@@charactersin-depth3472 I believe you, It's just... why? I can't wrap my head around it; she's so inoffensive and was good for girls like myself back then who were girly but played on gameboys all day. Thank you so much for defending her!

Big is unironically one of my fav Sonic characters. A simple-minded, but kind, laid-back and good-natured gentle giant, who's perfectly happy leading a simple life in his jungle, relaxing and fishing with his pet frog, but will not hesitate to go to the ends of the Earth for his friends. What's not to like?
I myself always loved Cream, I don't get how people find her annoying, she's really sweet. And in Sonic X, Cream takes down fccking *Emerl.* She's just a girl with a good heart and she gets *hate???* GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
That's how Cream always sounds. So what? That's no reason to hate her. You want a real annoying voice? Go look at Toad from Super Mario Bros. Hearing him makes my ears wanna bleed.
It's mainly due to her voice. She is basically the Toad (or Toadette) of the Sonic games. I think her voice got better in Generations. Honestly, I feel like voice acting was always somewhat responsible for the dislike of Sonic's friends. I know that's the reason I couldn't stand Tails in Heroes.
TBF Cream's defeat of "Emel" in X was kind of a load of bunk. She wins because he can't track her and Cheese at the same time, when he had no issues tracking Sonic, Knuckles, and Rouge at once like five minutes earlier. Also, it really diminishes the actual finale of Emerl's story that they were supposed to be adapting. In the game, Sonic takes on Emerl, who is A) a fully realised character, B) Basically Sonic's kid, and C) Overflowing with the power of all seven Emeralds, not just one. And Sonic fights him in base form, with both combatants moving so quickly that their entire ten-round throwdown lasts just thirty seconds in real-time. It's basically the Battle Arc's own version of Chris replacing Amy in SA2.
Exactly, do you know how loud I screamed when I watched that scene? I was literally about to burst in tears lolll it was so emotional tbh. Cream has so much heart but can be tough when she needs to be. A shame she's always being tossed to the side.
I agree with every analysis you made, I would've added rouge too as I feel she just gets lumped with the word "slut" because of her clothes and people don't see the very intelligent character Sega made. Awesome video
@@vectorfan2 well yes most people think he only cares about money and finding the computer room and fail to see that he's the smartest out of the chaotix and will help someone in need for free if they really need the help but cant afford it and much more that i just don't really feel like talking about right now because I just cant remember them right now

@@vectorfan2 wow ok youtube thanks for not notifying me of this commemt anyway Yeah but a big part of why sonic 06 sucked was because sega being themselves and rushing the game hell im not sure if it's true but when the game was tested and the game testers told the higher ups about the bugs they just ignored it and told them to release it but like i said im not sure if it's true but i 100% know it was rushed
I really enjoy Charmy. The way he and his team poke fun at each other is honestly pretty funny. And it's not even like he's a unimportant side character. He was the one who activated doctor gerald's video at the end of shadow the hedgehog which helped shadow immensely.
@@casualvanilla Even Hsu Hao and Kobra aren't unsalvageable. They managed to improve Stryker and Bo Rai Cho, so they can do the same for them. There's no sense in throwing these characters away.
Superficial reasons which are what caused Sega to write them like how they would negatively envision these characters with great potential in the 2010s games • Sonic going from a cocky but heroic inspiration for his people to a Gary-Stu who only wants what’s best for him (until Frontiers turned him back into what he really should be)… probably because out of all the Sonic characters, he was the one that the majority found to be the most flawless… but without flaws, characters would my be interesting or identifiable. • Tails going from a hero to back to being an even more obnoxiously cowardly little kid than he was in the 1990s before Sonic Adventure 1 and king before he was Classic Tails. • Knuckles going from both a brainy and brawny hero to an idiot who is only good for constantly insulting Sonic for having the ego he too has. • Amy Rose going from someone who can fight her own battles (imagine if she were so strong that she could fight without a Piko-Piko Hammer like other Sonic characters, that would be awesome) to someone who would have no personality other than having a much stronger crush on Sonic than she did in the 1990s - 2000s. • Dr. Eggman going from a threatening opponent with some good in him to someone who doesn’t take himself seriously enough. • Shadow going from an anti-hero with a lot of personality (and is very physically powerful with super speed and Chaos Control) to an edgelord that would even tell Sonic that friends would make anyone weak in Sonic Boom where he was at his worst. • Rouge going from someone with more personality than the average femme fatale to a typical femme fatale like in Sonic X, the Archie Comics and Sonic Free Riders. • Metal Sonic going from his own villain to a lackey of Dr. Eggman when he had way too much in different incarnations even though Scratch and Grounder never needed to be replaced as Eggman’s minions. • Everyone else barely even being utilized.
I completely forget Lacey Chabert did the voice for Princess Elise. First time SEGA actually got Hollywood talent to voice a Sonic character. I loved her in Mean Girls, and other stuff.
Characters In-Depth I just saw it. She actually delivered as Gwen Stacy. And if I remember correctly, she was also the voice of Eliza Thornberry, from The Wild Thornberrys.
I'm kinda torn on Elise. On one hand she really isn't as bad as people make her out to be. However it was kinda selfish of her to say how she doesn't care if the world is screwed all because she doesn't want to lose sonic. And unlike Chris Thorndyke who had a whole show to develop. Elise is only in one game and it is a real shame we never got to see her more often. Also her going through her whole childhood without crying is a little bit unrealistic but she is still a decent character.
She clearly didn't mean it tho. Like, imagine you had to pick between the person you love and saving the world. Of course you would pick the world, but you would still be shattered by the fact that you had to never see the person you love. Her "I don't care what happens to world" quote means that she knows that saving the world is the right thing to do, but she's distressed about losing Sonic. Being with Sonic was the first time in 10 years she finally got to live her life and enjoy it to the fullest. Her reaction is completely normal.

We all know elise was one of those weird furries like cmon was the kiss really needed? Hell if yes i would have preferred BIG to kiss sonic more than i prefer elise to do it
I always saw Elise and sonic's relationship as a form of escapism which is why I like her so much. She's lived her whole life being screwed from the start and never had a chance to breath. Sonic gave her the chance to live freely and get away from the stress of iblis, crying, and just being a princess. Her line of not caring what happens to the world was just proof of all that pain she's had. I don't think she really meant it but deep down she was just a broken mess from losing so much in life. And man, to think this comes from sonic the hedgehog..this series is beautiful.
@@___8241 i like the way you put it but her getting kidnapped all the time and the romance thing just ruins everything. 06 us truly just wasted potential
@@Marc-rw3dd Fiction is filled with interspecies relationships, but people only take issue with this one. People can ship Jessica Rabbit and Roger Rabbit, Rouge and Topaz and other interspecies relationships all the want, but Sonic and Elise is too far? I'm sorry, but I find that argument really silly. And I don't see how their romance was too far? It was just a kiss. It's not like they had an hour long sex scene or some shit. Their interactions were as innocent as it could get.
I actually appreciate Big, particularly in the Archie Sonic comic series where he is actually helpful in very dire situations. A gentle giant is how I would describe him.
Thank you for defending Cream! She's my fav, I was a little, shy and tried-to-be-polite girl when I got into videogames, and Cream introduced me to the crazy world that was Sonic, and immediately identified with her. Seeing her take action at saving the world (and her mom) despite being so young (we we're the same age!) really inspired me back then! Of course, I'm technically an adult now, but I still consider her my fav Sonic character, she has a special place in my heart, and seeing people hate on her for so many years was really sad.
Me too. I personally don't mind most characters (I also don't mind Chris) and I still love Cosmo. I still hate Orbot, Cubot, Deadly Six, Dodonpa and Lyric though.
@@tiruliru1189 Me too, I just don’t see the appeal in those Sonic characters (or at least, the fact that these were not the Sonic characters that were notorious for their incredibly negative reception).
I'll mention another character. Marine the Raccoon from Sonic Rush Adventure. Most people say the same things about her. "She's annoying, she's always doing things that she's not capable of, she acts like she's in charge but hides whenever Robotnik, Captain Whisker, Johnny or Eggman Nega show up" and so on. First off. Marine is a CHILD! . (She's confirmed to be 7 years old. That's almost as old as Tails and she's as hyperactive as Charmy too.) Plus, she's lived almost her entire life on an island prior to meeting Sonic and Tails. Who in that kid's position WOULDN'T want to go off and explore the first chance they got? Plus, because she was never given any sort of rules from parents, she was never told not to do something. Sonic, Tails and Blaze helped to keep her in line. (Even Shadow had a few things to tell her in the Archie comics.) Honestly though, it's not like Marine's really done anything these days and while I don't like her much, I'd still prefer Marine over Sticks.
no one got far enough to the point she stows away on the ship and steals the plot macguffin back, along with her what the fuck scene in the core where she *stuns* something both playable characters powered by the emeralds are having trouble in fighting. All this is after a scene explicitly telling the audience 'yeah, we know she's annoying, now here's some character development after we actually tell her that' fuckers only like to play to the midway point, end it and fucking moan about shit they never played
Yeah, I always say that Sonic Forces would be a better game if they allowed the story more room to breathe. Let Sonic be 'dead' longer, give the other characters more time to shine. And flesh out the avatars character arc. Because he does have one, and a fairly likable and relatable one. The game just needed to be longer, and the writing fleshed out, most of the games problems came from how short it was.
@@zorakthelonemantisoftheapo5680 Even classic sonic could have worked, if they had given him something to actually do. Something that could only be accomplished by a second sonic, or maybe some missions before modern Sonic showed up. I know why he was there, it was the tie in plot to Mania. But they could have made at least a token effort to make his inclusion actually necessary. But yeah, in the plots current state, all classic Sonics levels could have just been given to tails, or just dropped all together.
Thank you, most of these characters are a favorite to me, Cream, Charmy, Chip, Big, Silver, and Avatar Omochao is neutral but i don’t hate him I don’t like Princess Elise, if she was better written and I wish she never had that romantic relationship with Sonic.
I remember my friends had Adventure DX on GameCube and they always passed me the controller when it came to Big's levels. I actually had fun playing them because it reminded me of fishing with my grandpa. And Big's theme always made me smile
I appreciate this video a lot. And I don’t think any of the Sonic characters you put here don’t deserve to be hated at all. I can’t believe people would hate on Cream. She’s an adorable character. Her and her mom, Vanilla. And Charmy is cool even though he did have his moments of being annoying but that still didn’t stop me from liking him. And you’re right about one thing, the fandom can be such total nitpickers and just blindly hating on a character and refuse to read beneath the surface and understand context clues. Overall great video 👍🏾
Big is one of my favorites... Why? In SA1: he’s a major relief and break from all the fast, edgy, and adventurous characters. Big has his OWN story and personality that is unique and works with the main plot in ways you wouldn’t notice. He doesn’t show up a whole lot in other games but I liked his relationship with Amy and Cream in Heroes. And I don’t think Big is dumb, he fishes in the middle of nowhere with a frog, you don’t need to use a whole lot of intelligence and mental energy for that. Big is a simple guy that doesn’t have to deal with the world saving drama that every other Sonic character does. tldr; I love Big the Cat!
@@tannermarkland5214 that's your opinion and I respect it I think he's pretty cool and also pretty OP, he's a tank in Chronicles and in the Forces mobile game, he's versatile
@@Blanktester685 Chaos… he’s edgy and his story was basically modified for Shadow’s. Echidnas come and wreck his altar, hurt his Chao friends and Tikal… cause Chaos to seek vengeance on the whole world. Once he gets all the emeralds, he floods Station Square. In Shadow’s case: G.U.N invades his home on the Space Colony Ark; imprisons and slaughters anyone and everyone involved with his Creation, including his best friend/surrogate sister Maria. Shadow is then programmed to set the Ark’s course to destroy Earth using the Chaos Emeralds.
I've always held the belief that every Sonic character can be very likable, if given a speck of decent writing. We've seen too many examples of characters once called great, being given the same bad treatment for getting written as annoying idiots. Modern Tails and Shadow are "terrible characters" in that way. But we've seen them be better. We know it's not the characters themselves that are the problem. They're just being misused. I made this msitake myself, calling Amy a bad character, because I was unlucky and played the games where she was written poorly. The Sonic team could be great, if they were allowed to be written well. Which means, we've gotta rely on the fans. Fan games, fan comics. Anything owned by Sega is going to just be a dissapointment. Sega have always been the problem with Sonic.
I agree with you on all of them. But atleast bring Cream and Cheese. I can even understand why she wasn't in Forces. She would be scared for life. And I like Big too.
"there's another character that debuted in 06 ive been meaning to defend but he deserves a whole video to himself" ...who... ...who hates silver? Yea people hated his gameplay and how where less than stellar about how he acted in 06 But after 06 I've seen nothing but love and admiration for Silver. He's just considered to be the 'good innocent boi' of the hedgehog trio. I don't believe I know anyone who straight up hates Silver
@@charactersin-depth3472 Which is a shame because Silver is a very unique and likeable character. Btw I love your channel and your content! It's so refreshing to see someone who knows what these characters are all about while defending and praising them!
After finally finishing Sonic Unleashed, Chip feels to me like the best sidekick Sonic has ever had. He's more like a deuteragonist really. He accompanies Sonic throughout the entire adventure, and even fights alongside him in the final battle, in a giant voltron-like contraption! And when they part ways, knowing they'll never see each other again, while it feels very very sad, it also feels like a well-written end for the game.
Charmy will always be one of my favorite Sonic characters. He’s a young hyperactive kid who loves adventure. Plus the Chaotix team would be empty without him around.
My thoughts on all these characters: -Chaotix - Not so bad, but I do wish they could do more stuff. -Cream & Cheese - Very cute, but also cool! -Chip - Not so awful. -Omochao - A neat little tutorial robo. -Avatar - Not so bad, but I think he belongs on multiplayer. -Big - Really sad that a good character like Big is memed. -Elise - I think she deserves a better future. Honorable mentions (IMO): -Marine -Cosmo -Chris Thorndyke -Helen The list could go on and on. There are many characters that are either amazing or underrated.
@@cupio-stardustShe was put in the Sonic haters' list of "Sonic's Stupid Friends". The same list as Amy Rose, Tails, Shadow, Knuckles and EVEN Sally Acorn from SATAM/Archie
It can also be said that Dark Gaia is a metaphor for how the world itself seems to be overwhelmed with evil+hopelessness and Chip is the little bit of "Light" we as humans have within us to keep good+hope alive that we can shift that balance to make the world better.
Charmy is awesome, I really want him and the other Chaotix to get a new 2D game, perhaps with some mechanical tweaks so he's not too much of a super-duper-easy mode, but either way just would be refreshing to not have the ring chain mechanic holding them back. Level design could revolve around the team - Vector could push, pull, lift and swim, Espio could do all the stealth, tech and climbing, and Charmy could fly to high places and fit through small places. And maybe you have to take all three through a level at once, changing between them as you do (by them talking to each other on walkie-talkies maybe), and only complete it once they're all at the end. Something like that! That'd be awesome. :D
you made me emember my soft spot for cream i have memories of playing 2d sonic games and being ecstatic when i got to play as cream bc 'YIPPEE BUNNY THAT FLIES' idk if these might have been dreams but i remember being happy over cream in a 2d game and i have always loved her since dont diss my girl cream edit: i was really young, like 5-7
Honestly, elise would've had much more fans if her relationship with sonic and some of her actions were different. Try giving her a shadow/Maria kind of relationship with Sonic (REALLY good friends who care a lot about each other) for example.
Leave that bug alone He was hated by his own team in Sonic the Comic. He loses a childhood friend The whole colony and family He loses his memory and fiancée in Archie. And in IDW, he became the first game character to be turned into a zombot
I agree with the initial idea and I like most of the characters. However I don't agree with your concluding statement of a character written badly makes not a bad character (you said just cuz a character written in the story is bad doesn't mean they are) when said character's only source is that bad writing. I personally really dislike Chip and no matter how you slice is Elise is super weak and overall a terribly handled character. They have interesting story and/or lore but presented to us I'd have rather had any of the other characters follow us. But otherwise I actually like all of the characters.
Just gonna give my thoughts on each character but before that, I have a theory as to why the Sonic cast is so vahemiatly hated by the general gaming community even though they don't deserve it. Sonic Heroes I'm not talking the amount of playable characters nor the fact you need to play 4 times to unlock true ending. I'm talking the fact that during gameplay, **No one shuts up. It's all tutorializing and repetitive remarks**. Sonic Heroes is one of the best selling Sonic games in the early 2000's, right when the internet was taking off. So most newcomer's first impressions of these character were mostly negative due to said aspect. Also, I personally consider "Sonic, this time there's no way out of marrying me" the 2000's version of "Sonic, help me!" in Forces in terms of character assassination. and the fact that it was so early on also contributed to the hate. Enough of that though. Cream-This one really upsets me. There are lots of characters who envoke pure positivity and wholesomeness, but still are acceptable targets for hate just because they're bland and a few select moments that contradict their personallities. Darwin Watterson from Gumball is another example. It upsets me so because they're some of my favourite characters from their respective franchise, and Cream is certainly no exception. On a side note I want to see Cream interact with Shadow. Kind of like a Ying Yang situation. Charmy-He's my favourite member of Team Chaotix but I do understand why he can get disliked. For crissake he's a bee. I don't like bees and most people likely don't too. However I do respect them, and in Charmy's case, being a bee isn't used to be a loudmouth, rather a versitile weapon for the Team. I also find it very wholesome that the 3 main kid characters of Sonic (Tails, Cream and Charmy) all can fly. Chip- I'm partial to him since Sonic Unwiished was my first Sonic game, although my first exposure to the little guy was the Night of the Werehog short. I liked him there and he pleasant here. The one thing I don't like about him is his voice. I very much prefer his Japanese voice which exemplified his light theming more. Omachao-I think he was better when he didn't have a mouth attached to him. Giving him a triangle one goes against the cuteness factor of Chao to begin with in favour of something creepy. I just saw him as a basic tutorial character, which thankfully is optional but doesn't carry the same memorability as, say, Tikal from Adventure 1. Avatar-Forces bothers me as much as everyone else but this guy was by far the best thing about it. He had a good arc in the story but more importantly I just love customization in characters. I admit I did have a Sonic OC long ago (A Tasmanian Tiger btw, my sister came up with that idea), so I am a bit partial to this guy Big-He's okay. I don't like fishing for B and A ranks but he just seems like a stupid guy just for the sake of being a stupid guy. He shines best as cameos. I'd like to see him more as an idiot facade Elise-Wow, I am shocked you had the gal to defend this girl as she was one of the main reasons Sonic 06 was hated. It really is the Damsel in distress shtick that makes me dislike her. The writers are capable of writing a good Damsel in distress with Amy but here it just feels like a thing associated with her, being captured 5 times. Although I will say I do like the idea of her, so I can see where you're coming from.
Thank you for the defense of Charmy. He was my favorite as a child, and a big comfort character for me. Most of his annoying traits can just be chalked up to being a hyperactive child- and one's that probably too young for the duties as a detective placed on him. But I love all his dynamics with his teammates, and he contributes to the comedy of his trio as a whole.
Love these videos... and now I wait for the inevitable reversal to pop up in my recommendations where you lambast the series for never being good. As a Sonic fan, I've learned to expect this sort of thing. Lord, this is a miserable franchise to have the misfortune of falling in love with >.>
I love Charmy Bee so much. I understand why people found him annoying in Shadow The Hedgehog, but he’s not bad in all the other games, he’s not even annoying in recent games. To me, Charmy is not just “some annoying kid with no real purpose”, he’s a fun kid that mildly misses and teases his teammates while still having a heart to help his friends when needed. He’s a pretty good tracker and somewhat strong for his age. It’s true that we see him annoying his teammates and Vector scolds him a lot, but that’s family culture for you. Besides, if Vector disliked Charmy or thought that he’s useless, he would’ve fired him a long time ago, but I’m pretty sure he has faith in Charmy. Although it’s probably just the comics that do Charmy justice, Sega doesn’t care about him nowdays.
I do think cream is very adorable and Like the idea of a flying rabbit, but I gotta admit, she can at times often feel very useless in stories. like, she only became a very significant character in sonic x in the last arcs of Season 2. Still, doesn’t mean I dislike her, and I’m surprised some people hate her. Either way, I just hope Sega utilizes her more offen.
12 seconds in and I see Tails on “10 worst game protagonists” who hates Tails? Why do they hate Tails? Tails has been one of my favorite characters for along time, and not just sonic characters
Trust me I really do want Big to take a break. Seriously though, I don't have anything against these characters or at least most of them. I like Cream and Charmy's characters, the Avatar was one of the things that made Forces enjoyable for me and Elise wasn't necessarily a bad character but rather she was used kinda poorly. As for Big and Chip, I don't really think much of them. For me, in Chip's case, his emotional bond with Sonic is what makes him stand out the most. As for Omochao, when you put it that way and mention his name origin I dislike him less. I guess it's the tutorial thing that makes his character detested cuz it is kinda annoying when you have to stop every 5 seconds in Team Rose's intro stage.
Yeah Big is not bad character, or the worst, but he kinda scares me. Like when I played Heroes his voice was so creepy to me, and his never changing expression, it gives me creeps too. While he was nice and kinda "tank" of the team, I never played as him just because he scared me so much ;-; Either way I totally agree with your analise of this characters. And yours videos are kinda inspiring though, just some looking from a different side guy who actually look on both sides of medal... I only regret that you have this little amount of videos, I can't wait to see more in the future. Keep up the good work
Big the Cat is one of my favorite characters. Also, the "fishing mini-game" style is...look, I had to put up with fishing in Ocarina of Time so there's no reason to complain about Big's play-style.
They should do what Halo did: make a customizable character the one you play as in multiplayer and win customization items from completing the story and playing matches. I really hope they bring the feature back, it's really fun to be able to play as your own character.
People who hate Cream have no heart I don’t know how anybody could hate her she is such a pure, innocent, and adorable little bunny girl. Cream does not deserve the hate she gets whatsoever.
@@robymammon610 I agree. I don’t hate Cream because we’re too smart to hate on a little girl, it’s just that she could use more potential like in the IDW Comics where she shows more personality than just Amy’s adoptive younger sister as Tails and Knuckles are to Sonic, Rouge and E-123 Omega is to Shadow and Espio and Charmy are to Vector).
jerrymiirules2 The Chaotix have so much wasted potential. Well, most of Sonic’s friends have wasted potential, but I feel like the Chaotix are especially underrated.
jerrymiirules2 yeah, Espio is not that underrated. He’s actually pretty loved despite the fact that he doesn’t have much personality outside of the ninja stereotype. In my opinion, Vector and Charmy feel like much more alive characters because they’re more expressive and not one-dimensional. They talk and interact with each other more, while Espio is just there. People only like Espio more than the other Chaotix members because he’s “cooler”. Even though many fans will disagree with me since a lot of people think that that Vector is just a money-loving idiot and that Charmy is an annoying and useless kid. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that I dislike Espio, I just feel like Sega (and even the IDW comics) fail at expanding his character. I love Espio mostly because I saw many fan-work that portray as the grumpy yet somewhat chill teen that cares about his teammates/family. I wish he was portrayed like that in the games. Sometimes it just feels like Vector is Charmy’s dad while Espio is in the background. I know that this isn’t what you meant, but I went too far and started expressing my feelings. And yeah I agree that Vector and Charmy the most underrated characters.
jerrymiirules2 Honestly, I don’t know if there are more people that appreciate Vector and Charmy. Sometimes I feel like there are many people who noticed how underused they are by Sega, but no one actually mentions it while there are many people that mention how underused Cream is. Hell, Charmy was only playable in Knuckles Chaotix and Sonic Heroes and he appeared in far less games than Cream. Despite that, I saw people complaining about him “participating” in Sonic Forces but not Cream , even though he didn’t receive any attention and had a few lines. I even saw delusionals who said he appears in “more” games than Cream. I should mention the fact that I don’t understand why people think that Charmy does nothing and that he’s less helpful than Cream. I know that Cream is far more mature than Charmy, but just because he happens to be hyperactive and scatter-brained doesn’t mean that he’s too dumb to fight with his friends. He’s not a skilled fighter and not really the wisest person but then again he’s six years old. Charmy is actually really capable for his age from what we’ve seen from Sonic Heroes and the comics. He can atleast fight badnicks and bad guys and stay away from danger, and this the part where the entire fandom will disagree with me, but Charmy is pretty helpful for a kid. He’s a good tracker, can point out and find objects that his teammates might often miss. I like to believe that one day Charmy will be just as good as Vector and Espio! I feel like the internet is a wonderful and a cursed place at the same time. Yeah, you will find the best people who you might have fun talking to, but you will also find the most toxic people.
agree with this lightning round: i never got the hate with cream either(kinda think it may be from sonic x as it does get sweet that it becomes a bit grating.) as i loved her in advance 2(actually reminded me of flonne from disgaea at points as it played it around the time i got introduced to advance/love to see art of the 2 as i find it extremely funny cream's recent voice is also etna.:3) and her relationship with blaze that was alongside the music to me the best part of rush. i hate bees but love charmy(the chaotix in general who were the most untouched by bad writing in the dark age other than a few memes.) as he was pretty funny and only got about as understandably annoyed as i would with a real kid his age(and with how moronic the other characters were in the dark age.... yeah not really a huge focal point of scorn to me.). chip is probably my favorite travelling partner/new character before sage(honestly love both their stories more than shadow.) as i loved his relationship with sonic(especially those cute shorts & the end that i'd legit love to see him return as he really showed sonic's character so well.) with my only problem being tails being sidelined not even being in the shorts and the archie comics forgetting his relationship with how much a mess the unleashed arc/worlds unite was. huh, didn't know about that pun neat.. but while i thought he was weird being a robotic chao/felt like an odd replacement for tikal but actually was fond of him in sa2 especially how you can mess with him & straight up give him amnesia. think the avatar could've worked if it didn't feel forced into a story that the other friends could've handled by themselves instead of being their most incompetent(having them be a 3rd story showing them defending earth while sonic's captured/cut classic out.) and should come back as a multiplayer feature as the 3d games need another try at sa2 style multiplayer . i never had a problem with big's fishing outside the story relevance(which tbf the same could be said for gamma of being tikal being a bit desperate/knuckles who had about as much plot relevance as big in sa2 outside the end.) as it was pretty easy(and love big's theme.) and love him in the cameos(like in sa2 it was alongside the gamma enemies and tikal's multiplayer a nice way of having the main cast of adventure 1 appear/shahra accidentally bringing him to the arabian nights, also like to think alongside black knight amy invited big to her house with sonic and got sucked in when sonic left.) as well as heroes being friends with cream and amy that i wish we saw more of. love her recent appearance with silver as if you take her getting kidnapped 5 times, nearly letting things be destroyed instead of forgetting sonic and the really pretentious dark age moments/disgusting relationship with sonic she's an okay character that i wouldn't mind returning.
For Big for all when playing back through Adventure and it was coming to time to do his run I would be "Nooo!" but I never hated him as a character. And after playing through Team Sonic Racing I've kinda warmed up to the big guy, seeing him a gentle, well meaning soul. The player avatar however... That damn thing stole the playable character slot for Tails and the others! To think we could of had the option to choose any character to play through those stages as it's been too long since the others have had a chance to shine. Plus after watching through the Forces cutscenes, while facing Infinite and Sonic's giving the speech about friendship, I think it felt pretty insincere to have some no name Joe who he's only known for about five minutes, and then will never be seen again, by his side when he could have had his actual friends like Tails and Knuckles. It's the biggest scene stealer since Chris Thorndyke in Sonic X! Especially when Tails was there could have leapt into action with Sonic, like when being sucked into null space, only for Sega to be "sorry Tails, that's the player avatar's moment! But don't worry, we've got a very special job for you. You've got to make Classic (Sonic) look strong!" God I hate Forces...
Yes! Finally! Someone else who doesn't hate these characters. I personally have always liked these characters since the begining. It's good to know I am no longer alone
Elise and Big are two characters I actually like. Not as favorites, but as key additions to Sonic. Big is the slow, but lovable gentle giant, and I'd like to see Elise in a future game again. Like, imagine another game where you travel around the world, and Soleana is one of the locations. Here you can meet Elise, talk to her, and complete missions for her.
I actually loved Big the Cat. His gameplay is a relaxing break from everything else in the game, a change of pace, and his stages are even replayable thanks to the exploration mechanic he gets. Opening up new areas and exploring places that all the other characters missed, it felt like going out of bounds sometimes. His story is sweet, too. Minimal impact on the overall narrative, sure, but endearing nonetheless. Plus, Big is hecking adorable. He's so goofy and innocent, and tell me a hug from that guy wouldn't feel amazing. I dare ya!
Your channel turns the best Sonic characters into the worst Sonic characters and you turn the worst on a characters into the best Sonic characters honestly you do a pretty good job
Cream is kind and young I don't understand why people hate her. Charmy is kinda annoying but I love his free spirit attitude like sonic Chip/light gaia is kind too. He's important in sonic unleashed. Omochao I kinda hate omochoa at the past but I changed my mind. Avatar is just us in sonic forces Big is cool but doesn't show much in sonic games besides fishing is fun even though I never experienced that. Elise is polite and sweet and brought sonic back to life but I don't like the kiss.
Seriously, is this "Sonic's stupid friends" crap ever going to end? I still to this day see content creators and critics (who clearly have no idea what they're talking about) jumping on this hate bandwagon and making all the same unoriginal, unfunny jokes we've heard a million times before. At this point you people are just beating a dead horse! People keep going on about how Sega should scrap these characters and just have Sonic because "They're annoying! They're pointless! They're irrelevant!" Every time I hear this shit I'm constantly thinking "BUT THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE!" I'm not going to act like the Sonic characters are anything Oscar worthy, but with the right team of writers who care about this series and it's world and want to bring it to life, then we CAN get something worthwhile! Good writers can give these characters relevance, they can make them useful, they can give them interesting story arcs and even make them more interesting characters as a whole! And if you're the kind of person who would still dismiss them as nothing but "Sonic's stinky friends" after that, then I'd hate to break it to you but maybe the Sonic series just isn't for you! And Sega certainly shouldn't be catering to just you and ignoring the positive fans who know that there's more to Sonic than just Black Eyes and Green Hill!
I agree with you on charmy now granted he has his faults but charmy actually has tons of personality built into his character and he’s basically the embodiment of what we used to be as kids He just needs more character development then he wouldn’t be as hated
it almost seems like the most hated sonic characters aren't actually hated for their character at all, they're just a convenient target that people redirect all their frustrations with the series/particular game. people hate big the cat because in their minds he stands for everything they hate about sonic adventure, they hate elise because they hate sonic '06 not because of her personality, omochao is hated because the mechanics were handled a bit poorly and even touching it would begin an uncancellable drawn out hint for very basic gameplay tips, people hate the avatar because forces sucked. these frustrations make sense but there isn't any reason to hate these characters because of it. that said I have no clue at all why anyone would hate cream
The thing is with Sonic characters, they're all good, sometimes even great, in a vacuum. If you get down to their base characteristics, they can be far more interesting, deep and well-rounded than even the games give them credit for. But that last bit is where these characters tend to fall apart. I have yet to find a Sonic game where any of these characters were actually well utilized. Sonic Heroes is the closest, but a lot of the character and story is glossed over, in the same way, that Mario games tend to gloss over story and characters. But, unlike Mario, Sonic games don't always have the gameplay to save them. Far too often, Sega overshadows unique intricacies of characters by appealing to the most basic of characteristics, call it good, and go back to making poor game design. These characters are far too complex for the general simplicity of Sonic in general. Sega seems to really take the motto, "gotta go fast" to heart. Rushed levels, quick voice acting, short deadlines, and worst of all, run-over characters.
It is explainable,a major cast of unleashed and generations moved from sega to nintendo leaving sega with I will say it a bunch of "baby failures" .That's why new Nintendo games are ambitious like oddesy and BOTW,these were worked on by developers and artists from sonic unleashed and generations. While sega games don't take risks. Also nintendo has at least 5 people work on one series per series while sonic team has to handle sonic who are only 5 that are constantly changed.I don't blame sonic team they has zero control over the franchise despite being responsible for sonic.
Can we talk about how team Rose is mistreated, in Sonic Free Riders Amy and Cream entered without Big and in Team Sonic Racing Amy and Big are together but, not Cream.
Most of these characters I can genuinely understand where the hate is coming from. But Cream??? Why do people hate her? How can people hate her? I don't get it at all.
When I reflect on some of your comments about how shadow and knuckles are hero's for the more quiet and introverted kids who struggle to socialize, I think that way of thinking applies to big as well. This is just me but as a young kid growing up on the autistic spectrum Big was my favorite member of team rose. I love how he started off the journey as really nervous and unsure if he'd find froggy but because of the influence of amy and cream he toughened up enough to take on the egg emperor and not turn tail, and thats a giant robot with a charge that could break the calm of chess champions. While he isn't my favorite sonic character (That easily goes to vector) I'd say big is a close second. Godspeed cat hermit.
Well, i have asperger idk if is the Same with Autistic spectrum, but i am very surprised, because my favorite character is big. Greetings from Antofagasta, Chile!

Fun Fact: the Japanese voice actor for Big the Cat also voices Donkey Kong and Ganondorf
How about that.

Paper Luigi ocarina of time and wind waker ganondorf
Big is unironically one of my fav Sonic characters. A simple-minded, but kind, laid-back and good-natured gentle giant, who's perfectly happy leading a simple life in his jungle, relaxing and fishing with his pet frog, but will not hesitate to go to the ends of the Earth for his friends. What's not to like?
Guys he's not that bad see?
Big also hates Bullies and also Op in strength
I loved the outsider view he gave us of the conflict in sonic adventure
His gameplay was bad in ONE game and that made everyone hate his guts. It really infuriates me when someone makes a big the cat joke.
@Shaman Xeed It's not that hard dude
I myself always loved Cream, I don't get how people find her annoying, she's really sweet. And in Sonic X, Cream takes down fccking *Emerl.* She's just a girl with a good heart and she gets *hate???*
GUYS WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
I never even thought people hated her
TBF Cream's defeat of "Emel" in X was kind of a load of bunk.
Rouge hasn't gotten the same level of scorn like these characters have. That's why I left her out of this.

Hating on Sonic characters is like hating on 3D era Mortal Kombat characters. People hate them for the most superficial reasons.
That is shockingly accurate.
@@casualvanilla Even Hsu Hao and Kobra aren't unsalvageable. They managed to improve Stryker and Bo Rai Cho, so they can do the same for them. There's no sense in throwing these characters away.
Why doesn’t this comment have more likes
Like characters not having clothes for example...
Superficial reasons which are what caused Sega to write them like how they would negatively envision these characters with great potential in the 2010s games
• Sonic going from a cocky but heroic inspiration for his people to a Gary-Stu who only wants what’s best for him (until Frontiers turned him back into what he really should be)… probably because out of all the Sonic characters, he was the one that the majority found to be the most flawless… but without flaws, characters would my be interesting or identifiable.
Check out Spectacular Spider-Man. She played Gwen Stacey.
Characters In-Depth I just saw it. She actually delivered as Gwen Stacy. And if I remember correctly, she was also the voice of Eliza Thornberry, from The Wild Thornberrys.
@@SuperSonicWarrior93 Wild Thornberrys was my introduction to her.
Isn't she the original voice of Meg Griffin?
Foxcutter Yup. She was.
1 word BEASTIALITY
@@kikio7313 eh nope
Zoophilia is a paraphilia involving a sexual fixation on non-human animals. Bestiality is cross-species sexual activity between human and non-human animals. The terms are often used interchangeably, but some researchers make a distinction between the attraction (zoophilia) and the act (bestiality).

To me, Cream is the Waluigi of Sonic. They’re criminally underused and deserve their time in the spotlight.
Tbh I don't really hate any sonic characters that much.

Let Sonic be 'dead' longer, give the other characters more time to shine. And flesh out the avatars character arc.
Because he does have one, and a fairly likable and relatable one.
The game just needed to be longer, and the writing fleshed out, most of the games problems came from how short it was.

Tails is.
Lol it's so fitting how "cheese" the Chao let's you "cheese" in the advance games
How the fudge can you hate cream and charmy they are the purest in the world
I never understood the Big thing; every group needs a big fat dude in it!
Plus, FROGGY ROCKS!!!
Big is back in frontiers as a fishing minigame that’s actually pretty fun
Charmy will always be one of my favorite Sonic characters. He’s a young hyperactive kid who loves adventure. Plus the Chaotix team would be empty without him around.
Agreed.
My thoughts on all these characters:
-Chaotix - Not so bad, but I do wish they could do more stuff.
Honorable mentions (IMO):
-Marine
-Cosmo
-Chris Thorndyke
-Helen
The list could go on and on. There are many characters that are either amazing or underrated.
People hate Cosmo and Helen???
Team Chaotix are really amazing and underrated characters. It’s a shame that Sega destroyed them and separated them nowdays. They deserve justice!

Honestly, elise would've had much more fans if her relationship with sonic and some of her actions were different. Try giving her a shadow/Maria kind of relationship with Sonic (REALLY good friends who care a lot about each other) for example.

And in IDW, he became the first game character to be turned into a zombot
How the freak did Elise not cry for ten years?
Emotional withdrawal from being conditioned into seeing it as a weakness by her father.
My sisters favorite sonic character is Omochao.
Also I think if Elises character was written better, people might've liked her better.
It’s extremely rare to find people that consider Omochao their favorite character.
@@missbubblebee3329 She thinks he's cute. 😂
Her character was written well.
Just gonna give my thoughts on each character but before that, I have a theory as to why the Sonic cast is so vahemiatly hated by the general gaming community even though they don't deserve it.
Sonic Heroes
I'm not talking the amount of playable characters nor the fact you need to play 4 times to unlock true ending.
I admit I did have a Sonic OC long ago (A Tasmanian Tiger btw, my sister came up with that idea), so I am a bit partial to this guy
Big-He's okay. I don't like fishing for B and A ranks but he just seems like a stupid guy just for the sake of being a stupid guy. He shines best as cameos. I'd like to see him more as an idiot facade
Elise-Wow, I am shocked you had the gal to defend this girl as she was one of the main reasons Sonic 06 was hated. It really is the Damsel in distress shtick that makes me dislike her. The writers are capable of writing a good Damsel in distress with Amy but here it just feels like a thing associated with her, being captured 5 times.
Although I will say I do like the idea of her, so I can see where you're coming from.
3:24 So basically, we hated ourselves in Sonic Forces🤣🤣🤣.
Huh I never knew people hated Chip 🤔. I honestly wish he didn't have to bail at the end of Unleashed. Just become a permanent tag along for Sonic
Chip was in a few 'worst sonic characters' countdowns. I think it's best that he returned to sleep in the Earth, being a deity and all.
I'm from the future and we recovered Big the Chad. :D
I'll never truly understand why so many fans hate Elise, but I'm glad you defended her
Love these videos... and now I wait for the inevitable reversal to pop up in my recommendations where you lambast the series for never being good. As a Sonic fan, I've learned to expect this sort of thing. Lord, this is a miserable franchise to have the misfortune of falling in love with >.>
I don't see myself turning on Sonic. I experienced both Sonic 06 and Rise of Lyric and not once did I think "this always sucked".
@@charactersin-depth3472 Hm, well, I look forward to perusing your other Sonic videos when I've got the time... They've been a treat so far!
I agree with literally all of this! Thank you for defending these characters
How can you hate cream? She is the perfect little sister character that you just have to protect
12 seconds in and I see Tails on “10 worst game protagonists” who hates Tails? Why do they hate Tails? Tails has been one of my favorite characters for along time, and not just sonic characters
You can thank recent Sonic games for that.
I think it was most likely how awful his character was in lost world and forces
Can you make a video for Rouge's character?
Yeah Big is not bad character, or the worst, but he kinda scares me. Like when I played Heroes his voice was so creepy to me, and his never changing expression, it gives me creeps too. While he was nice and kinda "tank" of the team, I never played as him just because he scared me so much ;-;
Either way I totally agree with your analise of this characters.
I actually love Big the Cat. He's so cute.
Sus.
People who hate Cream have no heart I don’t know how anybody could hate her she is such a pure, innocent, and adorable little bunny girl. Cream does not deserve the hate she gets whatsoever.
I agree with this. I just wish she could have her time in the spotlight again (even the comics respect her more).
@@kieranstark7213 I’ve seen you before.
Charmy finally got his justice
Yeah, it’s about time someone defends him.
jerrymiirules2 The Chaotix have so much wasted potential.
:^
I will be hated for this but honestly I love all of the Sonic characters from all eras, yes even the Meta Era. I'm not joking, I love all of them.
No one should be hated for liking them. It's perfectly fine to enjoy these games and the characters in each era.
i always had a theory that sonic fans hate Elise because they are jealous of her.
This most especially applies to Chris Thorndyke from Sonic X.
agree with this lightning round:
i never got the hate with cream either(kinda think it may be from sonic x as it does get sweet that it becomes a bit grating.) as i loved her in advance 2(actually reminded me of flonne from disgaea at points as it played it around the time i got introduced to advance/love to see art of the 2 as i find it extremely funny cream's recent voice is also etna.:3) and her relationship with blaze that was alongside the music to me the best part of rush.
i hate bees but love charmy(the chaotix in general who were the most untouched by bad writing in the dark age other than a few memes.) as he was pretty funny and only got about as understandably annoyed as i would with a real kid his age(and with how moronic the other characters were in the dark age.... yeah not really a huge focal point of scorn to me.).
chip is probably my favorite travelling partner/new character before sage(honestly love both their stories more than shadow.) as i loved his relationship with sonic(especially those cute shorts & the end that i'd legit love to see him return as he really showed sonic's character so well.) with my only problem being tails being sidelined not even being in the shorts and the archie comics forgetting his relationship with how much a mess the unleashed arc/worlds unite was.
huh, didn't know about that pun neat.. but while i thought he was weird being a robotic chao/felt like an odd replacement for tikal but actually was fond of him in sa2 especially how you can mess with him & straight up give him amnesia.
think the avatar could've worked if it didn't feel forced into a story that the other friends could've handled by themselves instead of being their most incompetent(having them be a 3rd story showing them defending earth while sonic's captured/cut classic out.) and should come back as a multiplayer feature as the 3d games need another try at sa2 style multiplayer .
i never had a problem with big's fishing outside the story relevance(which tbf the same could be said for gamma of being tikal being a bit desperate/knuckles who had about as much plot relevance as big in sa2 outside the end.) as it was pretty easy(and love big's theme.) and love him in the cameos(like in sa2 it was alongside the gamma enemies and tikal's multiplayer a nice way of having the main cast of adventure 1 appear/shahra accidentally bringing him to the arabian nights, also like to think alongside black knight amy invited big to her house with sonic and got sucked in when sonic left.) as well as heroes being friends with cream and amy that i wish we saw more of.
love her recent appearance with silver as if you take her getting kidnapped 5 times, nearly letting things be destroyed instead of forgetting sonic and the really pretentious dark age moments/disgusting relationship with sonic she's an okay character that i wouldn't mind returning.
I dont think there's ever been a character i ever hated or didnt like

We're just not going to talk about what Elise did for Blaze? Okay then.
3:18 I love how he said "loooool" like that. 😂

Yes! Finally! Someone else who doesn't hate these characters. I personally have always liked these characters since the begining. It's good to know I am no longer alone
Charmy is one of favourite character
I dare ya!
What the hell did I just read.

Exactly.
Cream is kind and young I don't understand why people hate her.
Charmy is kinda annoying but I love his free spirit attitude like sonic
Chip/light gaia is kind too. He's important in sonic unleashed.
Omochao I kinda hate omochoa at the past but I changed my mind.
Avatar is just us in sonic forces
Big is cool but doesn't show much in sonic games besides fishing is fun even though I never experienced that.
Elise is polite and sweet and brought sonic back to life but I don't like the kiss.
i don't see what's annoying about omochao
Elise is just bland or interesting enough for us like her
I think Cream must be protected at all costs
Seriously, is this "Sonic's stupid friends" crap ever going to end? I still to this day see content creators and critics (who clearly have no idea what they're talking about) jumping on this hate bandwagon and making all the same unoriginal, unfunny jokes we've heard a million times before. At this point you people are just beating a dead horse!
People keep going on about how Sega should scrap these characters and just have Sonic because "They're annoying! They're pointless! They're irrelevant!" Every time I hear this shit I'm constantly thinking "BUT THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE!"
I'm not going to act like the Sonic characters are anything Oscar worthy, but with the right team of writers who care about this series and it's world and want to bring it to life, then we CAN get something worthwhile!

It makes me sad that some people hate him to the point that they refuse to give him a chance flesh out his character.
CHARMY.DESERVES.JUSTICE
it almost seems like the most hated sonic characters aren't actually hated for their character at all, they're just a convenient target that people redirect all their frustrations with the series/particular game. people hate big the cat because in their minds he stands for everything they hate about sonic adventure, they hate elise because they hate sonic '06 not because of her personality, omochao is hated because the mechanics were handled a bit poorly and even touching it would begin an uncancellable drawn out hint for very basic gameplay tips, people hate the avatar because forces sucked. these frustrations make sense but there isn't any reason to hate these characters because of it. that said I have no clue at all why anyone would hate cream
No this dude thinks their good characters just for being nice. We need substance.
I thought I was the only one who liked Charmy Bee, what a pleasant surprise
Well, I also happen to be a fan of Charmy Bee. He’s really cute imo.
Agreed.
