Such a gorgeous location for a visit to retro heaven, one of my favourite things in life is hearing the merged, muddled sound of 100 arcade games all screaming for attention and yet each game sound is distinguishable, music to the ears.
I believe I played the twin sitdown cabinet of this when me and my family went on holiday to Devon back in 1998. They had an arcade there with a number of machines, including the luxurious sit down Afterburner cabinet! Ahhh, those were the days 😊
I played Exhaust Note many times in the mid 1990's in London's West-End. Back in those days there were lots arcade places dotted around that area. I played Exhaust Note with my uncle on the Twin-Cab in a big arcade place on the corner of Oxford St. and Tottenham Court Road. We spend hours on that game 50p a credit, It's a tough game. It's a lot easier to play with a modern race wheel on Mame. I've tried the Sequel: F1 Super Lap it's the same game but it has a cockpit view option, an overtake button and officially licensed F1 cars. The best 90's arcade F1 game that I've played is Slipstream which was made by Capcom in 1995. It's a really rare arcade game I think it was only released in Brazil. The track textures are a bit rough but the gameplay is Superb.
That’s very interesting mate Great that you got to play the twin in the arcades bitd and I know the arcade in London I used to go there as well. It’s the same arcade featured in the pet shop boys video “west end girls” Never heard of slipstream either I’ll have to look that up. Thanks for letting me know
Really looking forward to playing this at the AA, I remember seeing this and being blown away by how good it looked, a real step up from the previous racers. Never found playing sit down racers very easy as stand ups (getting my excuses in early)
Played this an Rad Mobile in my youthful arcade days! Just found your channel and subbed! I’m an arcade kid, SEGA in particular! Power Drift was my game but love em all!
On one of the family vacations to rural france, we ended up at a campsite that had the dual screen setup sitting in the rec. room. Must have been around 96 or 97. Spent quite a bit of my daily allowance by popping 10 franc coins into this machine. I remember it being one of the best sprite scaler driving machines I had played.
First time I played this was at the Arcade Archive. I don’t remember seeing this back in the day. I wonder if the reason this was converted was because of that arcade style of the one credit = 1 game, ie. keep the customers moving and maximise the takings, one stage and it’s time for the next person. GGs!
It was so great to meet you when we visited a couple of weeks back. If I'd known then that you had a cupboard full of PCBs I would have pressed you for San Francisco Rush: Race the Rock for my wife.
Loved this in my local arcade in shrewsbury. Wasnt a huge arcade but it had the twin sit-down machine. Rad mobile still remains my favourite though. That little sonic gradiant was genius and the crash mechanics.... memories!
My mate used to take advantage of the RADMobile sit down they at Super Bowl 2000 in Wigan. Despite them having Ridge Racer and Daytona, he would play that instead because he got his monies worth. Hr could complete it on a single credit 😂
The trocadero arcade in piccadilly circus had a whole wall of these before daytona usa was released and replaced it. Me and my mates would pop in after shopping up town to rid our change on this.
Nice find for the museum, well done rooting out what it used to be. I'm surprised this never got any kind of port, seems the kind of game (and the kind of time) it would've been a big seller even with just the one track. Looks cracking and a lot of fun, nice big chunky sprites too :)
I haven't played either of these (nor seen one down here). I don't mind racing games at all, and have my Konami Checker Flag, but an into the screen racer would be nice at some stage of course :) Heaps of the large sit-down cabs around down here just would take up way too much room.
Great video fella, F1 Exhaust note looks a fun game I think your right would be more fun playing against a mate but it still looks a load of fun on that upright. Hopefully will be able to get over to the museum in the next couple of months to try out some of these great games
I loved rad mobile bitd I thought it offered something different to the genre at the time F1 Exhaust note is a game I never got to play much in the arcades as we didn’t have it locally I do remember playing it on a family holiday in Great Yarmouth wishing my local arcade had the game Great video as always mate
alrught Alex, interesting.. We have the RM Cab if u recall filming at Timewarp but it has Mini Miligia 2 in it. Shame ur board didn't come with sound after that straight swap, maybe get someone too look at it, so yes were looking for one and maybe u talk to Stoo about our cab, maybe swap boards aound and do a follow up vid and borrow our machine and then we borrow it for a while ha.
Neil wins by virtue of the fact you murdered your pit crew 😁. Nice to see what the original cab was, a pity it got converted but I guess that's all part of the business 👍👍👍.
Sonic doesn't seem to be in the early proto photos of Radmobile. They probably threw him in at the last minute as a (distracting) bit of advertising for the upcoming Megadrive game.
I've never seen this game. Probably a bit too modern for me. As I'm visiting you next month I'd be interested to know which game this one replaced. Could you possibly put a list of the PCB's that are in the AA vault somewhere on the website, so we can mull over them? Thanks very much, Neil.
Hi Neil There is a list on the website of all the games we have but I’ve yet to make a list of the Pcbs. But your welcome to have a look at what we got when you come down
@@TheArcadeArchive That's great. Thanks very much. The game I'd really like to play again is Astro Fighter. There used to be one in our local Chinese takeaway when I was a kid and it really got me hooked. I found it quite a tense game especially with the menacing sound. I dont think they have it in the Arcade Clubs, but then again you do have some very rare games so I live in hope :-).
Another cracking video, Alex! Loved the invesitgative work! Managed to get some of this played at the weekend, it's a challenging game and you really get immersed in how competitive the race is. I've never played Rad Mobile, so it would be good to experience that at some point! Perhaps an F1 Exhaust note night, one weekend? 😉
Great game. Unfortunately I never experienced this back in the day, and several attempts to emulate the analogue controls proved to be difficult (albeit possible) so I played a bit of this game at home. Good luck with achieving the pole position!
Thanks Matt I think 1st position is going to take some practice but doable once you’ve learnt the track. Would have been nice to see a console port of this game
Rad mobile is a personal favourite, awesome game. If you take the easy routes you get a bad ending which is quite amusing. Exhaust note looks great, but for me personally I would rather play rad mobile any day.
I wish we could get one for the museum because ive not played it for years properly. I wouldn’t have got far bitd either with limited funds so would be nice to see how the game plays out.
@@TheArcadeArchive I'm pretty sure that's a prototype with hand written labels on Sega stickers, production boards have mask roms with no labels. It would be great if you can preserve this one before bitrot sets in!
I've watched a few gameplay videos on this as never played it back in the day unfortunately, lovely looking game I think. Feel a bit conflicted as love Rad Mobile so a bit of a shame that was sacrificed as that would be awesome to play again, the Saturn version is not as good unfortunately Enjoyed that Alex 👍✌️
@@TheArcadeArchive yes mate, Jap only, it's called Gale Racer, almost a launch game and very early, probably rushed out, it's not brilliant but it's still a playable home version of Rad Mobile
Really enjoying getting to know this game better. I also love Rad Mobile but it's tough to choose between the two. See you on the track Alex
I’ve got my driving gloves 🧤 on 😎
You'll only see him on the track as you lap him Neil!
If you both shaved your beards you could have a belting pair of Mansell tashes

Productions values and presentation are amazing on this video Alex, really nicely done.
It takes longer but I think the games deserve better quality videos.
Thank you 🙏

I always missed a console port of this game with all the tracks from the real F1 season

It’s very impressive and as I said in the video, fantastic sense of speed they’ve achieved with the game.

Most people don't rate this game among their racers, but I love it. Engine sound is awesome.
And the sense of speed is fantastic, shame it’s not so well known really as it’s so much fun
I remember Rad Mobile from the movie California Man/Encino Man more than anything. Only saw it in the arcades a few times growing up 😢
Rad mobile had a fantastic looking cockpit version I would have loved to play
Hello my friend hope all is well with you. Congrats on the new edition 🥃

Most definitely
What a cracking game👌
Great video,Alex, enjoyed seeing what the cab originally was.
😂😂😂the last chicane.

Standing up is an important factor when trying to replicate Murray Walker commentary over your mates shoulder.
😂

Btw the row of Daytona's at the trocadero were there for many many years, went back after a long while and they were still there, couldn't believe it
Great looking game Alex and one that passed me by. The rear mirror is a great touch 😉😉🍺🍺
Yea the mirror makes all the difference especially i recon in the twin playing against your mate

Yea huge cabinet but ideal for a big arcade. Shame it didn’t do so well maybe it’s because it didn’t have a license.
Thanks for watching Tony
