I got my first Spyderco at Walmart. I was there with my Grandma who always gave me money when we went to to shopping (even tho I was in my late 20s). And when I saw that Tenacious, I had laser beam focus on it and picked it from all the other cool cheaper flipper knives. I had always wanted a Spyderco and that was my chance, so I took it.
My grandma sold me my first car. It was a lemon also. Taught me the value of a dollar

JUST FOUND THESE PACKS FOR $10 ON CLEARANCE AT WALMART! BOUGHT 5 PACKS! You are right that neck knife is really awesome!
These, (other than the neck knives), go in my SHTF "beater, barter, and buddies" bag of blades with the other Walmart fixed blades I got on clearance last time they had a 3 pack. Got about 15 packs at that time and also for $10! These are much better than you would think and are great for barter items or to cheaply equip a crew of neighbors as an ad hoc mutual defense / prepper group in SHTF. I did some videos about the first set on my admittedly "hamfisted" channel. Thanks for sharing about these!
My first Walmart knife(s) was when I was 14 for Christmas, gotta nice bigger SAK and a Leatherman micra. Still have both and still fantastic!

I have a super strong rare esrth magnet that I use on mine and it works through everything I've come across so far. The X-ray was pretty cool. Be nice to be able to put all fixed blades to that test.

I got two sets of those in store because I like the little one reminded me of the Mora Eldris but this is an awesome video never knew the middle one was full tang but the cutting edge for the middle one and large one is basically the same. Great Video.

The actual product description on the Walmart website states that medium sized knife is full tang. After seeing your first video on these knives I looked them up. At least the xray confirms it because you can never be too sure when it isn't an exposed full tang.

If the tang is tapered, it will also reduce the attraction, and, since the attraction drops with the square of the distance, the slight "swell" of the palm area of a knife handle might cause an early "drop-out"

If you read the online description the middle knife is described as full tang.
Use a compass, kinda works like a gauss gage and the benefit is you don't magnetize any part of the knife further.

I'm with you on the cutoff call/text time. I wake up between 430 and 5 every day. If someone calls or texts me after 9, Im calling them at 5 just to get them back lol
On texting/calling it depends on when someone works for me. I used to have to go in at 2 AM. When I had a migraine that meant texting my boss at midnight sometimes. Friends/family knew I slept from around 11 AM to 8 PM and wouldn't answer until the next morning.

I live in a fairly small city in Canada. About 100k people. And i have 3 Wal-Mart super stores within 15 mins of each other. Used to be 4 but 1 closed down lol. Apparently Canada loves Wal-Mart 😐
There is a knife on Amazon by a brand called Dispatch that is the exact same knife as the full tang Ozark Trail one you gave away. There is a TH-camr Doug Shoe Bushcraft who did a review on it.
Our local Walmart in St Petersburg Florida is the one that I go to sell out almost overnight on all these under $5 knives. so if you're not there when they bring them out odds are you going to do without.

You could save yourself the drive and just check if it's in stock at the store on the website. I do this with things when it's an hour or more away so I don't drive there for nothing.
Sometimes that works. But lots of times if it says in stock online, it's in a box in the warehouse and they won't get it for you

It’s their house brand for camping/outdoor gear. In many cases the quality is indistinguishable from the name brands.

it be a cool test to do a blind test with$20 knifes versus $200 knives, bet most people couldn't tell
just remember most of the time the only differences besides designs is the materials and fit and finish...a better steel will literally work better and for longer but everyones needs are different so some people would be more than happy with the $20 knife whereas others may really need that $200 knife to perform for them...
Texting my boss depends on how nice he is to me at work as if he isnt nice then perhaps i barrow a friends old cell phone to use to text the crap out of my boss at all times of the night for shits and giggles haha.

We've been led to believe that an x-ray image like this costs several hundred dollars. Certainly not 2 minutes worth of electricity. Jokes aside, thanks for doing this Dennis!
I work at the airport in security. The xray images can be taken all day for the cost of the electricity and the minor wear on the machine. Granted they have more specialized and directive equipment. I believe at the doctors office, you are paying for the expertise of the technician and doctor evaluating the image and of course amortization of the initial cost of the machine. But, even with all of that considered, we are definitely being overcharged for these albeit important services. Health care needs revamped it seems. A thanks to the fellow who cleared up this dilemma with the X-ray image. Although I have access to dozens of X-ray machines, use of them in this casual manner is not an option for me.
When you buy an x-ray, the costs go WAY beyond the cost of electricity! How about overhead (hospitals are expensive, and so are x-ray machines), and staff. When they sell something, like an X-ray, they have to try to recover those costs, as much as possible (actually, ultimately, in their entirety), as well as the cost of electricity!
Full tang is worse than partial tang. It's just adding a ton of extra, needless weight to carry around that offers zero extra strength in practicality.
What really matters is how wide the tang is where it meets the handle, and if it goes in halfway deep. These knives are just as strong as "full tang" knives while being easier to manuever and having better balance, generally.
The hardest knife to break in the world isn't even full tang, it's 3/4 tang which is my preference.
In MOST cases it wont matter people dont use their knives hard enough for them to break BUT the guys who do use full tang for a reason and a thin full tang knife is WAY better than a wide partial tang...
@@cutlerylover not really. with a rat tang well of course, but there is nothing a nicely wide tang that isn't full but sufficiently long won't stand up against. That includes batoning, whether it's through wood or through concrete. The best example is probably a hultafors gk heavy duty. 15 dollars, 3/4 tang, yet quite likely the hardest to break knife in the world.
I've taken much weaker moraknivs and beaten them with the intent to break them and they've held up somehow.
Full tang sucks, even for a survivalist situation there's no practicality to owning one. I'd rather carry a 2-6 ounce knife than a 9-16 ounce knife too, which will tire you out in extended scenarios (the only reason i can think to need such a hard knife).
When you have the proper skillset anyway there's no need to beat on any knife to begin with, even if it's fun.
But what's the steel?
Anything basic 420 stainless or just stainless is basically junk.
My Walmart had the access but didn't have the Cold Steel twin pack.

I’ve been following you for what has to be close to if not a decade and I just have to say this. Sometimes you can be more concise. Like the explanation of a tang is useful if not a little long but 4:20 no one that would even understand what you’re showing would need you to demonstrate that the magnet will stick to the blade
Okay I did mine the easy way. I cut the damn handle off. It is only a 5.00 chinese garbage knife that I would never bet my life on.

There is something wrong here. I bought the 3 knife set for fifteen bucks too. Got them about five months ago. All three of mine have lanyard holes. Only one of your two do. A magnet sticks all the way down all three of mine. All three of mine are also the same general length.
I've just noticed that the sheaths are different too. The belt loops are solid and go up about 2/3 of the way to the bottom of the tang. I think we may have completely different knifes.

Not bad for Chinese stainless funny thing is we send them blades they send us finished knives. It's not really good quality but neither is our cheap stuff. If you ask me converted old knives are best. Get a yard sale kitchen knife for a buck that's 50 years old or older. Such quality. Can't get steel that cheap anywhere. It's 4140 for almost all quality knives anymore. It's still not great but dependable. Way to go china? I hate Wal Mart. I never buy that stuff. It works though.

Followed you for years M8, Brit X soldier handled lots of knives, for an excellent cheap knife the Mora is hard to beat. In saying that, if you want something special, do not go for cheap knives. Love your scatty channel M8.

I give away knives all the time...I got the set because I was only interested in the small one, I gave one away to my friend I didnt care if it was full tang or not now that I know Im not buying another set thats how much I dont care about it, BUT I do care about my viewers thats why I wanted to tell everyone who may be interested or wanted to know :) I still would have given it away if I knew 1st...
