What are YOUR favorite plant-based Thanksgiving recipes?
Stuffed acorn squash. Baked acorn squash halves, filled with a mixture of chopped kale, chickpeas or blackenelyed peas mashed with crushed fennel seed, craisins, and walnuts.
I like to do kobocha squash stuffed with wid rice, craisins and veggie sausage.
Really enjoyed your husband's health commentary. Hope you'll do more of that on future videos.
We had Tofurky ham (which tastes exactly like regular ham btw and is amazing), vegan pumpkin pie, stuffing, corn, green beans, spiced sweet potatoes. All vegan,
We've learned a lot about vegan cooking & in reality the Beyond Burger & meat subs & plant milks & Just Egg to replace eggs really does A LOT to lower cholesterol, creatine+ other blood work that shows how kidney function is going!! There are huge benefits so keep on
I love the green onions in the mash yum
Try adding dehydrated tomatoes or ketchup to the meatloaf also you can swap the impossible burger "meat" for balck beans boil them blend them and use in lieu of that meat mixture.
Looks like an amazing dinner! I am not vegan, but would love that meal.
"Meatloaf is supposed to be a compressed situation".....that's a great line. Haha. Everything looks delicious. :)
I thought you guys would enjoy Asher’s commentary 😆
Cathy Fischer (straight up food) is the lentil loaf I have been making for years. It even tastes good cold in a sandwich. I add dry mustard and vegan worcestershire
Everything looks great! We do a turkey breast with vegan sides to accommodate everyone. I make the green bean casserole by sauteeing onions and mushrooms in vegan margarine and adding flour and plain almond milk to make the sauce.
My daughter is vegan and I like to make sure she has choices. I make a vegan stuffed pepper with chopped vegetables and tempeh or rice and spices. We also make a vegan Mac & cheese, and vegan thumbprint cookies. Also I make the stuffing muffins vegan. My family enjoys trying her different vegan foods, thanks for sharing. Happy Thanksgiving.
What are some frugal ways you celebrate Christmas?
I'm doing a seitan roast for Thanksgiving dinner.
I make my own cream of mushroom soup by making a cashew cream. It truly is the best cream of mushroom I've ever had. My non plant based family actually requests it for the great bean casserole lol.
Both the seitan roast and cream of mushroom soup sound amazing!! 🤩
that sounds so good!
My daughter loves that mac and cheese and while we are not vegan, she cannot eat dairy so I do often buy things that are vegan for her, she loves to add in the Dayia cheese to her mac and cheese to make it even creamier. There is one product, not sure if you have seen it, but Country Crock makes a plant based heavy whipping cream and it is amazing! I use it in place of anything that would require cream, sour cream, and milk. It has been a game changer for my recipes that I make for her. Thanks for sharing all of your amazing food!
I have not seen the heaving whipping cream yet! It is so cool all the dairy-free/plant-based products they are coming out with. In just the last 5 years, the market has exploded with plant-based alternatives ❤️
@@raisingwildflowers It has been great with all the new products, makes it easier for her to enjoy things that she use to before having to cut out dairy. Definitely look for it, I don't know what stores you have up there, but down here I can find it at Publix and Harris Teeter (Kroger for most people) For those of us who still eat dairy, the plant based cream tastes like real whipping cream, I was really impressed. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season! ❤
There are some good lentil loaf recipes that you may want to try for next time
Yes! We love lentil loaf and that is what we usually make for Thanksgiving (and lots of other times 😋) but we just didn’t have the time/tools to make it this year 😢 It is definitely waaay healthier!
Your dinner looked delicious Katie and Asher.
You did really well with limited resources thanks for the tip about saving some of the cooked water to add to mash going to try . I do cook every day so Christmas I usually buy the main (nut roast or some type of pastry thing )and a dessert just to make it easier and less stress!!!! X😊
That’s awesome!! I have a vegetarian friend and I always feel bad that she only eats the “sides”! I definitely want to try it.
Thanks😊
Hi Katie & Family
Our family will come together tomorrow for a feast of Turkey with mashed & gravy, stuffing , green beans, corn, & pumpkin pie with coffee. . Yum
Happy Thanksgiving!
😋 Sounds delicious!! Especially the pumpkin pie with coffee! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving 🍽
We have a traditional Thanksgiving with all vegan side dishes, but include a turkey as the main course. I don't care for turkey, but my husband loves it and it's just once a year that we get it. I like the combination of fall flavors - stuffing, roasted yams, cranberries - yum! Did you make the cornbread stuffing or was that provided by your friend? We make ours out of Everything bagels. Happy Thanksgiving!
Our friends made the stuffing. She added sage and celery 😋
Its the sides everyone likes anyway. I will do roasted potatoes, Brussel sprouts, broccoli and a salad🌻
😂 That is so true! The sides are always the best!!
Omg! Looks amazing! I really enjoyed this video including the sweet baby sounds in the background 🥰
Thanks for sharing! 💕
Sides are my favorite.
I love making fresh cranberry sauce and an incredibly delicious vegan gravy to pour over the mashed potatoes. 😋
Great video like always I think my favorite recipe would be the mac and cheese and I would like to try the meatloaf too Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Katie
Hi there! What a feast! My son/girlfriend are vegetarian and think I’ll use some of your suggestions. Thank you. Happy holiday season to you and yours🤗
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your beautiful family !! Thank you for the great videos. I really enjoy watching them.
It all looks delicious 😋
That looked so yummy!!!! How was the “meat” loaf?
So happy you’re on the farm for awhile !!😊
Everyone loved it! Especially the non-vegan kiddos who couldn’t believe it wasn’t real meatloaf 😂
Yum! Everything looks delicious. I'm cooking a couple of Tofurkys, along with mashed potatoes and gravy, southern corn pudding, asparagus, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie with So Delicious whipped topping for dessert. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Kate!
Yum!!! Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy! ❤️
XOXOXO@@raisingwildflowers
vegan green bean casserole is definitely my favorite, followed closely by dressing. i'm going for a marie callendar pie this year too, which is kind of sad because i used to be a professional baker 😛laziness + accidentally vegan ftw
😂 Asher usually makes an AMAZING vegan apple pie. But we just didn’t have it in us this year 🙃
Happy Thanksgiving!
I don't eat a lot of meat but when I do I purchase it from a local farm. It's expensive, but I feel it's worth it.
It seems a shame that higher, animal welfare standards run contrary to the abolitionist stance of the V movement.
❤❤
Im vegetarian so I do eat eggs and dairy, but I truely cant eat faux meat products or even look at them to be honest.
I try and avoid processed food, however will eat tofu occasionally.
Your mashed potatoes looked great, but did they taste like Vanilla?
Im Australian so we dont do Thanksgiving. Christmas is our big event. People eat a lot of meat and seafood at Christmas, so I think I would struggle to get my meat eating friends to be happy with a Vegan or Vegetarian Xmas dinner😅
With your vegan meatloaf I would of added flax egg, and ketchup with brown sugar.
Meatloaf needs a binder. We use an egg or two. It will not hold together well without it.
Just don't mention Vegan or Plant Based. People will wolf it down.
Exactly 😂
