It has been 42 years and a school bus, the last time I took one off to repair. My son jumped the gun, got reverse too far forward and the spring loaded pin locked out. No, I can't move back reverse by having two bars or screwdrivers in a the same time. My truck, but wants the engine. Now what? ASE Master, 78. Retired due to lumbar pain and not from cars! Great video on a 55yr old problem!
I watched about 4 to 5 vids and they didnt explain a damn thing. Your video hit the nail right on the head brother. I watched this just one time, went out and the lid popped right back on my tranny. Thank you,
Not a videographer and not a mechanic but what you are my friend is a mother effing saint and I love you for this I spent hours on this your video is just a god send
Hi. Thank you so much for your video. I have an issue I'm trying to sort. So I have the rebuild complete and cover back on. I can shift through all the gears. When I go to put into neutral and release the clutch, it wants to reverse all the time, can you possibly help me
Good Morning Barry As I said in my video “am not a mechanic”. You say you did a rebuild? From my perspective I would imagine the reverse fork is not aligned on the reverse gear correctly. I would pop the top, set it up and drop the cover again. Then I would test it my running through the gears and spinning the shaft. If the reverse gear is moving around, you could try keeping it in place with a goob of grease then drop the cover. The only other thing I can suggest is to be sure the shift lever is going in correctly. Good luck

Good job
Just finished rebuilding mine and I can’t get it to spin free when trying to find neutral? Any idea what might be wrong?
I did the top cover gasket but now in 1st theres a little chatter bumping the engine and with driveline in it bumps in reverse when i start it
No gasket?

did you ever find the issue?
Do you have a video on removing/installing transfer case adapter? Thanks
We're is the video on the top cover rebuild assembly?
You might want to look up sm465 top fork assembly removal.
Hope it helps.
