I was told before a Joico event to arrive with "dirty" hair. I came with 2 days unwashed, oily hair, because I have an oily scalp and to me this is what "dirty" hair means. But I was humiliated because they were grossed out by my scalp grease, and miffed because it made my hair heavy and harder to style for the show. What they had meant by "dirty" was hair that's full of product. Well I didn't know that, because I hardly used any product, only a tad of hairspray to keep my front section lifted. They gave me a free haircut to try and improve things, but all in all it was a pretty embarrassing day. I think they complained to my agency. : /

I am so sorry you had to go through that. I also have an oily scalp and I too would feel terrible about myself in a similar situation. I wish people would be kinder in general, but especially in situations that could cause someone to be humiliated. Hugs, friend. You are perfect and amazing just as you are.
Also, I just found a gal that gives great advice on how to handle an oily scalp while still having healthy hair using drugstore products. Her name is Abbey Yung on TH-cam. Hth! :)

Hey, there! Great question.. It's not to say that you CAN'T wash it day of, but it could create more scalp sensitivity from being manipulated. It will also potentially dry your hair out more than necessary since you are getting it washed later the same day by the pros.. and depending on what kind of coloring process you are going through, you may sometimes get washed 2-4 times just at the salon! Hope this helps and thank you for watching! :)

I get oily hair fast, like the next day it will start to look oily. Would I still need to wait 2 or 3 days after washing?

This is exactly my issue, too. When I used to live in a hotter state my hair would sometimes get oily even the same day as washing it.

Can I use a clarifying shampoo the morning before my foiling appointment? I suspect I may have oil and product build up from using coconut oil and serums.

If we have hair products in it for example....Edge control....we don't need to wash it to get it out of our hair before bleaching or just rinse since itll need to be washed 2-4 times?????

    • @Arieltheonly

You don't want any product in your hair if you bleaching. It can mess with the vleach and get messed up results
