  • The focus of the panel is for the panelists to share from their perspective/experience what it is like to be a female working in the tech industry(including a bit about their backgrounds, journey to current roles, successes, failures, lessons learned), to help break down any myths about being in this industry, and provide advice on how to get into this industry.
Katie Kelly: I’m Katie Kelly and I am the Director of Technology at Eight Bit Studios in Chicago. I’ve worked in the technology space for a little over 20 years working on everything from writing programs that send faxes (yes, really), to desktop development, to the web, and mobile. I took some programming classes during my college days studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the mid-90s (gasp!), but it wasn’t until my first job as a chemical engineer that I realized that I could make a career out of writing code and have a ton of fun doing it. I also enjoy the outdoors, running, reading, and spending time with my husband and two kids.
