weight gain

As an Indian I would like to tell everyone that here in my country fast food is more expensive than eating home cooked food. You get a WIIIIIDE variety of fruits and vegetables in your local market. Even organic food in cheaper than fast food. 😂 Yesterday I bought my vegetables and fruits for the week. Considering I live in tier-1 city, my bill was 800rs which is like 10dollars(for two people).

I really hate people who, despite having the power to do SOMETHING about their status, choose to complain about how unfair life is. You know what's unfair? You sitting there all day long, eating fast food and doing nothing for your health but somehow still being alright, while another person who does everything in their power to be healthy dies young of a horrible disease, because that's what their genes had in store for them. Or, you sitting there complaining that you've put on weight (because you have enough food to eat to gain weight) while a child starves to death before they can even hit the double digits in age. Or you complaining how society discriminates against you because of your weight, something you have at least some control over even if you have trouble losing weight because of your genetics, when there's someone who was born with a disability that severely affects their ability to lead a normal life and fit into society, and there's absolutely NOTHING they can do about that and never even had a chance to prevent themselves from having to live this way. Etc. Now THAT is unfair. All of that. "Unfair" doesn't being with you sitting on your butt all day long, shoving food inside your mouth and having to deal with the consequences of it. That has nothing to do with life being unfair, as a matter of fact. Not being able to lose weight as easily as others can is a bit unfair. I think we can all agree on that. But if you're in a position to consider that a huge issue, boy oh boy, count your blessings because you're insanely privileged, so much so that it's blinding you.

I blame schools and history teachers. I'm so tired of them teaching history in this "us vs them" kind of way because it leads to this. What we are seeing is just the result this style of teaching has on a wider scale since most children are being educated now.

I never got to the point of no return on weight gain, but I did have to work hard on getting over my food addiction. But it's not impossible.

One of the only foods he eats is 15 bucks a bag and they last about a week each. Both of my siblings have 10+ food allergies each and feeding them is harder than you'd think. I live off of small snacks and only eat about 1 or maybe 2 meals a day so I don't cost much to feed. I help with coupons and food expenses even though I'm a broke college student in a very busy medical program. And now with inflation going nuts these days, my mom and I are scared to death on how we're going to make it past Christmas. The funny thing is, just yesterday I saw a video of an Indian-British professor addressing a university about how the BRITISH helped India develop famine prevention and response strategies which have highly reduced both the number and severity of famine in the region. The 2nd funny part of the whole thing is, when I started my weight loss journey I moved to a more Indian and Asian style diet and away from the ‘white’ style diet… that helped me lose around 100lbs and keep it off for well over a decade… so yeah… you want to not be fat… don’t eat processed food/carbs and you will lose weight and get more fit… it worked for me and millions of others… amazing that eating the way poeple did before obesity was a thing helps you not be obese… The ‘my friends eat exactly like me and they don’t gain weight’ argument is complete BS…. Perhaps when you are all together you all are having a good time and eat too much indulgent, unhealthy, junk food…. But I bet while you are at home eating the exact same way you did at the party, they are too full form gorging with you so skipping a few meals or eating a small/normal portion of protein and green veg… YOU DON’T EAT THE SAME…

Bad genetics for weight loss exist, but 90% of the time fat people just assume they have bad genetics, and they've been too lazy to ever put in the work to try and lose weight. I literally have lower metabolic response (just like my brother) and I was still able to lose 95 pounds (I went from 245lbs to 150lbs at 5'4 height). I had to work a lot more than Normal to get to that weight, but it was doable nonetheless. Hard doesn't mean impossible

I have this, there's medication for this, but many types as what series of hormones your thyroid can produce or treat changes from person to person, I know it's harder to lose weight with this condition but if the weight is simply not coming off (when it should), maybe you should check that your dosage and type of medication are correct, if they're wrong that could be why you're struggling.
the only time you have a reason to blame the system is when you only have access to fast foods and unhealthy foods, whether it's because of finances, time or location, a mix of those or all of them
but even then, you have the option to eat less, maybe the food is unhealthy due to nutrient deficiency but calories are what matters for your weight gain

As an Indian I would like to tell everyone that here in my country fast food is more expensive than eating home cooked food. You get a WIIIIIDE variety of fruits and vegetables in your local market. Even organic food in cheaper than fast food. 😂

Or you complaining how society discriminates against you because of your weight, something you have at least some control over even if you have trouble losing weight because of your genetics, when there's someone who was born with a disability that severely affects their ability to lead a normal life and fit into society, and there's absolutely NOTHING they can do about that and never even had a chance to prevent themselves from having to live this way.

Not being able to lose weight as easily as others can is a bit unfair. I think we can all agree on that. But if you're in a position to consider that a huge issue, boy oh boy, count your blessings because you're insanely privileged, so much so that it's blinding you.
The argument she's giving just reminds me of the parents that blame candy shops selling candy for their child being unhealthy rather than blame themselves for letting them have a poor diet. These things exist as a treat and it's up to us as individuals to manage our diet (and exercise).

I had a surgery last month and gained ten pounds, except I didn’t gain it from the surgery, I gained it from the shit I ate. See look I don’t blame my weight on my circumstances I blame it on my bad choices. I am now working out again after recovering and I’m starting up meal prep again so I can go back down and I can gain my muscle back

And I have a leg deformity that makes exercise difficult. But I still managed to get to a healthier weight and I have so much more energy too. It's not MY fault you're like this. @@doodun3619 I totally get that, don't worry. I was malnourished and starved for the for th first ten years of my life by my abusive father. When I finally got to eat food, it became my crutch. I never got to the point of no return on weight gain, but I did have to work hard on getting over my food addiction. But it's not impossible.

I live in a single-income, lower class household. One mom working an office job, an older sister with autism that WILL NEVER WORK and gets about 800 bucks from the government and no more cuz the gov sucks, and a younger brother who ALSO has autism and is the pickiest eater known to man. One of the only foods he eats is 15 bucks a bag and they last about a week each. Both of my siblings have 10+ food allergies each and feeding them is harder than you'd think. I live off of small snacks and only eat about 1 or maybe 2 meals a day so I don't cost much to feed. I help with coupons and food expenses even though I'm a broke college student in a very busy medical program. And now with inflation going nuts these days, my mom and I are scared to death on how we're going to make it past Christmas.
And yet I can have the self-control to not eat a bunch of junk food.🥰 which is the point of my post anyway. Self-control is a universal thing we can all apply in our lives.

The funny thing is, just yesterday I saw a video of an Indian-British professor addressing a university about how the BRITISH helped India develop famine prevention and response strategies which have highly reduced both the number and severity of famine in the region. The 2nd funny part of the whole thing is, when I started my weight loss journey I moved to a more Indian and Asian style diet and away from the ‘white’ style diet… that helped me lose around 100lbs and keep it off for well over a decade… so yeah… you want to not be fat… don’t eat processed food/carbs and you will lose weight and get more fit… it worked for me and millions of others… amazing that eating the way poeple did before obesity was a thing helps you not be obese…

Bad genetics for weight loss exist, but 90% of the time fat people just assume they have bad genetics, and they've been too lazy to ever put in the work to try and lose weight. If you truly want it, itll happen. I've dropped weight multiple times in my life when I needed to. All I had to do was try.

I literally have lower metabolic response (just like my brother) and I was still able to lose 95 pounds (I went from 245lbs to 150lbs at 5'4 height). I had to work a lot more than Normal to get to that weight, but it was doable nonetheless. Hard doesn't mean impossible
