    This bike is a recent rescue. This bike was purchased from the second owner and has 6k original miles. It only ran on choke when I bought it, the rotors were warped, the brake lines were shot, and once cleaned, the carburetors needed some fine-tuning to eliminate a lean surge from the stock jetting. The time spent on the carburetor tuning and installing new EBC brake rotors and pads with Spiegler brake lines really paid off!

    Very nice...! I just picked up the exact same model and color. Any tips with regards to the carb tuning?

      My CB had the stock jetting but ran lean and stumbled at 30-45 mph. I used two small shims under the needles. I also turned my air/fuel screws out 3 turns. It runs great now with no hesitation. Depending on where you live and the bike setup (intake, exhaust, current jetting) you may need a different tune.

      Hi Edgardo, the original exhaust is more and more difficult to find. You can look on ebay or at swap meets. Maybe try some CB900C/CB1000C forums or Facebook groups as well. There is a guy in Leesport PA who may have the exhaust. His name is Gene 610-468-2922

    Hey brother, I recently bought a 1980 Honda cb 900 custom from a friend of mine, my question is if it's liquid radiator coolant, and where I put it, and how do I do a tuneup? I'm from PA myself, so can you help out a new owner of an old classic?

    • @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Charles, the good news is that there's no coolant. The radiator is an oil cooler. If your oil level is correct then you're good to go. If the bike runs well already, I would change out all the fluids (brakes, rear, transfer case), change the engine and filter, put in a new air filter and spark plugs. This is a basic tune up.

      @Wiley T Great question! I would probably let it go for $8000. There are decent CB900 Customs out there for less but you will need to look pretty hard to find one in this condition with this mileage (and I doubt any will run/drive/stop as well as this one).
