@@AC-mp7cx You see, the music gradually develops by letting different songs from each time period mix together by seamlessly flowing into each other at a smooth pace depending on the year which is shown. Each year plays a melody or a snippet from a popular song from each year signifying the change of highschool students, types of fashion, camera and so on. The music evolves just like the highschool style in each year. It plays quite a big part as our brains connect the sounds to the images on display.
So interesting seeing the morphing of fashion over the years, how it all leads to the next thing. It’s easy to label the past as old when you’re young, but you fail to see how it’s all connected.

OMG----Brings back memories!!! Graduated Class of '70!!! What a year--I missed it. Now 69 yrs. old--still love the music--so much fun. Just celebrated our 50th High School Anniversary on 2020--we still ROCK!!!
This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. Funny how from 2009 on everything looks roughly the same but man, the shifts at 1980 and 1993 were super abrupt and dramatic.
As an 80s kid that graduated in 1994, I remember a lot of styles from the 70s filtered in to the early 80s. Miami Vice coming out in 85 changed the fashion aesthetic of the decade pretty dramatically. A lot of those really abrupt shifts you see in the late 80s and early 90s was due to MTV solidifying itself as a driver of teen fashion during that time--when you have a company that's constantly looking for the next big thing in music, that influence is going to drive rapid changes in fashion styles, as well as a pretty eclectic combination of individual tastes.
@@cmc5394oparva It makes one wonder if the breakup of a shared cultural universe is why fashions have changed comparatively slowly in the last couple of decades. I graduated in 2006 and what struck me in watching this is how little difference there is between the fashion of my own high school days and the fashion of high school in the ‘20s (whereas if you put that in reverse and compare 2006 to 1988 it’s like looking at different worlds).
@@DanicaVa I think you’re definitely onto something. I can still see that mid-2000s vibe going strongly until 2007, then less so in 08-09. Then things since then really seem quite similar. But you’re right that the difference between 2006 and 2020 is far less dramatic than 2006 and 14 years in the opposite direction. There’s always been different groups and subcultures, but there has been far less unifying pop culture and culture in the last 10-15 years.
It does seem that styles don't change as drastically over the past few decades. The styles of 1990 seem much closer to 2020 then they do 1960 even though the differences in time are the same.
Not only is the music mix amazing, but to see technology (over time) allow the snapshots of years to get crisper/cleaner through the lens shows how far we’ve come.

This is incredibly interesting as a fashion enthusiast. It's like every other decade is distinct (60s, 80s, 00s, 20s) and the other decades are like...in between fashion-wise.
Yesss! I really enjoy that about fashion history. You can show me a picture of someone from anytime before 1990 and I can pin the decade precisely but after that it all blurs together
I think the fashion goes more like - late 60s/early 70s, late 70s/early 80s, late 80s/early 90s, late 90s/early 00s, etc. The idea 70s is one thing, and 80s is another, and 90s etc is actually not true.
@@Demion83 exactly, fashion and design and color from one decade seems to stretch into the first two or three years of the next decade, for example the typical 1970’s design wouldn’t be from 1970-79 precisely, but actually from 1973 until 1983 or so. Similarly 1980’s really began in 1983 and lasted until around 1993. The first two or three years of a decade share the same fashion/design as the last decade.

The music was a reference to Britney Spears not really edgy you know? From what I remember of the early 2000s was that it was super popular to listen to rap music it got even more common than pop music. Everyone wanted to be a gangster, you’d get some suburban white boys running around shouting West side and East side all the time. The radios and MTV were constantly playing 50 cent, R Kelly, and other rappers and hip hop/R&B artist with some weird kids who listened to nu metal in the early 2000s and later pop punk and emo bands in the late 2000s but were very much in the minority. I think the internet and subculture of the time was edgy but that wasn’t reflective of real life. People pretty much listened to rap and hip hop from 2000 to 2010 then there was a shift where people slowly started to collectively agree it was stupid to act like a gangster when you weren’t one but rap is still pretty popular but nothing compared to how it was
The 60s and 70s was the only Vibe. Probably the best Vibe you could ever experience. The music, every genre of it was amazing. People actually fighting back against the screwed-up government. People beginning to realize what Peace and Love Actually was and what it meant. All without the hypocritical posers like we have today. No social media or cell phones. Pure bliss. The 80s had their coolness too. The 90s were tacky and ugly AF. A couple of the things that were good about the 90s was the hip-hop and rock music. I grew up in the 90s. Sure everything seemed to be going well. Then Bush was elected and caused the whole 9/11 ordeal over oil and took that $$ to build Dubai. I was 10 when 9/11 happened and everything went downhill from there. I graduated high school in 2009

This just shows how fast time keeps moving. High school comes and goes. I just graduated class of 23' and I'm glad I had the mindset of not caring about what other people think. High school can be one of the best times of your life if you make it that way. I pushed a lot of boundaries senior year and did things that before I never thought I would ever do and I made some of my greatest memories ever. Made many friendships that I will cherish forever. Just remember if you are in high school enjoy it because you only get one shot at life and have fun and don't care what other people think.

@@imanacer : Ha, tell me about it mate and I still haven't got a fukn clue 🤪
@@Shadowfax-1980 I definitely agree. Maybe it’s a pre- and post-sexual revolution thing?

We didn’t talk about it for hundreds of years and it was more around then. How exactly does talking about it, lead to it?
Dude the music was on point, and the transition between each song. Incredible.
This is incredibly interesting as a fashion enthusiast. It's like every other decade is distinct (60s, 80s, 00s, 20s) and the other decades are like...in between fashion-wise.
Yes exactly.
Yesss! I really enjoy that about fashion history. You can show me a picture of someone from anytime before 1990 and I can pin the decade precisely but after that it all blurs together
I mean that makes sense! Although when 89 hit i could already see the 90's style fruiting

@@joshuaburba1048 Class of ‘83 here…your comment and the original are wonderful. Thanks for starting my Sunday morning off on the right note.
@@molipaul That's very kind of you to say, and you are welcome.
Time keeps marching on. It’s incredible. Doesn’t stop for anyone. We are just a quick vapor in this time. Born in ‘92 here and I’m proud to say I can look back at my life and say that I’m happy with what I’ve done. I’m married now and have a 2 year old boy.
Glad you’re happy!
I was born in 09 and us teenagers are still childish just how we like it. Well, some of us actually.
@@patrickvalette1937 good, that’s how a 13 year old is supposed to act. You are living life. Enjoy those times my friend.
@@atvbass10 thanks, and enjoy that son you have! He will grow up fast.
@@patrickvalette1937 don’t take this as rude but it’s nice seeing someone from your generation that actually uses punctuation instead of this “bruh” slang that goes around lol. Kudos to you lol. And thanks, I will!
I love the big hair and fashion styles of the 80s, they're so cool
Graduated in 84’ and this brought back memories. Miss those days and my youth.
Fantastic! The capturing of fashions and music for each year are spot on! Class of ‘94 feels like another lifetime now but still utterly unforgettable!
Absolute masterpiece! Thank you for all the hard work, editing and sharing this with all of us from the different decades. Class of 1988,here. I love the music from the 70’s and early 80’s when I was in elementary and jr high. Supertramp,Billy Squier,et al. The hairstyles, clothing, physiques have changed so much. This is a wonderful look into my past. Thanks, again, & keep up the good work!
what is the song at 1977?
@@christian9125abd Hey,bud. The song at 1977, is “Give a Little Bit” by Supertramp. Awesome band, from England. Their best album is Breakfast in America, from 1979. Those guys bring back a lot of memories. I appreciate the question and I’m glad you enjoyed the video as much as I did. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Music is my life. It’s amazing a song can transform us to a particular decade or place in time.
@@milesrickman9270 thanks alot, this was the first time i heard that song. i was born in 2001
@@christian9125abd Hey,there! That’s great! Glad you like the older music. I was born in 1970. The music back then was amazing, and it makes me feel old, but all these years later, the songs stood the test of time. The sound and lyrics just make you happy inside. Appreciate you!
@@milesrickman9270 there are also a few good new songs, but most of it isn't that great
The song chosen for 2012 perfectly captures the exact vibe of that year
Absolutely! Wiz Khalifa ruled that year for me, bought my first car and bumped Kush & OJ and Taylor Allderdice to and from school. Good old days
The music was perfect! Thanks for sharing!
the music is by dj earworm
That’s all you finna say I’m weak asf😭
I love seeing how the styles blend over the decade hump, so like late 70s style spills to early 80s for example. Music is almost the same way.
I’ve found that the styles of music and fashion differ less by decades, and more by presidential administrations; i.e., the Reagan years were significantly different from the Bush 41 years, which were also significantly different from the Clinton years, which were also significantly different from the Bush 43 years, and so on.
Actually no, one day people woke up after New Year’s eve and said “ops, we’re in the 80’s now, better get rid of my bell-bottoms and do a hair perm”
Wow! Respect to you for staying in high school for 50 years just to film this!
I'm from the class of 1971. Great video and memories! Man, where'd the time go.....
Class of ‘92 here… I’d go back in a second. Life was all about two things, school and social life. I have so much nostalgia for that time in my life.
I was born in '92. I turn 30 in 6 months. How do you feel about that?

@@deletdis6173 not really
Class of 1990. So glad to have been a child of the 70s and kid/teen of the 80s. In some ways things are better now but we were much more free (no internet, no social media and no cellphones) to just go live life unsupervised....which was a bit scary at times but also such a great feeling of independence as a teen.
Im happy i recognized that tiny snippet of Shout by Tears for Fears at 1985
I recognised almost all of them from 1980-2020. I don't know any of the 70s ones tho, I'm not a big fan of that time period.
Any chance you can link it?
Nvm.
Then Janet Jackson nasty for 1986 !
I’m going to be a senior in highschool this year. It was so crazy seeing all of these people who you know some of them are old or dead now. It makes me want to soak in this year as much as possible, enjoying this shared experience of highschool. It was so crazy to see all of the years crawl by and things become more familiar in this video. Very emotional.
Me too !! Especially recognizing the years my parents were in high school bc all of their pictures I've seen lol
Going to be a senior as well, good luck, enjoy it to the fullest
Class of ‘84, REPRESENT! Best year of music ever! Great soundtrack, poster.👍🏼
Time of Our Lives (2014) - DJ Earworm
I loved the 70s and 80 s.
It’s so amazing how times have changed! All decades of wonderful music, all decades of clothing styles and all decades of teens and children who’ve went to school.
I remember when i went to school from 2005 to 2015, it wasn’t perfect but i still had some good memories.
I find 70's and 80's more bad ass and fun loving.
Once it hit the 90s I felt nostalgic af. Also it’s neat as hell to see how hair/clothes style changes throughout the years and how fast time flies 🤯 I graduated in 2010 so I miss that time period dearly
I graduated college then. I feel nostalgic for that era.
Nostalgic AF! The 90’s was HS for me. My daughter is SOOOO jealous always saying how cool it must’ve been to be a teen in the mid 90’s! Yeah be jealous!!
Why did you feel nostalgia once the 90's hit when you didn't go to high school until 15-20 years later? Makes no sense.
@@henny6566 because I’m a 90s kid? I can still feel nostalgic for it despite not being in high school then
@@Cowgirlfrom_Hell No you can't. How can you be nostalgic about something you didn't experience?
THIS IS TOO COOL. Especially watching all the styles steadily shift into the present... my brain.
My father was class of 1963 so it was that unique time of the greaser care free 50's ending and the early hippie days . However seeing old pics of my dad he was definitely more the 50's type.
Oh cool! My Dad graduated in 1966.
Whoever did this soundtrack nailed it to perfection.
That's was cool. The songs w/each year is spot on. Class of '85 here & loved the 70's/80's

(The 80's! 🤘😁)
Stay well all
2000 is when everything changed drastically
@ReEducated Ronin Nope, it was the 90s that started changing.
@@-OBEY- I disagree. It was defiantly the mid 2000s till late 2000s cause that's when the internet started getting used more and what push us more into the digital age. I graduated high school in 09 and only thing we had really had at that time was Facebook, TH-cam, and Online Gaming.
We went from VHS to DVD, tapes to CDs to MP3 till finally phone or streaming music. The 2000s was defiantly the big jump to the digital age.
Actually it started in the 1960s and snowballed drastically from there
2005
I think everything drastically changed when smartphones came about
I graduated in 2002 & this made me smile, I wish it was longer 😂 such a cool idea & thanks for the dose of nostalgia

Nice vid. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I graduated in 1974 and even though I know it wasn't my class being shown, it looks like it could have been for sure.
is it just me or does it hit 2012 and then all the years look the same after that
i think it's because kids are used to having phones or cameras around now, it used to be a fun thing that's now so normalized that it loses its magic
Cuz world really ended at 2012, we are now just living in a simulation.
Yeah the decades do be blending
there definetly are changes. everyone wears airforces, most girls go for the baddie look, perms and mid parts, more streetwear than before. guess its easier for me to notice since im gonna be a junior
2018 onwards is where people dress like today
Captured 94-98 perfectly. Brings back so many memories. Sadly in retrospect, it seems all 4 years of high school go by as fast as they do in this video.
1985 is where humanity started to truly go off the deep end. Thats the gut feeling I've always had.
Really enjoyed this. Class of 83
I graduated year 2010. My brother, 2006. My god... where has life gone... It's going too fast.
Yo soy de los 90 y sali del 2004 pwro ya iba a entrar a secundaria en esos tiempos

For some reason the nostalgia is hitting me so hard it makes me wanna cry 🥲 Especially for the 2000s because I’ve always wanted to experience high school and life as a teenager in general during that time period 🤩

@Martina Agreed. Except you're being kinder to the music than I want to be. lol
Hs between 99 and 03... these were not good times for rap, which was my number one at that time. If I was in HS when Drake's Take Care or NWTS came out, plus having social media...I would have done damage ... and had the time of my life.

Totally lucky to be at the right place at the right time (mid 90s)!
I was a teen then as well. '90s to me, last good decade. 2000s, ok decade.
2022>
@@TLFrank98"Last good decade", this freeking quote that I keep hearing from old farts/hipsters. So do you mean that ANYTHING before the 2000's were better than the 2000's?! Let me tell you something bud, if I dropped you off in the 60's you would get lost and you'd dye out of boredom. Not unless you are actually oldschool and by that yeah I guess anything from the 2000's would be too hip and flashy for you.

I was born in 1980, but it’s still fascinating to see how many different eras & looks we went through in such a small amount of time! Huge difference from mid 80s to mid 90s 😂 and I loved it ALL *I was class of 1998 so in HS from 94-98*
same exact time frame as you and felt the same emotions.
The 70s look so fun omg
Class of 77' here, it's all gone so fast😔,
Highschool still feels like it was only 10 years ago. I graduated in 2004 and then graduated from college in 2006. I think of where I was in my life time after 2004 while watching. It makes me realize all of the milestones I hit in my life. I liked highschool it was a lot of fun growing up here in Canada. The early 2000s were a blast because that's when newer technology started coming out and it was a good time to be really young and getting the opportunity to enjoy this "futuristic" technology. Seeing the kids in 86 when I was born and all the way up to when I started highschool in 2001 puts time and life into perspective. Thinking about what my mom was doing and where she was in her life as I was being born. Counting out the years after 86 and how old I was.. it's nostalgic but also feels like an impossible dream.
I'm graduating this year and this looks sooo cool
I wish I could live in an earlier era like the 80s because it looks way more funnier than today.
That’s a long ass time to be in high school!! What stood out most for me is obviously the styles, but also the video quality improved greatly from 2007 on!
Color film fades with time
Ironically 2007 is the year everything (especially music) went downhill
The first iPhone was released in 2007
@@JustAnotherShopaholicThe only thing that has gone downhill since then is human socialization. As we see in the video, the music just continues to change with time as a representation of the time in which it was created. The music here is so important because it serves as an important part of the Zeitgeist of each era. I graduated in ‘05 and thought a lot of the newer music coming out was crap, but now I hear those same songs and realize that, not only are they “good music”, they also produce the same kind of nostalgia I felt about music from my childhood and teenage years. I remember where I was and what I was doing when those songs were popular, and it serves as a reminder of just how much has happened in my life.
This has gotta be the coolest thing I've seen so weird how the times change so fast. And being from the class of 2017, I can say the bottle flip is an accurate representation of my whole class..
Who ever created the music mix is freaking brilliant! That was definitely a looootttttt more work then just putting song mixes back to back!
It's actually very simple when you use the right tools. If you ever want to see how I can show you. Just let me know.
Love seeing how much different the kids act towards the cameras.
