Exactly TMNT and X-men arcade 4-player been amongst my favorite from my childhood, during holidays back in the day spending loads of time in the local arcade.
I remember back in my college days in the mid 90s, at Uxbridge college, the Uxbridge site, we visited Quasar all the time. "Squeak" knew the owner and they had an NBA Jam cabinet. He'd play it all the time and when no one in the office in the corner was looking he'd lay on the floor and push his foot on the bezel whatever you call it, where the joystick and buttons rest. It would pop the bezel up and he could slide his hand in and clock up free credits. Then push it back down again, don't think anyone knew him and his mate did that.
Thanks for the update Alex, that pump house looks gorgeous! What a great space to fix up the old cabs. TMNT was always around when I was little, at chip shop and leisure centre and I loved it. Today I do find it quite repetitive but back then I was loving it.
So many potential treasures lurking in your cupboard of wonder 👍. Pity some of the old boards are needing a bit of Arcade Archive TLC but I guess that's just the nature of the hobby, we're lucky they're in safe hands 👍👍👍.
@@TheArcadeArchive I'm no carpenter either, but I do similar work so can relate. 2 days to put those up means you put love into it, and they'll last a lifetime. It's beyond a decent job :)
The new board storage area looks really good, I need some board stands as well. The new area for storage and repairs will be very handy, restoration takes time and you need space to do it plus I am sure lots of people will be interested in the repair service. Not a Street Fighter person myself but I know some of my other local friends absolutely love it. Not a big fan of Turtles either but don't mind a decent beat 'em up, not something I played back in the day, but a genre I have gotten into in recent years. Haven't seen Spiderman before, that looks brilliant, I really like the mix of general fighting and platforming. Galaxian hardware is really cool, in a way it's what some of the home hardware (like MSX) was modelled on, a very similar tile-based layout. I have dabbled in converting one of my games to the hardware. I have my original Sega Galaxian board (which still needs work), a clone that has fast bullets, and another that has a different ROM set that I haven't got working yet. Bonus cake! :)
Hey Tony Spider-Man plays and looks amazing, it’s only recently I’ve got into the game but it’s got me hooked. I will return to the games once they are fixed as I would love to do a full play through. Looking forward to seeing your Helifire working
That fast fire Galaxians looked so cool, would love to try that. Galaxians is such a nostalgic game, amound those very early arcade memories and so happy to have it in my arcade1up at least. The sounds alone are enough to bring a huge smile. Great vid Alex.
Looks like a great space mate, I'm sure the repair service will prove popular. Glad your getting into the turtles mate, although it's a bit of a coin eater it's great fun. I'm alright ta mate, won't eat my dinner 😂
Bloody sods law with filming your arcade plays. If the board boots up the sound doesn't work. If the sound works the camera's battery runs out 😂 BTW Very minor note about the video's thumbnail. As someone else here has stated, it's "Lets" not "Let's". Thanks for the great video as always. The drone footage really shows the majesty of the surrounding area 🥰
I really enjoyed this video as well! Those drone shots were amazing. You should sneak some more in. It was nice to see Gloucestershire from a birds eye view. Great repair space, too Arcade Archive has made great progress, I'm looking forward to another update 😀
Fantastic video mate! Love that new shelving and the repair space is going to be incredible! Really proud to see how far you've come with the museum 💪🏻
Great video Alex, you’ve been really busy. The pump house looks like a good space for storage, repairs and refurbs. Shame about the faults on those boards, but they looked good while they lasted. I need to have a look at Spiderman, it looks really good.
Great work mate, the CRT repair center sounds handy as I have 3, and while they're giving a great picture there are some niggles like not being centered. And I'm not going to stick my hand into a high voltage CRT! Plus the obligatory troll about Pacman (which you don't have) haha...I'm terrible at the game, but for me it's the sound of the 80's Arcade...Walk into any arcade back then and you can either hear the tune at the beginning, the death of a Pacman or the waka-waka, no matter where you were within the arcade!
Well stay tuned mate we might now have a Pac-Man 😉 I’m with you on the sounds of the early 80s games, they just made a atmosphere all of their own and nothing quite beats that.
Sound cutting in out is probably just a cold solder joint, should be an easy fix. You probably already know this, just excited for the new additions while watching the video :)
@@TheArcadeArchive If you try everything, and it's just not working, last resort, you hit it with the heat gun, total board reflow. Section by section at first. Then if need be, literally stick the whole thing in the oven. But I'm sure if you got some talented volunteers, one of them will suggest this if it gets to that hail mary stage. Good luck and all the best!
Can be the caps on the amplifier circuit. My board had sound that would gradually get worse in quality until it just stopped working the longer it ran.Replacing 2 of them fixed it. I also found if they aren't on properly then various sounds and voices stop working. Only problem mine has now is player 4 is stuck moving to the left. It's a board issue as I've tried multiple controllers and harnesses, changed a couple of chips too but I've had no luck fixing it.
15:16 The funny thing with nostalgia is its just experience. So with TMNTs I only ever got to part of the next stage then would always die and walk away. So when I play it now, I only like it up to that point then get bored. Exactly the same with Final Fight. Now I can finally play Final Fight on MAME and on my Switch, once I get past part of the 2nd stage I get bored as I never used to get that far.
I’m the same mate it gets very repetitive after a while. I do like Dungeons and Dragons and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and maybe a few others that grab me but I don’t play them much.
Enjoyed this been working away to it this afternoon. The new space looks great, I definitely have some PCBs you can look at that are beyond my skills. Would certainly like to see fighting games make an appearance, SF2 obvioulsy but not sure which MK i'd choose.... probably 2 for me, 3 went bonkers haha. Turtles is really repetiive for me, I agree, great for kids tho and it was magic seeing it just boot up first time like that.

Great video as always Alex, hope you're well and you've been able to dig out some fixes for the issues on the boards.
This is interesting. I have a non-working monitor which I don't quite have the nerve to try and repair myself... if you ever do any repair workshop type days I would love to come down and bring her, my monitor 😀, along!
Interesting that Konami could keep the original TMNT theme song but need to use the "HERO" bit on the title screen. Did the TV cartoon in the UK have an altered theme song or were they allowed to sing "ninja"?
@@ChrisShadowens what I can say is in the 80s the uk had the strictest censorship laws in the west.
