    yeah, that high speed train you took was just recently built by the Chinese. Unfortunately because of the extreme costs to build it, Laos owes billions of dollars to China and its not able to pay it back. It actually made Laos the country with highest (as of percentage of GDP) debt in the world. And because of its debt to China, Laos is now a "modern day colony" to China. Its actually quite unfortunate.

    • @maohanhsien
      @maohanhsien ปีที่แล้ว +26

      In Taiwan we had the same debate when we build our high speed railway. People said we will not be able to pay back the loans from local and international banks. But after the HSR is operational, it actually helped economic development, and we are able to pay back the loans step by step. Without transportation there's no way the economy can develop. Of course there will be risk if you invest something, but they're also potential opportunities. If you prefer things to stay the way it is forever while everyone around you is changing, that is another matter. But, you will have the possibility of being bullied by countries around you, if they are stronger than you. Then again, you have the right to do what ever you think is good for you, including not to have new infrastructure.

    • @vitkrivan9380
      @vitkrivan9380 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@maohanhsien What youre saying is most def right, however Taiwan is economically on a whole different level than a country like Laos, which is one of the poorest in Asia. China is doing this on purpose just as in Africa, where almost every country owes them big cash.
      PS: Greetings from Prague, Czech Rep (Im glad that we basically cut all ties with China after our president of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate visited your island nation several times during the past couple of years)

    • @maohanhsien
      @maohanhsien ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vitkrivan9380 As a matter of fact, IMF and World Bank, which is control by the west, gave out loans around the world much much more than China, and the reason why they don't give much loan to Africa and laos is because they don't think they will make money from these countries. But without loans, no infrastructure can be build. In fact the West is the biggest operator of debt trap. Because they are doing this scam, so they suspect others are doing the same thing. I think we better leave it to the lao people to take the decision on whether they want new infrastructure or not. Don't just tell them this is bad for you, simply because the money came from China. If Lao people wants to build infrastructure, and the West don't provide them loans, do you think it is fair for foreigners like us to tell them not to take loans only because the money is from China? If someone tells me Taiwan should do this or should not do this, l would think these people have an agenda, and doesn't care about the people of Taiwan. Only Lao people can decide what to do with their country

    • @maohanhsien
      @maohanhsien ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@vitkrivan9380 Yes many Czech politician visited Taiwan and tell us how much they support us, but to honest l think this is more about anti China, not because you guys love us. Despite what you have read in the Western media, most of the Taiwanese people don't want to be rule by China, but in the same time we don't want to go to war with them either. By the way, do you know the official name of Taiwan is actually Republic of China? Even the current government of Taiwan, which is democraticly elected, has no plan or proposal to change it. Maybe the Czech government can officially establish formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan, to show they really support us. This move can have serious consequences on Czech Republic, maybe that's why your politician just visit Taiwan, tell the world that they support us, but actually not to do anything real. Thank you for your support anyway

    • @vitkrivan9380
      @vitkrivan9380 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@maohanhsien I actually think that a lot of Czechs genuinely quite like Taiwan and respect it for its great technological development and chip manufacturing, however youre right that even more ppl despise China(mainly after our previous president was trying to tie us with China as much as possible-and people hated that idea as much as they hated the ex-president himself). The current government and the new president are both very EU/USA oriented and very much anti-Russia/China-so as youve said they want to show that as much as possible.
      And lastly, given by the history and military occupation of czechia by soviet union, ppl here know what it feels like to be opressed by another country(and also a much bigger country)-so a lot of ppl can actually relate to Taiwan and how it is/or potentially can be opressed by china in the future.

      5 You inhabitants of the earth, can a man know this offering if God does not reveal it to him? No. Never! And this is my belief. I am one who believes that God can only accept what He has revealed. Everything Moses did, it was God who revealed it to him. The construction of the ark was a revelation from God to Noah. And the Lord Jesus said: "I do nothing save whatever I see God doing first." Everything I have done and preached to this day, I have based myself on divine revelations. Branhamists say of me: "With Kacou Philippe, they are dreams and visions" and I say: Amen to that. For example: You pagans, a force can immobilize you in your sleep and you do not know what it is but I, with my own eyes, I saw this satanic force move in a house and I defeated it. And it is this force that will immobilize the dead in their graves when the prophets and those who believed in them in their time will resurrect and go up to heaven.
      6 In 1993, I stood in the same place as Moses in Genesis 1:2. The earth was in darkness and it was the appearance of the Angel and the Lamb in heaven that brought Light to the earth and I went and stood with them on the waters. And we formed a constellation above the waters. And one morning, I was invisible to men. I was a transparent cloud similar to the mirage which is above fire or the ground when the sun is scorching. I was the angel of judgment. And I could see people and I could hear them and I moved without a body in the sky but nobody saw me because I was invisible. God was showing me that I am a prophet, a rishi and that one day, when I leave the earth, I will return to this divine position with those who have believed in me and who have received purification through my Message, which I received from the Angel and the Lamb on April 24, 1993. We love your videos, Brett! May we suggest Australia sometime? I’ve never been, always wanted to go and thought it would be cool to see you go on adventures there! Maybe go to Coober Pedy there too! People have cave homes there because it’s hot desert! And plus there’s opal mines! I bet you’d find all sorts of cool stuff to get into there!

    what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc in Laos - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!

    Went for a one month holiday to Chiang Mai ended up staying for 10 years. During that time I did a LOT of cycle touring through Laos - great place.

    There are actually beautiful beaches in Laos ;) go down south to a place called 4000 Island in the mekong river delta. I recommend also spending some time in southern laos around pakse and many more places. Cheers from very rural lao village 🍻🇱🇦
