Malasar

When we made 'Kadar', we were granted the grace of walking the jungle with loganathan. Every foot set forward, every forethought, every introspection and after thought was guided by the voices of his elders who walked the forest before him. Loganathan showed us a forest where man and elephant were inhabitants - none was above the other.
3 years have passed and we find ourselves in another wild haven, walking the jungle with Mani and his elephant, Kaleem.
Living in the way they do, always close beside one another, where each moment presents an opportunity for one to over power the other, to assert and impose, where both might and tact are equal forces, none chooses to test the balance. They carry on walking their familiar paths, pressing tracks in the mud like they always have. Mani showed us that in the top slip elephant camp, man and elephant aren't inhabitants of the forest, they are housemates.
'I call him my brother. He is the reason I have a roof over my head. A place to call 'home'. Our houses are small, but here, an elephant lives - in the stories we speak, in the dreams we dream, in knowing, what it means to be a Malasar.'
