Never "Jam" test leads into terminal connectors, you WILL permanently damage the terminals. Use a back probe/ T- pin carefully and conduct your checks there. That being said thank you for the HEI pick up coil procedure.
Did that all my life and never had a problem with the terminals. Depends on how radical you shove it and twist it in there. Put it in on the back side of the connector that is all flat and no damage at all. Some people have no common sense on damaging things. :-)
A pickup is 275 ohms, the reading hot engine warmed up skips @ hot 265, ohms ok run bad, @ cold start ohms 225, runs fine. Seems odd to me that them numbers would be the other way around right? Bought new CDI first, installed” and ran the same way. So ya, now check this pickup after installation of CDI and this is what the readings are now going to change the pickup. Ugh… but a little strange to me. Anybody know to explain that?
Thanks. Found out i had a bad pick up wire. It ran fine a minut then only on 2 cylinders and then 4 agian so now its fixed thought i had a bad cdi. But the wire had a short where it goes into the pickup.
I changed all electrical parts , dissconnected all non ignition wires but no spark , its a 150cc Chinese Skygo. The magneto housing got engine oil in , the flywheel does not seem to have any magnet power when i put a screwdriver nearby..
well the only magnetivity yur gonna find is the magnet itself right? doesnt the magnet which is embedded in the flywheel just revolve continuously, passing in front of a mag pickup creating a spark?

Ruined a harness on a Pontiac Grand Prix doing that. Now if they don't want to go in I don't force them.
