His team under Don were ranked number one in Europe in UEFA rankings for two years and he's still saying they had bags to learn. For what I know Don was one of the first coaches to do full analysis on teams and it must have been an advantage. Bielsa is repeating history taking it to another level

bielsa is 100% committed to football he even has a bed + kitchen at thorpe arch training ground so he can work late and sleep at the ground ready for a early start.
we leeds fans are so happy to get him.

The only thing Bielsa wanted to know from the ‘Spy’ was whether Wilson would be fit to play. That’s all. No big deal.
Is Giles watching Leeds’s games? They suffer far more from other teams fouling them than they foul others! Leeds have hardly any penalties go their way. I’ve got bored hearing Sky saying that they should have had one or two penalties in every single match that they cover. So Leeds seem to be more sinned against than sinning.

What people forget is that Bielsa is from a family of lawyers. Lawyers go to the nth degree in everything to give them an edge in their case and to make sure they're not blindsided. He will have seen this from his father growing up so to go to that degree will just seem like normal behaviour to him. As for Giles comment about been dirty at corners he will be seeing things happening that only professionals will see, to the rest of us it won't seem to be happening.

    • @floundermsu

The game was dirtier/more brutal then on a general level. Yes Leeds played "tough," but they were also loaded with skill.

I mean, really the only real advantage of spying on training is seeing the trick freekick or corner kick plays. Everything else you already know from footage of their previous games, at the end of the day you win by playing better and outscoring the other team.

Giles was a great for us but if tactics offer so little how has bielsa changed a top 13 team into 1st place with basically the same team. two why are the worlds best coaches all students of the game fine margins are the difference between winning or losing in any elite sports and especially team sports ,plus disagree with the corner thing every defence in not just championship hold and impede at set pieces we are no better or worse than anyone else in that respect.

Don Revie had detailed dossiers in his day. I am convinced that Bielsa has a form of Autisum . I got a family member that suffers from it. Bielsa finds it helps him , so good for him. Giles is partly right

Bielsa seems like borderline Obsessive Compulsive...he hints at that himself...can't leave any stone unturned or he gets anxious . Bit like the Don and all his rituals . Look at the results ...a team transformed .
