    I hope it's something simple. I really like that blazer.

    Bummer! If you decide to rebuild it, I'd love to see a video on it.

    That's what I like about manual transmissions, in my eyes much easier to work on. Not that I have much experience or know what I'm talking about at all, but I'd like to think I could feel my way through a repair. Quality time with dad!

    Either worn synchro detents or sometimes the end play on the shaft is too much. Generally end play can get you in more than one gear.

    if my memory serves me right i believe you may need to replace the detente balls if there worn it will jump out of gear being many years since i did transmission stuff i could be wrong

    Sorry to hear you are having a problem brother I'm not a transmission rebuilder by far but like you when you have s problem you try to fix it my opinion bro the shift fork is usually bad because of something else bad gear bad bearings bad clips or one to many 3rd gear misses may be time for a rebuild 😢

      No problem , part of having old stuff and the cool thing a , I can fix it if it was an automatic tranny I would have to pay someone else

      +1Wild CamaroSS I'm hopeful , because I noticed that the fork rod for 3/4 slid around freely and 1/2 didn't but I didn't put 2and2 together , and when I removed the rod the balls didn't pop up they stayed put

    Oh man that does suck I was so hoping it would be the issue for you. Well maybe it won't be so hard to fix..No doubt it is some wearing of parts just finding them maybe a bit tricky.

    Is there detent balls and springs on the selector linkage on that gearbox? I had this before and it was a broken Spring. They very small and in the top of the gearbox.

    • @MrFireman164
      @MrFireman164  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know what I think you may have the answer , I noticed when the cover was off that 3/4 fork shaft slid back and forth in the case but 1/2 did not , yes it has detent balls and that makes perfect sense , that's what I will replace next , that's a bunch !

    nice try . but normaly its something else that wears the shift forks . endfloat or a worn thrust bush/bearing allows too much movement . go check out gearboxvideo , good info and helped me do a job on a 69 monaro . love charlie brown even still and im over the hill now lol
