- In this 10,000 Reasons Flashback, Ron Mainse visit the program which aired on December 18th, 1997. Our guest was Hollywood actor Dean Jones, best known for his light-hearted leading roles in several Walt Disney movies in the 60’s and 70’s, including the “Herbie the Love Bug” series, The Shaggy DA, That Darn Cat, and many others. He shared some of his personal struggles and how he made a major change in His life.
His work in his live performance of St. John In Exile will be what I remember , brilliant incredible performance from any actor hands down. See you Mr. Jones when we go HOME too.

No wonder Walt Disney himself hand-picked him himself for his family live-action films. Such a great actor and such a affable man as well. RIP.
1968 Dallas Love Field Airport 11 year old boy ask mr. Jones for an autograph. Even though there wasn't a crowd and only one child asking mr. Jones says oh no I'm in hurry and have to catch a plane. Couldn't take 10 seconds scribble his name. P i s s on him

I love Dean Jones, especially in ‘That Darn Cat’ not to mention Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, Herbie Goes Bananas and Jailhouse Rock with Elvis!! So glad he knew the Lord.

RIP Jim Douglas I have never cried harder than when I found out about this. He was the face of my childhood
+White Hat Hack same. He died on my birthday, my 30th no less. Spent a lot of my childhood watching the Herbie films.

Oh wow sorry . I simply just watched the credits after a movie called envy n it said dean was the guitar arranger which is my forte at the moment but I didn’t like the way the guy said it was a great… story with a certain looks as if he didn’t believe he found Christ

Dean Jones was outstanding in a brief run in the Broadway Classic " Company" singing the great "Being Alive". Powerful rendition of that great Song,
I thought of Mr. Jones as a leading man to beauties such as Connie Stevens, and Dorothy Provine.
Remember the ugly Dachshund with Suzanne Pleshette funny movie.
Such a shame he didnt stick with that show. He left after only two weeks. His lose, Larry Kert’s great comeback

He was in a movie about Chuck Colson's conversion called Born Again, and he also played Luke in ACTS

I was saddened to hear is death. I'm from the UK 🇬🇧 and heard the news on BBC Radio 2. I watched 2 Herbie movies that he was in.
Checkout the one man play he did called St John In exile. As far as I'm concerned it's pretty good

A tremendous talent in a vessel that couldn't handle it -- certainly not a unique story, but that he turned his back on that talent in favor of personal happiness and still kept a career in show business going -- even if it was something that the folks who were knocked out by his early career weren't going to be interested in at all -- isn't something that happens every day.
He died seven years ago today from Parkinson's Disease.

+me home ~ I know what you mean. My mother made me go see him when he was a guest speaker at a church. It was a two hour long boring speech. He was better on screen than off.
If Jesus is religion, then health is disease.
