I believe that missy maybe one of the last incarnations of the master as saxon stated that the blast from his laser screwdriver stops her ability to regenerate, this could of course go a few ways either she is the 'last' master or as they have shown before she may find a way to either reverse it or steal another body much like what the decaying master did :)
That's what I thought as well, and since Missy was a 'reformed' character, why would she regenerate into an evil master anyway?
Bur between Missy & spyMaster there were Lumiat, only pure good Master incarnation...

I really hope RTD brings back Sacha. He's such a great master and it'd be nice to break the trend of new Doctors having new Masters.
Yes it would be nice to break tradition for once. The Tremus Master (Anthony Ainley) was paired against four of the classic doctors (Doctors 4-7). But I have a feeling it might be another recast because I imagine RTD would want to cast an actor close to Ncuti’s age to play the Master and Sacha is almost ten years older than Ncuti.
I do like this video. However, I’d like to believe that the Spy Master actually comes before Missy (as he acts much more like the Saxon Master). It also wouldn’t reduce Missy’s evolution by having her simply become evil again after The Doctor Falls.
But that is not how regeneration works: every incarnation is a different person from the other, with only memories and (sometimes) their core attitude still there.
Missy is not the Spy Master, just like every other incarnation is not the same individual.
True, but also factor in that the Saxon master "gave her the full blast" in that she didn't regenerate. All we see is her lying still with no evidence of regeneration or any deus ex machina to save her. To me personally, it feels as though this was the masters final incarnation and that is her canonical death
@@christopheryoung9857 I do not concur with that idea, even with the Doctor, because despite how many times they said so in the series (i.e. "same software, different hardware"), it is not at all what it's shown to happen in the episodes.
I like to use the example of the Fourth Doctor and the Seventh Doctor because both of them experienced the same situation with the same enemy; so, it gives us a comparison field with (almost) equal variables.
In _"Genesis of the Daleks"_ , the Fourth Doctor is in a particular space-time condition that should allow him to delete Daleks from existence by altering their birth moment; he is troubled, struggling with the idea of making the Daleks disappear, worried about the implications of the baby dictator conundrum. In the end, he decides to let it go because of his moral principles.
Then, confront him with the Seventh Doctor in _"Remembrance of the Daleks"_ , where he decides to commit a genocide of Daleks tricking Davros into destroying Skaro and, after that, he pushes the last remaining Dalek on Earth to commit suicide with no remorse whatsoever. In 1963 no less, well conscious Daleks should technically being present in the future too; so with the clear intention of changing the past.
The same moral values between the two..? I don't think so.
The only two things the Doctor's incarnations share with each other are memories and the good Samaritan spirit; but a person is not just the mere sum of their memories.
Each incarnation of the Doctor is not the same individual, as much as every incarnation of the other Time Lords are neither the same person.
The video said there is no canon but failed to mention the non TV media that adds extra masters and explains why he turns bad again after missy
The video says there is no non canon, but we have excluded expanded media for ease. It’s hard to make a video using only audio stories.
You know it's a shame bi-generation only came about recently. Would have been a nice twist if the Saxon Master had rejected becoming Missy so much that he bi-generated to become Missy and the Spy Master. With the mental trauma of such a regeneration preventing one from remembering the other.

It's most likely Saxon Master has regenerated into the Spy Master. Don't forget Missy couldn't regenerate and that Saxon Master didn't want to become her anymore.
Saxon Master was the only one who was truly scary. That actor did a phenomenal job in the role.

I believe missy is the final incarnation. The fatal blast + emotional journey she went on felt like a conclusion to the character. Plus lines like "im a bit fuzzy on the whole regeneration thing" from missy imply moffat was leaving room for this interpritation and other masters / mistresses inbetween saxon and her.
So think spy master is pre missy and... Maybe post Saxon? Theres so many gaps in the timeline to fill in why not pre 13th??
But honestly like the idea of the doctor and master just meeting out of order River/Doctor style. Hope they acknowledge that idea in the writing some day

How do we know Saxon Master regenerated into Missy when it was never shown on screen? The Master could have had many incarnations before missy. This my head-canon, it helps redeem Missy's ending to her story arch.

On Big Finish it's explained that Missy regenerated into The Lumiat

Philip Segal says Tipple is a separate incarnation, but Destiny of the Doctors says Ainley is sent on trial. So the intention is definitely muddied.

Of course he had become the Keeper (as the episode title says) and sometimes I wonder if I mean he regenerated 😮 or maybe he’s now part of the pantheon of discord 😂😊 they did say there’s a three era secret. 🤫 the master was introduced and mostly used in the three era. And the new beginnings is a master trilogy! 😂 so I can see Luvic becoming a pantheon of discord member. 😊 also they mention Tigella which is also s18, and in devils chord there was not just June Hudson, but also, more saliently the son of Roger Limb.
And June Hudson is well known as Romanas costumist, but Roger Limb was practically the Nyssa-era composer 😂😊 which means he was Luvic’s composer too 😊 (and also means he was bor’s composer, one of my least fave characters 😂) (but then again if it wasn’t for Luvic, bor might not even have existed… bor has a piece of Luvic in him 😮😊)
war chief is not the master,is an early installment version of they/him ,i think he is not the master just another time lord renegade and corrupt because that theory sounds very unconfirmed for now ,i hope because comics and other media stuff like big finish war chief and the master being the same is not true

Did the Master not accept the High Council's offer of a new set of regenerations in The Five Doctors?
The Doctor wouldn’t listen to him so he ended up trying to kill him so never got the chance to accept the offer.
The offer was made by President Borusa who ended up entombed with Rassilon, Chancellor Flavia who became acting president, and the Castellan who died to further Borusa scheme, in the days when stasers were actually fatal to Time Lords. Two members of the High Council were gone and the third was acting in the place of the Doctor, so it’s doubtful she’d honor a pledge to a villain made by another villain.

the classic masters didn't have the drumming. That only happened because during the time war the time lords changed his past
RTD retconned it so the drumming was there since he was a kid. I'm not a fan of the retcon either.
@@CultOfThirteen it was there since he was a kid, but only because the time lords changed the past. A "retcon" is when previous story/lore changes for out-of-universe reasons, not time travel
@@ab-mc2nq Except the Time Lords knew about the drumming before they sent it, making it a bootstrap paradox. So according to DW's time travel "rules" (more like guidelines) it was always there. Before then, in series 3, RTD was clearly implying that the drumming was why the Master went evil in the first place.
But really, this is doctor who, and canon is what you want it to be. I rationalize it by assuming that the classic Master always had the drums, but he automatically tuned them out (like humans with our heartbeat). Then when he became Yana, he lost that tolerance, and kept hearing them
@@cement_eater dw's time travel system makes it quite clear that most time travel changes history rather than simply always being the case. Sometimes the effects of your personal future self changing history can ripple back down your timeline for a bit, making it seem like it was "always the case" but it wasn't always the case
