- Welcome back to The Skyway! We're back with a new track and we're back to basics. In the style of our very first track, we've built a new compact circuit to host some premium diecast racing.
Today kicks off The 2024 Skyway Grand Prix.
Sixteen exquisite Hot Wheels cars facing off in the name of victory... all to call themselves Champion.

@@jamesbasey8023 good question! As of now, I won’t be, that’ll still be over at spool heads in the future. This track/tournament happened in a small window of time and space that I had. And it all happened after the handoff to Spoolheads.

Ah thanks yeah I was experimenting with more light. It always allows for more action, and more beauty. Its much more immersing in the races.

As I mentioned in the comments in group two, I checked the cars in this group and, ironically, the Ferrari was the only one not sporting FTE wheels, and yet it came in first place in this group. Just goes to show that it's the driver that wins races, not the machine or its amenities and upgrades. Stay safe and blessed. Yosh...
Ah thanks for you comments. Actually the Ferrari did have FTEs. Just a different design. I think they were the second edition of FTEs. I love the look. And I wanted these castings to be more than what was sold on the shelves. So all in-house tournament cars have FTEs. This gives uniform look and a level of equal ability across the roster. Happy new year! Love the channel and the races. -- Suggestion ... I think your aesthetic of the dark room only lit by your "street lights" is far superior. These races today where we can see the room, really breaks the illusion. Thank you.
I so agree with your suggestion! Due to shifting circumstances I had to take down the blackout curtains and do a quick simple build. The goal being something simple and “acoustic”. It was the best I could manage, but next time. I’ll be back to deeper illusion and set dressing. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching! Means a lot.

Sorry I'm late!
My first instinct was to pick Domino. What a beautiful car with nice big wheels but I’m nervous about the weight being too light. I’m a sucker for Lotus though and Drift looks splendid. So let’s go Drift!
Race 1: Maybe I should have gone with my first instinct ;) Drift showed well out of the gate, getting into second right away even though he started in the back lane, but racing can be very unforgiving and this DNF will hurt for sure.
Race 2: LOL. Did I mention that racing can be very, very unforgiving? Ouch!!!! Maybe I should cheer for him not to finish the next two races and end up with the coveted quadruple DNF?
Race 3: See. I’m not wrong. Drift is FAST!!! Just a bit unlucky too.
Race 4: I’m cheering for massive carnage here for everyone, but Drift. (After race) Dang! I totally picked the fastest car :) I’d love to see Drift race again in this Lotus on another track soon!
WAIT!!! WHAT!!! Two cars advance on!!! YEAH!!!!!!! LET’S GO DRIFT!!!!!!
Tie breaker: DRIFT! DRIFT! DRIFT!!!!!! (Me yelling louder and louder)

Gosh I truly love these comments! The give me and the tournament serious life! Drift most certainly had the surprise run dominating after two devastating races. That casting is so fast. In all of its iterations. I absolutely love Domino. That Ferrari is so gorgeous but incredibly slow. But the fact that Domino is able to move on speaks to the narrow margin this track offers. Someone needs to win and there are only a few moments that are crucial for an overtake. It’s a short track but its nuance reveals itself over time.
You’re the absolute best and I’m always grateful for your words and excitement!

We need a longer track i.e. races with @20 second finish times. We don't get to see the cars race and show their unique characteristics as much as we did on your last track which was your best.

Had to scale down my operation due to a change in circumstances. But wanted to bring things back to a simpler form of racing. Maybe in the future if I can, I’ll bring back a bigger track. But for now this is the best I could do. Thanks so much for watching 🙏
