So I just had a company balance my turbo wheel assembly. The turbo went out at 650 miles. My vehicle also would not go up to speed and I knew something was wrong, but didn't know until this went. It even appears that that the turbo vibrated so much that the support bracket bolt became lose on the block. What would you do at this point? What is the cost to balance a this?
Following you for a long time, never imagined that you do not use a VSR! Yes, they are expensive, but you would be amazed on what level of unbalance you can get on the final assembled CHRA when only using the stage 2 balancing! Thei usually still get over the limit or they just have pikes of fluctuations, depending on the number of rotations! Big dislike for this...and i thought i should look up to you...i am extremely dissapointed...
Not all turbos require VRS balancing at 150k+ rpms. Especially journal bearing turbos. I have a stage 3 Allroad with k04s that were balanced this way. And not a single problem and I have 60k+ miles on them so far of 25psi spikes and hold at 22psi. Now ball bearing turbos should be VSR balanced. But journal bearings normally don't need it. As the journal bearing doesn't spin. The only thing that spins is the turbine wheel, the shaft, thrust collar, and compressor wheel.
@@PokeChu0107 your answer is so wrong that i do not know where to begin! Actually, only Holset say that their turbos do not need to be balanced, all other producers do. Also, balancing has nothing to do on wich parts rotate and witch do not. Next week i can make you a video vith a journal bearings big turbo vsr balancing, you will be shocked to learn that sometimes the unbalance is very big.
Oh, and majority of the journal bearings DO SPIN in order to reduce turbo lag. There are alot of the Garrett and a small number of KKK turbos on wich journal bearings do not spin, and they ale locked in place, but the rest of producers make them spin so they have reduced "drag", as they can apool up faster that way. Trust me, i am a true turbo specialist and i have the knoledge, my only problem being the fact that i am not a native english speaker/writer.
That machine looks a bit outdated and sorry but it seems there are a lot of holes in your knowledge or thats how you come off the way you speak about things....
So I guess turbos from a 70's vehicle were junk? Enlighten us as to these "holes in understanding". Maybe you know what you're talking about, and we'll all be better together. Maybe you're just a narcissist keyboard warrior who doesn't know his backside from his elbow........ but likes to sound cool and tough and everything..
Please do a video of the balancing being done! Would love to see it in action. So fascinating.

That's a 70' technology!! There are so many automated machines on the market now that will save you a lot of time!
Bought a broken Heins TC3 balancer for a great price once. Too expensive to fix it. 😢
A Shenck balancer utilizing an air bearing is what we use....

What do you mean the turbo went out? Is it leaking oil? Or does it not create boost
