    I usually mix the olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and oregano in a small bowl to have all the ingredient integrated evenly like a dressing. Looks great. Thank you.

    The best sandwich in the world! I love an Italian sub, and yes, with Lays potato chips too. That is gorgeous, and since my son just unpacked the groceries, and all the ingredients are here, I'm making this for lunch. I make mine just like yours but only once in a while I will switch to mayonnaise just as a change of pace. (not often) I just realized that I have been leaving off the oregano and I have no idea why!! It will go in today, and your so right, the salt and pepper makes all the difference in the world too. It's so wonderful to see you, I've been really busy, and have missed a lot of videos, and this video is a reminder of just how much I have been missing. Wonderful video. Bless, Sheila

      I love these sandwiches too and coin them as the best ones in the world !!! I like to also add thin rounds of crispy chilled dill pickle and a few banana peppers (as they are not that spicy to distract from the purity of this sando !). I also enjoy putting mortadella on this instead of ham (or both), and once the meat and cheese are on the sando, I put this and the other half of the roll (without the veggies) in the oven on super high heat (450) until the cheese melts and the roll is beginning to slightly toast on the edges but is still soft in the middle. At which point out it comes, I heap on the veggies, salt and pepper and oregano and EVVO plus red wine vinegar - more oregano (I love that flavor) - put the 2 sides together and slice it - then WHA LA ! A still warm sub with the contrasting crisp of the veggies and tang.- richness of the dressing.... THE BEST SANDO IN THE WORLD :-) And my last name is Sanguinetti so I should know LOL ! Cheers to you and all !!!

    French bread only has water, yeast, flour and salt (with sometimes trace amounts of dough conditioner). Italian bread often has other ingredients such as olive oil, milk and/or sugar. The result is French bread tends to be a little dryer with more crunch in the crust. Italian, on the other hand, tends to be softer with a chewy consistency.

    • @raffaeleirlanda6966
      @raffaeleirlanda6966 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Italian bread upto 2000 (or so on) could be called with the name "bread" BY LAW only if was made using water, yeast flour and salt, or exceptionally with olive oil, as a variant, if you declared in the ingedients you used oil while baking the dough, and containing no anything else.
      Any other kind of typical, regional or even fancy bread made using milk or olives, butter or nuts and so on, it could not be called "bread" but using its own peculiar name of baking product.
      Now this good law has been abolished as considered too much limiting for a modern free market (dunno if it was imposed by UE to do this), and personally I think it is a pity, as it opens literally a freeway for realizing any kind of disgusting products and called them as "bread"! Difference between french and italian breads is mainly another. Best part of french bread types are dry because french cuisine is rich of spread cremes and solid sauces, that you put on the bread with a knife, while italian cuisine is rich of liquid sauces that require a bread capable to absorb it, while spinning the bread crumbs around in the plate. But it is not a written rule as long as both the two european cuisines have plenty of soup recipes in which to pour any kind of dry or soft bread in it.

      French bread more dry? Not sure where you got that. As far as the exterior crust goes. That is absolutely a result of the duration of proofing the dough and temp. French bread is allowed to rise more times. Recipes are similar.

    This is good stuff. I normally take some of the bread out to form a pocket for the meat. Also I lay my prosciutto perpendicular to the bread and fold it over. That way you are bitting with the grain of the prosciutto and it makes it less stringy.

    This video reminded me that I can use olive oil & red wine vinegar instead of mustard & mayo. I don't often go to Subway so I had forgotten. I bought some black forest ham, salami, smoked turkey & Swiss cheese all from the deli section of the grocery store. Hoagie rolls, tomatoes, & shredded lettuce sealed the deal for a delicious lunch at home complete with a bag of chips & iced tea. Thanks!

    That looks wonderful. I make them similar. I do toast the inside of my bread. I love all my veggies thinly sliced as well. I wondered if you were going to use olive oil and you did! Never tried it with vinegar! Looks super fantastic Jason!!! Hugs!

    Great video. My local deli adds a few fire roasted red tomatoes on top of their heroes.

    As you said, the roll is the most important part. Not soft and bready like a hotdog bun, but crunchy on the outside and chewy inside. You need to pluck out some of the bread in order to make a hollow or pocket lengthwise so the filling will fit better. Add some dill pickle slices. No sub is complete without some Hot Pepper Hoagie Spread from a brand like Cento. Also pour your oil/vinegar mix onto the roll and saturate it so it drips out when you eat it. Everything else looks OK.
