@@alancheatley4378 it was one of the arcade just outside the Pleasure Beach heading backup the promenade. It was 45+ years ago, and I was a damn sight smaller. The cactus being shot in half fascinated ‘ickle me. A lot has changed in that time, Blackpool has aged worse than me!
Wonderful memory. I also have memories of being in Blackpool in the 70s and seeing something which I believe was Kasco "The Driver".. it blew my mind as a kid. I also remembering being there in the mid 80s with friends who are no longer with us while I played the hydraulic version of Space Harrier... when I go back now it is really not what it was... but I am looking forward to going to Arcade Club at some point.
Think it might have been in The Lucky Star arcade, that was just after you go past The Pleasure Beach. The Lucky Star was a great arcade in the 80s 😁 . It has been knocked down and is a Wetherspoons now, although it's named after an old ride The Velvet Coaster.
Every time I watch a video from you or Neil, I can't help but wonder how huge of a jackpot you guys hit with Heber... and they with you. It's simply... awesome and makes me so happy that these collaborations are getting more and more frequent. The people from there are super good on cameras as well.
I was born in 65, and the arcades of my childhood were pinball and electro mechanical games like this one. When Space Invaders and Asteroids and Pac Man came out, I lost interest in the old games. But it's remarkable to look at them now and just marvel at the creativity of the original game designers. Wonderful game, wonderful video!
Great Video Guys... Been waiting for You to start the Repair of this Iconic Game since I sold it to you. It looks in Amazing condition, & hope you can restore it to it's original Iconic State. It's one of my favourite games from My childhood & brings back fond memories of playing it in Blackpool with my Dad. All the very Best Alex & Team. Keep Up the great work..🤘🤘🤘
Well worth the wait this guys, having the resources and space makes all the difference here, just a shame I couldn't see it working tomorrow so, I'll just have to come down again!. Also it was a nice touch to see my name up on the official Arcadians! See you Saturday for an action packed day of nerdy chats (MiSTer please) and arcade high/low scores.
"Well now, I've just laid my eyes on something quite special, a piece over at 'Arcade Archive' about bringing back to life an old gunslinger from the past, Sega's Gun Fight from the '60s. It's like watching a man take an old, rusted six-shooter and polish it up until it shines like it did when it first came out of the forge. They've stripped it down, piece by piece, with the kind of care and patience you'd expect from a true craftsman, making sure every gear and spring is set just right. It's more than just fixing up an old game; it's about respecting the past and preserving a piece of history so that it can stand tall and proud once again. Makes you think, doesn't it? About the things we leave behind and how they endure, long after we're gone. Now that's a restoration worth tipping your hat to."
What a beautiful machine and lovely workmanship, this restoration will be a fantastic series 👍. Looking at your workshop you've got some incredible cabinets to work on after this one 👍👍👍.
We can’t wait to get all the cabs in the background working and on to the arcade floor, it’s just going to take some time. Gunfight has been on our list todo since we opened and will take pride and place in the entrance room once finished. Thanks for watching Rob
Excellent stuff. Anything electro mechanical brings back wonderful memories for me when my father had his cafe and arcade and we had a collection of mechanical 'bingo' tables (pinballs without flippers!) - he would spend many an evening with a friend keeping them running and I would watch on in awe at the clicking solenoids and bulbs lighting on and off.
That was an amazing video its so cool to see how they built all this bet they worked so hard getting these built amazing I love your restoration videos you do and Neil just so relaxing watching this process amazing work that you all do
Great work guys. The amount of wiring and associated electronics is mind blowing. The “Sega Ages” tagline must have been based on the production line build time of this beauty.
The amount of care and attention you guys are putting into this is incredible. This will likely be as good as new when you're done, preserved for future generations to appreciate. Great work!
YES! Y’all are the best. I’ve always wanted to see and know more about the insides. Thank you so much. Loved the soundtrack too.🤠 See ya on the trails, pahtnahs.
Will be a quality job. Love these machines that are on the cusp of me just about remembering being in late 1970s amusement arcades. They had a certain smell as well when the arcades were full of warm softly buzzing EM machines. Good luck with the refurb.
Amazing seeing everything, i hope you can keep us updated on the restoration progress as it's so interesting. A lot of work but it's a piece of history, can't be many left out there
I listened to Marty Robbins - Big Iron whist watching this. It was appropriate for sure. What a huge task. I'm in the wrong job. I'd do this for free. Love this channel and all at the collective. Awesome work being carried out at a very special place in the world by you wonderful people.
Great video guys! So fascinating to see what makes these tick! Never came across very many mechanical arcade game when growing up. But still have a fascination for the engineering and art design.
Awesome video Alex! I noticed you are using a Phillips screwdriver on what looks like are JST screws. It's no wonder you had such a hard time with them. Pick yourself up a Vessel brand JST screwdriver. I got a Vessel impact JSTb screwdriver as I work on Japanese motorcycles too.
Thanks Thighe but I don’t think it would make much difference these screws are completely rusted and will not budge. But I’ll look into that thanks. Hope your well buddy
@@TheArcadeArchive well you won't strip the heads as much, an impact one would loosen them, but it would probably shatter the acrylic in the process. I don't know if they sell PB Blaster in the UK, but it's a trillion times better at getting rusty screwed and bolts loose than WD 40
Wonderful to see the EM and Video Gunfight machines in the same shot. The video game was on the first I ever saw circa 1978.. I've never seen the EM version... it's amazing they still exist as their money making ability was long gone by the end of the 70s.
What a great project. I'm a little surprised at how many components there are there, so I hope you don't end up with too much work. Good luck with it, looking forward to the upcoming videos.
What a fantastic arcade machine. Alex, you were kind enough to open it up for me and show me the insides of it when I was at The Cave last year. Absolutely fascinating, thanks for that and really looking forward to following the progress of this restoration. I'll definitely have to come back to play on it when you've finished.
I have a vague childhood memory of playing one in an arcade in Borth. Inside looks like a similar vintage pinball table, which is no surprise. You've been luck with the cables, both my table have 50 shades of grey cabling.
This is going to be fantastic if you can get it all working Alex Looking better already with the play field cleaned. Looks a lot to work through but what an epic centrepiece it will make All the best to you both 👍

Do you have any of the vintage helicopter games in your collection? Whiry Bird, Helicopter, Chopper? An amusement park called Cedar Point in Ohio used to a lot of vintage machines like this in their arcade. I was too intimidated to play them as a kid. But have fond memories of them!
These EM things absolutely fascinate me - what an amazingly intricate piece of engineering. You're doing a grand job!
Thanks Rees
To restore something this well takes ages.
I’ve got a very happy memory of playing this with my grandfather on holiday in Blackpool. Happy times. Thank you so much for this upload.
Do you know where in Blackpool it was? Always remember the Pleasure Beach having plenty really old games near the Big Dipper

Absolutely brilliant to watch this thing being restored. Should make a 3D Scan of the gunmen and sell 3D prints in the gift shop!

This game is rigged up like a pinball machine, will love to see it running 😊

Amazing piece of history, before my time even. Can't wait to see it progress.
Oh my, I played this in my late teens... I need a nap now.
thank you for this, full teardowns of old machines are very useful for future preservation. Looking forward to the next episode
Replace cowboys with Alex and Neil and put Richard as a barmaid in the saloon.🤣🤣🤣 Cant wait to see it working.👍

Cracking work as always Alex! Really excited to see how this one turns out!
I’ve been waiting for this one! Incredible how much effort these old arcades had put in them. Great episode, looking forward to the next one already!

is really extraordinary, never seen anything like it, going to be amazing to see it going again!

Just brilliant. Cheers from America. Looking forward to your progress!!! Thank you for doing this.
Always nice to see Arcadians from the USa 🇺🇸

Great to see this being stripped down, the playing field looked so much brighter after the cleaning.
Look forward to seeing it come to life mate.
Thanks Dave

cool machine, never seen anything like it here in europe
I remember playing this as a nipper in early 70s, in a Glasgow arcade/bingo venue.
That is an incredible piece of history and a fantastic project!
I have been looking forward for this video for a long time! Thank you guys so much for this update!
Fantastic. Been looking forward to this for ages. So fascinating. Looking forward to the next episode and hopefully playing it one day 😍
Been looking forward to seeing you guys tackle this project. Awesome stuff!
It’s a lot of work but you have broken the back of the first part at least. It is going to be wonderful to see such an old classic come back to life.
Thank you Tony

How is the restoration coming along? Any parts availability challenges or just backed up with other great projects?
Need my progress update!
I'm looking forward to seeing this restored. It's going to be a lot of work but will be worth it in the end.

The right to service certainly doesn't exist anymore such a cool design

Chin up mate. All u can do is be a decent person, spread ur own happy vibes to the people around you and stay positive
15:47 Didn't I see this on top of the Delorean hood in BTTF 3?
love it

Cracking vid mate dont make them like they used too
Thanks Lee
The games are easy to service? There's a reason they were called Service Games!
Just call it part 1 in the title.
