They better stay away from China then. China's government loathes religion and persecutes religious groups there. They started with Buddhist monks and would happily destroy that tradition. China may (or may have) made offers to assist with development and once excepted - a nation is enslaved to the CCP - a bloodthirsty polity.

Its natural for a citizen to say that his country is best. But let me say with honest view, Bhutan is enjoying unprecedented peace and prosperity under our monarch and government. Bhutan offers free education and free health care, we don't have to pay a penny. Bhutan has more than 70 percent forest and its enshrined in our Constitution that we maintain 60 percent for all time to come. Our great 4th King , gave his power to the people by transitioning towards democracy even though all the people objected. His majesty the 4th king even included a clause in the constitution saying that we can even impeach even the King. Currently we are Constitutional democratic monarchy. If any people in Bhutan is facing problems like homeless , His majesty grants land and property to the homeless people and yep there is no begger or homeless people. When pandemic came to Bhutan, Our 5th king was the frontliner who travelled all over the country to check the status. Currently we have zero death rate , all thanks to Govt and His majesty. We recently celebrated 113th National day with pride 🇧🇹

I think the dams are a good thing. They will cause some disruption in the tourism based rafting industry, but the good far outweighs the negatives in my opinion. It appears that they are using continuous flow dams instead of traditional reservoir dams, so the environmental impact will be far far less.
While these dams will be more susceptible to outages caused by shrinking river systems, they do not require the displacement of people and animals. They don't require flooding thousands of acres of fertile buildable land, and they do not pose the risk of bursting. Yes, the water-flow is diverted for construction, but it can easily be returned if the dam is designed to only use a portion of the volume. All those benefits and they still provide some protection against seasonal flooding due to the improved overall capacity in those areas of the river.
The only downside I can see is once the water coming from the glaciers starts to dwindle, it will leave the country with little to fall back on. That doesn't mean they shouldn't do it though, because the glaciers are going to keep shrinking regardless and perhaps the power they export will reduce their neighbors' reliance on dirty power generation. Perhaps they can contribute to stemming the tide.
As a United States citizen, it saddens me that so much of the world thinks we are all closed-minded. Our media industry has failed us.

honestly i think *minimizing* imports (which results in trash), and exports (which increases wealth which is only good for increasing imports which you really don't need for real wealth) is the answer both to staying independent and retaining cultural momentum, and to help the environment.
the most important thing in life is gardens.

The difference between all of us and bhutan is that we have made our lives so complicated. We appeard on this earth as part of nature and now we have left the nature. But when we get stress when we need fresh air we try to reach the nature again. But what bhutan is doing is they live inside nature. Some Media s just go to a place and interview few people who are unhappy and creating a stereotyping for the whole place. But truth is Bhutan people are so happy. Every bhutanese person that i met in my life is so happy about wat they have. Yes problems are their because human desire is different. USA is number 2 CO2 polluter. It makes only sense to compare numbers per capita, then USA produces double the amount of Chinese and 8 times the amount of Indians.

Amazing place with beautiful people and nature. Thank you very much for sharing. Truly enjoyed it and added to my bucket list for a visit. I truly feel the neighboring countries China and India must stop polluting their own environment and neighboring countries like Bhutan.

As a small land locked country dont we even have a right to harness our own environment in friendly manner. I wanna know the true intension behind this video? Is it trying to blame the entire world for the global warming or trying to blame the few dams of bhutan for the cause of it. Need some clarification.

It's pretty clear what's their intention is.
      They have a hidden agenda.
I noticed it from the very beginning of this video when he said that China and India are one of the biggest producer of carbon footprint in the world.
But what he didn't show is that US and many western nations tops the same list when it comes to Carbon emission per Capita.
      Love from India.❤❤❤

Namgay Tshering so true, this doku tries to traduce the most sustainable Country in the world, just because of some dams, while many other Countrys are doing nothing for the enviroment compared to Bhutan!
