I haven't played SC2 in so long that I was shocked to learn you no longer have to research siege mode, but I found and love your content. You have such great positive energy and love to learn and improve on even silly builds that it's inspiring. Keep being fantastic and I hope you never lose that sense of true joy and fun you seem to have for the game!
I used to watch the professional replays with casters. Now I only watch Uthermal. 100% commentary the entire time from a PRO! Not some caster second guessing the thoughts the players have. Best SC2 channel.
Way more entertaining and intuitive
There's something to be said about the full-map view and the production tab. But yes, I also only watch Thermy now.
Don't you dare make fun of HDStarcraft.
I think that Harstem's shennanigans are pretty good too lol

5:28 Super, SUPER happy to hear it didn't get to you too much. You rock, man.
SAME Louis, same!!! 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Wasnt expecting you back but thrilled :D. Dont be a silly goose and rush your mental health. We'll be happily waiting for you!
I believe this is a recording
He did say he had an extra video ready if I remember correctly
+1
He’s got maybe even a few more videos saved up since that post
@@greasy_breads what post?
PF rush is like the worst rush Terran can do. For this to be the straw that broke the camel's back is a bit hilarious
They didn't care until they started seeing someone use a PF rush and it be successful. I am betting people started copying it on the ladder then were successful using his strats and then people got REALLY salty.
inorite it's printPF not printf, other proxies are a greater worry
Ever heard of the 12 worker rush? XD
Thank you so much for your videos! Don't know if you saw my reddit post about it, but they helped me so much when I was trying to recover from my Stroke last year. This game was so vital in helping me recover and videos like yours kept me interested in it and wanting to play.
Hi Uthermal! Your videos make me happy after a long work day. Your content means a lot to me! Thank you very much!!!
Same here. Sometimes I watch his videos when I get frustrated at work. Idk why makes me calm down
@@user-nc9yu7ry8i Maybe because
of his unbridled positivity
Same here, echoing other comments uthermal's videos are the only thing that keeps me interested in starcraft on a daily basis, and has made me reinstall multiple times.
Part of what makes this series interesting is the fact you start from one point, and end at GM. It shows what really makes these weird compositions viable, as you need to make changes and adapt. This makes your series super interesting to watch. You try out compositions that most of us wish(ed) we could've pulled off, and bring some fun back to what's otherwise been a stale game over the past few years. My interest in SC2 was only revitalized by seeing refreshing content like this - keep it up!
Yeap, what he tries and how well he describes his thought process is what keeps me locked. He has many years of hands-on experience which would be hard to share if there wasn't some type of challenge involved.
Hope you're taking care of yourself and feeling better! If your brother edited this for you, thanks brother!
I get so much vicarious enjoyment from your videos. The glee in your voice when you pull off a nice micro battle or a silly strategy works makes it a pleasure to watch you play. Wishing you all the best, take all the time you need, and do what is best for you.
Great video as usual, hope your feeling well today good sir. Take as much time as you need, your grindset is remarkable and grats again on your channel growth!
Love you, uThermal! You've brought Starcraft back for me!
You are loved thermy! Take care of your physical and mental health first!
There is nothing wrong with what you are doing, do not let the salty clowns get you down. Them losing a single game is not going to be the end of the world, they seem to think their rating is their lives and I have seen you lose games on challenges against lower level players that play well and counter the attack.
It also massively promotes the game and causes an influx of much needed new players
Completely agreed
@@redbeam9212 The people who are mad would rather be GM on a 50-person ladder than Masters on a ladder with 1000s of players. Cutting off your nose to spite your face.
@@redbeam9212 Uthermal and Florencio brought me to the game and I dont even play.
And anyone who quits after one smurf thrashing is probably not going to stick to the game anyway...
Plus, Starcraft's MMR system won't take much MMR from those people since its 'confidence' in Thermy's MMR for these challenges is very low.
Marc, don't let the haters get to you mate. You have people like me (the LARGE MAJORITY) who absolutely love you and your personality and how much of a gentleman you are. We also love seeing you innovate !
uthermal and MaNa are the reason I’m back to playing sc2 in 8 years. Love watching how they play and their commentary is informative.
I'm here mindlessly clicking refresh to catch the new upload the second it lands.
You are amazing, I dont even play sc2 and I love your videos. I cant imagine my evening without one of your videos. I hope you overcome your difficulties and continue to give us more :)
I like how humble uthermal is even in his defeat. He even compliments the opposition's micro
I love to see Marc become new commentator for next GSL now that Artosis retired.
Man that protoss is so sick of smurfs PF rushing him, and I don't blame him. If he had a nickel for every time that happened he would have a whole single fucking nickel. What a joke lol.
He should spend that nickel on some water to replenish those tears!
Yes! Happy to see you back, man. I look forward to your videos each day now. Great content. Please keep it up!
Half of what makes this interesting is as you progress you play games at almost everyone's mmr and we get to see how people at our level play and respond to the unique builds. Also giving the community a chance to match against you is a once in a life time chance for those of us who will never be top GM.
Those ghost drops were a joy to watch.
Hey Marc, an idea that occurred to me that was reinforced by the first game here. Pairs to GM challenge. Rules: any time you build something, you have to build two. So two reapers to start. If you build a CC to expand, you have to build two CCs. If you build a Ghost Academy, you have to build two Ghost Academies. Etc. Two by two! :)
I love your content uThermal I enjoy watching every single video! Your perspective/opinion on the ingame problem solving has made watching your videos fascinating.
5:28 100%, couldn't have worded any of that better myself. Great videos keep it up 👍
Agreed 👍🏻
I just finished the IEM Shanghai 2016 Grand final . I didnt even know about all this. You were so small :P . i was so happy for you that you could win this at the end. So enough talking lets watch this. ;) you just a cool fun guy. Happy to find your channel.
Thanks for producing the best SC2 content on TH-cam. You are a great player and even better bloke, cheers from Australia
Don't let the reddit haters get you down. You are an amazing Starcraft content creator, the way you can commentate while playing at such a high level and also be so entertaining while you do it. You truly have a talent for showmanship. Appreciate all the effort you put into sharing all your content with us!
My day doesn't start until your videos come out
Thermy baby! You da man!
I think PiG was put of line to make that video. He's the real silly goose. Your videos are awesome. You are the first TH-cam video I look for everyday! Stay well man, hopefully you are feeling better soon.
Pig gets it. Y'all not considering the experience of the other players. While it's nice that he getting new and returning players to watch sc2, very few will actually join the ladder eventually on a long term basis. On the other hand, pig also repeatedly explained that the difference in skill between a GM and Pro is about the difference between silver and diamond. It's a very huge gap. He is smurfing and quite honestly his status as a legendary player, he can be trolling and still win if he wanted to. On the flip side, the new players who actually make it to the ladder are the victims of not just him but other Smurfs as well and will eventually quit the game. It's not because uthermal is smurfing a few games, it's because he emboldens others to do it. It's normalization of smurfing that's the issue. I mean you can tell the players to git gud but how do you expect them to if they ever other game you just know you gonna lose anyway cuz of a smurf. Most just lose motivation. Those salty players you laughing at were probably some newer players who left. With the game coming going to the final phase of it's cycle, you want to ideally welcome and enhance new player experience, not ruin it. Again it's not uthermal smurfing that's the issue, his popularity will embolden others to. There are already a sub section of TH-camrs that are getting on XtoGM bandwagon and their fanbases are happily copying the strats to dump on newer players. There will be a point where it will reach critical mass. And.blizzard is very slow in responding as you have noticed, if critical mass of smurfs on ladder, Welp GG to ask the aspiring players just trying to get better gradually but get thrown against folks who want to play around and demolish them. Easy and fun entertainment has a cost
Stopped playing SC2 eight or so years ago fully, ended up getting a rec for your vids on youtube. Now I look forward to coming home and watching your newest everyday when I get home. Just wanted to show support and say thanks for the great content.
Sincerely,
A retired cannon rusher
You are the best content creator on the internet! Thanks for always making me smile and for being an all around good guy! I hope you are taking your much deserved break to rest up.
Uthermal I like how you're somewhat indifferent to the haters! the unfair target on your back is helping grow your channel!
"If you're 5k and you're losing to PF rush, then there's nothing to complain about" 100% agree. For all the complaints about Terran whine, Protoss salt was the overwhelming majority from that reddit thread.
not if your opponent is 6k with sick micro and reapers
but it's not JUST a PF rush is it? It's a PF rush by the number 36 (20 outside of Korea) player in the WORLD playing his main race....
@@pirds102010 And that's the whole point of the challenge isn't it. To see how far uthermal can go by handicapping himself but still finding innovative ways to win. He isn't engaging in toxic behavior. He isn't leaving games to artificially lower his MMR, which is what smurfing truly is. I've seen Hikaru Nakamura beat 2000+ ELO chess players with fewer pieces and other handicaps and no one in the chess community is getting salty over a problem that doesn't exist. I'm truly baffled as to the small minority of redditors that are getting so salty over this.
@@pirds102010 The matchmaking smurfs people then because 6k players constantly match against 1k lower players, people need to stop taking rating as the end all be all of their lives.
But this is textbook smurfing. 1 loss so far. Everyone is bad on ladder or maybe this pf is not such a big handicap. In ranked you should win lose approx 50%. Not .5%. The protoss would have lost much less mmr if he loses the game vs a 6k account. He was playing against a 6k+ player trolling...
I love learning micro from you! Great video, thanks!
Saltcannon PF rushed the forums and drown in a river of master league tears
Those ghost snipes were absolutely amazing! Thanks for the content. I realize this was recorded a while ago however take your time, don't listen to any haters and hopefully you continue creating this amazing content. It's the only SC2 stuff I watch these days.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the series you make. You make challenges that are difficult to push at high levels but still make them work, and it's not like you're starting at a low tier. On top of that, even though you're retired as a pro gamer I think doing these challenges has given you a skill in flexibility that a lot of ppl don't have and I think that's really cool to watch.
Felt like I should also add, while I'm a pretty terrible SC2 player whatching your games makes me at the very least feel confident early on and I'm learning to get better for late game
A single loss on starcraft is 100% worth the enjoyment of thousands of people who watch your videos. You inspire a lot of people to play. Anyone who says otherwise is selfish.
Your views say it all, SC2 needs this for entertainment and fun.
I dont even play starcraft but this content is so epic, ive watched like 30 videos
I haven’t even played StarCraft 2 although I played StarCraft 1 competitively on battlenet decades ago. I loved the old school cannon rushes and crazy tactics. Your StarCraft 2 content never disappoints. Love the channel dude. Keep it up Salt Lord!
Marc, telling you, Vitamin D and more sunlight cures the blahs. Years ago I lived in a big city with lots of skyscrapers. I woke up in the dark, went to work (inside) and came out after dark. Got depressed. Therapist said to get an apartment facing the sun and to go out everyday for lunch in the sun/park. I did it. Cured.
He went to Mexico for the sun and get sick there constantly, seems he's having bad luck! Hopefully he'll recover soon and just takes it easy for a bit.
This is such underrated advice. When I can't get enough sunlight, I supplement with vitamin D. If I miss it for 2+ days I start to feel inexplicably hopeless. I don't really know how else to describe it. I try to share this with friends and family who are struggling, but they are usually skeptical. I understand their response, as my claim is anecdotal, but the science does back it up as well.
For me, personally, I find the effects much more noticeable when I go from correct levels of vitamin D and feeling normal to low levels and feeling suddenly awful. That's when it clicked that I really was missing something critical. Going from low levels and feeling bad to correct levels and feeling fine again prior to that actually slipped my awareness. In hindsight, it's surprising, but I guess it makes sense that I'm less likely to notice that I'm feeling normal. Feeling normal is great, but it's pretty unremarkable (in terms of paying attention to sudden changes) compared to quickly and drastically feeling that overwhelming sense of hopelessness. I think this is important to keep in mind in terms of personal compliance. It's like wearing good shoes before walking on rough terrain. You don't really notice how much they help if you're always doing it, but as soon as you try to go barefoot it's so obvious that something important is missing.
How you’re able to cast while providing this level of play is ridiculous. I’m thoroughly impressed.
Hey Marc, love your content. Watching your videos has been a part of my daily routine since I found your channel. Your nice wholesome vibes and great attitude are admirable. Thank you for the time and effort you put into all of your uploads. Hope you're able to take your time to recover and remember you're appreciated ❤
Hope you are feeling better day by day!
Glad to see you, Marc 💕😊
Keep up the entertaining content. You're one of the few SC2 channels that I even watch these days. Ignore the haters.
Thanks for the fun upload, marc. Hope you get well soon. We're all rooting for ya!
😁 thank you for everything you do!
You're making this game better. Fun strategies keeps the game interesting. Thank you!
"If you're 5k and you're losing to PF rush, then there's nothing to complain about" - bravo, sir!
This was what Smurfgate was utterly missing the point on. Yes, there can be a problem with ppl smurfing something like bronze to GM and playing serious builds... but Thermy ain't doing that... he's doing dumb arse builds and seeing how high it can go. Similar to "beating GM with stupid stuff" with Harstem, but imho with even more stupid stuff and rules, which does give the opportunity for the ppl he's playing against to actually win!
Loved this as much as usual. Great content. Happy to see you :) Hope you are feeling okay.
Marc, I'm in the US and watch your videos late, so I don't always get the opportunity to be seen/heard first in the comments. I wanted to let you know that I appreciate what you're going through. I also want you to know that I value your content creation ability enormously. Stay strong. Much love from beautiful western CO, USA.
I know this is a recorded vid from before you announced you're taking a break, but still.. hope you're feeling better, man
Was it tho? He specifically addressed that his viewers backed him up in the last video which was just 2 days ago..

Thank you for what you're doing and the way you do it. I played SC2 when i was 12 and i love watching your videos. Your commentary abilities is impressive
How can someone call you for smurfing when next game you meet high grand master Zerg:) don't worry about negative people, you are doing amazing work on showing how much fun you can have even on ladder:)
6.40 - "I do hope I can get it up this time" That hit home buddy... 😉
Really really enjoy watching you play starcraft in a way that makes it interesting again!!
I love seeing the salt! You are amazing and your crazy gameplay got me wanting to play SC2 again. I love it man!
the salt mine has just gone to a new level.
Hope you get well soon and find peace and solace with yourself and your work. Miss you, but take your time recovering.
uThermal, with the unique pocket in the SC2 community that you've carved out -- that is your kingdom -- people will try to grab the crown and tear you down. Smite them. Smite those haters good and smite them hard.
I think this challenge is the peak performance of Marc. Nothing beats that.
Take all the time you need for your uploads.
Your videos are somehow unique and usually worth the waiting
Congrats on hitting 80k Marc, soon 100k I'm sure!
Hey man, don't really follow you much closely but here on TH-cam. Never played SC2 in my life but stuck around due to the level of your gameplay, your commentary and just your ability to juggle so many things at the same time while giving us the viewers a clear window while you do all of this.
You're a great guy, sharp, funny and generally good vibes. Didn't know about your struggles with MH but I am there in the same boat with you, and I guess all I can suggest is hitting them gym and meditating daily. That's what has helped me so far.
I saw your TH-cam message about taking a break. Your videos have been highly informative and instructive, and entertaining - thanks for all of it!! Take care, and I hope you get well soon!
Mad lad theory crafter here. What about landing the command center on the main ramp (or maybe away from the ramp) with 3 scvs loaded into it. At the same time have a distraction attack on the natural with your units to pull any units to the low ground, then use the SCV's to quickly wall off the high ground of the enemies main base to prevent them from having low ground units from moving up quick enough to prevent the planetary from completing.
If your army is constantly pressuring the front forcing units to deal with it, then the SCVs that are building the wall will cost a level of APM that most players, even at a high level, just wont be able to handle without something collapsing. All this on top of the split second decision making of what to prioritize. Save the natural? Lose units from your units in the natural trying to kill the SCV's as quickly as possible to keep the wall off weaker? If all the unit production is in the main then the wall also prevents reinforcements from reaching the natural. It's just an absolute nightmare scenario on paper and I would LOVE to see this idea in action.
I think it could work really well against Protoss I imagine. It has potential to work against Terran, especially with high level Terrans not completely walling off the high ground (if walling it off at all). And it could theoretically work against Zerg if they don't connect their natural and main via creep, though, I'm not sure how many Zergs do that at higher level.
I haven't played SC2 in forever, but your videos are for sure getting me back in the mood to play
They really don't make games like this anymore. I really miss the hardcore strategy and fast pace moves that can result in everything crumbling down if done wrong.
When you have ptsd from the sound of snipes and Marc calls it satisfying 😅
I came to the channel for the battlecruiser series and now I am totally hooked!!
Love this shit
The PF rush is my fav series. So much salt. Hope you're doing better Marc. Keep up the amazing content.
Sometimes after watching one of Marc's videos I find myself commentating what I'm doing in my head.
"Oooh massive blunder by me, forgot to do laundry yesterday."
"My kitchen is in absolute shambles after cooking dinner tonight."
Your response to your first opponent’s insult put a huge smile on my face. So glad to see you address it and stand up for yourself. 🙂
I have a new idea for a challenge: i call it the "bingo to grandmaster" where 5 of approximately 30 small challenges are randomly chosen and u have to complete them all befor wining the game. it could look like that:
Build 10 widow mines
bong cloud
harras with a thor
1st cc has to be a planetary
proxy a starport
ofc your great commuity can help with coming up with creative challenges!
>small challenges
>bongcloud
just fyi, that is NOT a small challenge. It absolutely screws your economy
@@Ramusculus you are right! that would be too much
Keep rocking and mining that salt! If people can't manage losing a game of Starcraft, then that's their own problem I'd say. Love the videos!
This Is just a game. It Is ok to lose. Do not give them importance. Don't bother, uThermal. Your content Is great!
Funny how people complain of cheese, except when they do it themself; any strategy that makes them lose is bad, those people should stick to single player, if they can´t handle lose to people online. Keep up the great videos :)
It's the cheese plus it being on video with quite a bit of people viewing.
This channel and Mana's are just kinda wholesome, but there's some streamers out there who insult and grief opponents, but you hear nothing about it. Now we get higher level players who get the shit end of the stick and it's a problem.
@@dawnstar81 I get what you are saying, I always viewed cheese as a strategy, it´s really simple to implement a no building outside your half of the map for 3-5min, and all the "cheese" would be dead, so it´s meant to be part of the game, imo. Insulting people because they lose a game is really low, they are probably the people who get angry when they lose :)
@@nilsdemello907 I assume so, I play Bronze (with a losing record), 2v2/3v3 and against AI. And it's like 30-40% insults and game throwing (attacking team mates for example). And that's the lowest skilled bunch of us.
Don’t give into the haters man, losing is part of the game. I hope to continue seeing content from your channel.
the way i see it, if they're complaining about being smurfed on, they're complimenting you on your skillz. you do you, uThermal
Love the content Thermy! Its my morning ritual with a cup of coffee before work
People should play games to have fun. If you can have fun in a competitive setting, then please do. But be honest with yourself when making that decision.
Glad you are having fun uThermal!
Love the positivity in video and comment section here.
"If you're 5k and you're losing to a planetary rush there is nothing to complain about." The saaaavagery! Thermy says he's clearing up the bracket for people who belong there lmao.

You make me smile every time a video is uploaded. Thanks for that. And i hope you are doing well
that ghost micro with the medivacs, disgusting(ly good)
When he called you a Smurf, really he was calling you a God...
If he knew you were smurfing he knew exactly what was about to happen and every decision should have been to counter. At 5k the salt is unwarranted.
The plebbitor was just a crybaby who got soundly beaten. instead of learning, they'd rather cry. Forever diamond for that spud i guess!
