    Actually it does have a blade storage but you can only fit one blade. Flip open the blade and look closely inside on the right side of the handle. Also check out the packaging, it says it on the back!

    Can confirm. My absolute favorite edc I’ve had. I do residential remodeling and it’s so insanely handy to have the screwdriver in the end. Full disclosure I abuse it and use it like a prybar and it holds up! I love the latch to keep the driver open.

    I work in a Home Depot. I purchased this exact one he’s talking about before hand though. Anyways started carrying it day to day and it blew me away how many times I noticed it coming in handy. The screw driver saved my but a few times loading doors outside in the lot. Always being the first one with my knife out ready cut whatever the customer needs cut. It’s definitely my favorite spur of the moment just needed a knife and happened to get something really amazing in the end.

    You can store 1 Extra blade in the handle section. Look for a little razor blade icon and opposite of that icon is space for 1 blade to lock into the body close to the side.

    I've had one of these for years, I love it. I would never strip wire with it but I like the string cutter that you can use when it's closed. Would trade that screwdriver for a removable magnet level for pipe bending.

    Because of this video, I am now a sub. I bought my first Milwaukee product that was a heated coat about 4 years ago now. Minus the wires breaking in the coat a few months ago, the product is amazing. I got my first big boy tools and they were Milwaukee. Just an impact with some extra batteries that can be used in my heated coat and vise versa. I have tons basic hand tools and they’re good, I’m not hard on my tools and you’d think the hand tools were brand new, even though they are over a decade old now. As the years go on I find myself looking at Milwaukee products more and more. They can be used during a blackout for lighting etc. Next year I hope to use them while camping. Thanks for the videos.

    • @leeroyclarkson
      @leeroyclarkson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should look at their safety fastback. The blade automatically retracts when you aren’t squeezing out. It was my favorite when I was a box cutter.

  • @gamesforyoutwo

    I love the 6-1 fastback. In the painting trade it is great for point up/masking phases. Being able to cut out protruding drywall, screw in "nail pops", unscrew cover plates, and cut plastic with one tool is great. I normally carried a utility knife and a screwdriver, it was very bulky and loud in my side pocket.

  • @zooyorkk
    @zooyorkk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I like the mini fastback. Its more pocket friendly at work where I cut straps, cardboard, tape, and plastic wrap. For me the large fastbacks strap cutter notch catches on surfaces sometimes when I'm cutting. I would also love to see different color options for the fastback. It really is the best utility knife I've come across.

    As a jack-of-all-trades type carpenter I really love the 5-blade storage of the current gen. 3 regular blades and 2 hook blades for roofing and I'm set for a build!
    As an edc off-site though this new generation will be fantastic. Slice a box, fix a kid's toy, open my laptop, strip a wire, adjust my bike, crack a beer. Amazing, way to go Big Red.

    Carry one daily for work and love it. Make sure to check the torx screws that hold it together. Mine came loose and the driver fell off. Luckily I found the screw and bushings(which are copper not cheap plastic!) and got it back together. Actually took all the screws out and hit them with some blue loctite. So worth $20!

    I agree that this is possibly the most useful knife I've ever owned for daily real-world use. I don't think you can really compare it to a traditional multi-tool, but I don't need all the bells and whistles on a traditional multi-tool on a daily basis, either. This one checks all the important boxes. Sharp. Easy to "re-sharpen." Onboard storage for a spare blade (with two edges, to boot). Very safe. Phillips #2 driver. Slotted driver. Ability to use other driver bits. Strong. Secure lock. Good and very durable clip. Comfortable/good ergos. And great pricing. Everyone should own a few of these. 👍

    The BIGGEST thing I am sad to see they got rid of from the older version is the option to lock the blade at a 45 degree angle. It gave you so much leverage and comfort by not having to torque your wrist downward so far on hard cuts. The day mine finally wears out will be a sad day. Excellent review though!

    I got my first Fastback for my birthday over a year ago from my kids. The oldest of my 4 boys was 12 and the youngest was 8. They went with their mom (my lovely wife) to get me a utility knife because they knew I used mine a lot. I did not even know the Fastback existed, but my boys had a whole list of criteria they were looking for. They looked at a whole bunch of utility knives and settled on the Fastback. I raised them well. I now know what I want for my next birthday.

    Just got one as a gift from my step dad. I have $300+ knives which run from beater work tool steel knives to high grade steel limited run knives and to be honest this has came in more handy than any multi-tool I have owned. It's great! Plus anytime my edge dulls out I just swap the blade and we're back in action. Ergonomics are fantastic. I don't usually like utility knives. But this has everything I need. Lock up on the screw driver liner lock as well as the utility knife lockup is nice and tight. And it DOES have storage for a blade near the liner of the utility lock up..

      Are you doing something for maintenance? After about 2 years of heavy use (warehouse work) my fastback has worn a "catch" on the bar thing that lets it open and close so it doesn't like to close unless you really mash on the button, and then to add insult to injury it sometimes opens slightly unintentionally on my pocket meaning I reach for a partially open knife. My coworkers all prefer slide out utility knives and most of them are 5+ years old, but I like the fastback for being outside my pocket rather than inside. On the shelf we switched to these new models a few months ago and by all means they just look like the same knife made out of plastic instead of metal, I don't really believe their longevity can possibly be better and I assume this guy has a sponsorship from milwaukee.

    I have a fastback hawkbill knife. Several utility knives of all sorts. The one i carry is a lock back but its chrome and wood handled and very comfortable to hold and carry in my watch pocket. I've noticed some of the Milwaukee utility knives are longer and hang out of my watch pocket which is no good, as its more likely to get hooked on something and slip out.

    I carry an older one, and I use it a lot just for opening packages and flattening boxes for recycle. I always like the idea of blade storage, but the fact is you have two blades on board when you head out, and if you make sure it's a new one (buy them by the hundreds), you rarely dull two blades in a day unless you know you're headed out to dull blades, in which case you'll bring the replacement blades anyway. I won't miss the storage. I have one with storage, and one without, and I replace the blades when I'm in the garage and I get them out of the dispenser on the wall anyway.
    I just tried to find a new one on amazon and couldn't. I'll check out your link below. Thanks.

    This is hands down the best utility knife I've ever owned. With all of the upgrades (which are very cool), that extra blade storage, for me, is key. There's nothing worse than having to hunt around, or go back to the box, and get another blade. I hope that Milwaukee finds a way to add it back to this new, and very cool, utility knife! Great video, man!👊😎

    i have the og Milwaukee fast back no blade storage super thin. I'm an electrician use it every day and have been using it for years cant remember but i would gues 5. it hasn't quit working still smooth only thing that has gone wrong is the clip is mangled a bit. i have used countless brands before i spent a little extra on it thinking a box cutter is a box cutter but these knives are the best hands down.

    I have their old one but I have that problem where the wire belt clip would catch on things a lot and just bend so I wouldn't stay on pocket anymore. I now have the new style which is pretty much but I got the one late storage. Love it. Fixed all of the minor issues with the original version but how it's just perfect. I can think of no complaints about it.

    I'm a contractor and I've had the older Fastback for years and it's been my EDC (Every Day Carry) for as long as I've had it. Until I saw this video. I immediately started looking for it and had to buy it from Home Depot online because it sold out at all my local stores. Initially, I didn't like it because the spring clip was too tight for my jeans pocket. Then I widened the gap up a bit with a small pry bar and it's perfect. The knife opens far more easily than the older models, even though I never had problems with those. I do like the extra single blade storage. I've even used the screwdriver once; it's handy, but would be handier if regular 1"wire detent bits would lock in place; as it is now, you can still use them, but they bottom out and the 1/4" nut driver may get in the way if you're in a tight spot. However, the slotted and Phillips tips are what most people need most of the time, so it's not a major issue and those DO lock in place well with a wire detent on either side of the 1-1/4" bit. I've not used the bottle opener since I usually drink my snobby craft beer in cans; since it's always in my pocket I also don't use the lanyard attachment. I didn't think the older model needed any improvement, but this is my new EDC. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

    I have the original from years ago also. It's a beast and still works. More recently I replaced my $150 Spyderco Sage 5 with the $8 compact version for EDC and haven't looked back. My only wish would be a silver pocket clip, because the black looks beat up pretty quickly.

      Dude, I was at a job site un packing furniture from boxes, a few years ago...I didn't have a utility cutter. One of the foremen lent me his. Yeah, it was the Milwaukee Fastback! I was so impressed by that cutter. I kept myself busy, was always running around(keeping things in order, and being on top of anything that came up...). At the end of the day, I was sure to return that tool to the foreman... I went to him directly and handed it to him. He noticed how much I really liked it that he handed it back to me and said that I could have it! Man! Yeah! I was super jazzed! I have had that cutter on my side for a few years. I showed it off to everyone that I met... Then, last year, I was on a jobsite and im saw a young kid starting off in the trades... He was a good worker. On the last day, I walked up to him and gave him the Milwaukee Fastback. For the next few weeks, I sorely missed that knife. I'd curse and grimace everytime I had to unfold my other "lockblade utility cutter". No big deal, I purchased a new one.

    Lets just put it this way. I went into Home Depot looking for a Utility Knife. I'm a DeWalt fan so I went right over and checked out DeWalt. Then like any smart shopper, checked out the other brands. After comparing them all and checking out the price, Milwaukee was the clear winner. I bought the twin pack and I will buy another when the wife is checking out something else on our next visit.
