and the tooltip in the loading screen for the next match: "Starcraft II is played by professional gamers. Watch pro matches to learn new strategies." indeed
I imagine it's a bit of a "double edged sword". Being unstoppable can be boring because there's next to no challenge involved. Either way this game deserves a larger following imo.
@@naeledro This goes from the opposite: good manner is just to GG and out, while if one is angry and salty, he would do anything to break this simple flow of actions - using pause or refusing to leave the game until the last structure destroyed.
For the grand finale I think the absolute most insane silly goose move would be to fly 2 cc into the opponent's base. I know it's plain impossible so it would be so crazy :)
I've played and watched 10s of thousands of games, going back to vanilla SC1, and that last match was some of the best STARCRAFT I've ever seen. Bravo, sir!
Not really, just abusing siege tanks and sieged liberators in a choke to melt other units, nearly nothing they can do about it, a tale as old as time, and why I always cheesed vs Terran, playing vs them is cancer.
how is this the most successful challenge so far? The win rate is crazy. At the beginning we were all doubting. But this makes us believe it's a legit strat!
this encourages speed running style timing attacks/all-ins which are awesome to see because small micro makes huge differences. This is the unfortunate part about proxy zerg hatcheries. Its not fun seeing zerglings run everywhere when medivac/liberator/siege tank micro is soo much better
Well the opponents get higher rated each episode so they’re better at defending so he has to come up with new ways to make it work. That probably has something to do with it.
Last one wasnt a planetary rush, it was a CC rush. And it worked. PF never got halfway done, just having the CC there, waiting, ready, threatened the guy enough.
Last game was the most satisfying game I have ever seen of SC2. Thank you Uthermal. I deal with mental health as well and your videos always brighten up my day for a bit. Thank you!
Started playing again because of your videos. Don't think I'll get back to diamond nowadays but thanks for reviving sc for me, been a sc head since the lan days!!!
Man, when you started this challenge I thought that the PF was too committal and it was going to be hard to make real progress, but here you are somehow making it work at this level of MMR. Just incredible. I love watching it
You know how I know uThermal is amazing? I don't even play ranked SC2 and I'm infatuated with watching him dominate on a regular basis. The man is a legend.
I wasn't planning on missing this game, but thanks for the extra encouragement :) I wouldn't miss a single game of PF rush to GM, this series is the most amazing one since the Bongcloud series.
Been pulling this stuff on my friends in 1 v 1 ended up building a 5 PF with 6 bunker contain infrot of their base with vikings patrolling for any air drops. So much fun watching people's brains melt. Thanks for all the content!
New GM series idea : called - 'Ow, my neck' Only able to use units that can't shoot up - i.e. Reapers, Marauders, Hellions, Tanks, Banshees Would certainly be a challenge and a meme :)
Such fun viewing. Haven’t had this much fun watching SC2 since when Neeb was rolling WCS. About the same time as Thermy was dominating with 3 racks reaper builds 😂
a CC/Planetary is an amazing tank/wall and aggro grabbing tool, plus it can often times build SCVs for front line repairs. It really can radically change how a fight pans out
Lmao toss at the end mad af that he lost to a PF rush when he KNEW it was coming. Gotta say that is so satisfying to see after many patches of Cannon Rushing with batteries, nexus, and stargates right at your front door being very viable cheese that even pros found difficult to counter. We already knew Zerg and Toss had powerful cheeses where you build defensive structures directly at your enemy's front door that confuse the hell out of people as it's really not obvious what to focus down first, so it's absolutely hilarious and vindicating to see that this same thing can happen regularly at high level of play for Terran.
the second game was a masterclass. the third game bent reality itself. 38:2 with PF rush. unreal. i had high hopes for this challenge but this surpasses any expectations.
One of my favorite challenges was Beastyqt’s “no attack to gm”. He did one with each race. With Terran you can’t attack for 25 minutes but you can nuke with ghosts unlimited. Super campy with tanks, PFs, and turrets all over. The only downside is it makes for very long games, but still it was my fav.
Protoss, seeing command center being built: Oh, I got this... I'll just keep hitting the SVC so it can't ever finish or land or turn into a PF. Immortals, stalkers, prism, I'm good. uThermal: but if I almost lose, repeatedly, then I'm still winning. Protoss: wait, what?
Playing under a barcode will give the element of surprise, but using a recognizable name can lead to some interesting mind games and outplays And the names you cook up are pretty funny also
It's basically just that he gets to play terran without handicapping himself to just one or two units, using his full arsenal of skill but getting an eco disadvantage from the start by building a planterary. And being like the 4th best terran player in europe, the macro/micro/decision making beats most players
@@jacobsvensson8193 This challenge *requires* the offensive use of a particularly oddball and expensive “unit”. You are more describing uThermal’s Bongcloud play where at the start of the game he moves his main CC out to an outside base location. That is a pure eco/positional handicap, without unit restrictions or requirements. They are definitely worth checking out, if you haven’t seen them. (Edit typo)
Trying to remember all the challenges so far: Bongcloud Ghosts Raven/Hellion Cyclone/Mine Proxy Hatch Sky Terran Speedrunning SC2 PF Marine/Medivac Cheese That's 10 different ones right there!
Ohhhh man, if only that 2nd game had gone on for another 20 seconds without you realizing your cc was lifted. All of your scvs just strolling up into the fight.
@14:54 unintentional SCV conga-line was hilarious! 👌🏻👏🏻
New challenge: Conga line to GM
@@mikeballew3207 I believe this must be a celebratory episode when he reaches 100k subscribers!
"100k conga tournament special"
I wonder what the guy felt when he saw that in the replay lol
and the tooltip in the loading screen for the next match: "Starcraft II is played by professional gamers. Watch pro matches to learn new strategies." indeed
It must be so much fun being this good at SC2.
Anyone can pick up this game and play this well
i'm pretty bad and have never even gotten to masters, but i have an absolute blast getting to diamond with some of these builds.
to be fair, I can't see myself getting passed diamond 3, but I'm still having a lot of fun. Would love to be able to play this comfortably though.
I imagine it's a bit of a "double edged sword". Being unstoppable can be boring because there's next to no challenge involved. Either way this game deserves a larger following imo.
I played online once. Someone jumped a reaper into my base and I thought this is not for me
The lift off to get one more square had me rolling.
Uthermal used "Maybe he's not paying attention!?" it's super effective!
10:08 the timing
Uthermal: I think am not ready to go
Marine: gogogo
xD
the BM pauses made this video absolutely golden
Salt does increase the flavor
Salt Cannon got its shot!
I thought accidentally lifting his cc and the scv's coming across the map was also a golden moment!
I'm curious, why is pause quitting considerem BM? Doesn't seem to do much for the other opponent.
@@naeledro This goes from the opposite: good manner is just to GG and out, while if one is angry and salty, he would do anything to break this simple flow of actions - using pause or refusing to leave the game until the last structure destroyed.

Impossible. Maybe super late game
Don’t temp Thermy with crazy

I played over a Billion sc games and programmed bw from scratch for school project ... I also loved this last game

man this episode was a banger but that last game was REAL clutch
Planetary fortress rush is my favourite series so far. There's something about flying a command center in that's incredibly satisfying.
Game 3 was truly epic. The degree of skill to pull that off and just so casually narrate it so awesome
how is this the most successful challenge so far? The win rate is crazy. At the beginning we were all doubting. But this makes us believe it's a legit strat!
I have no idea what’s going on but your passion for the game is so infectious that I started playing the campaign and I’m having a blast!
How is each ep even better than the last!?
Right??!!??!!

Nah, nothing beats that 1hp PF.
Best Planetary distraction to GM yet! :D
I dont play sc2 for years. But i love your videos. Great entertainment! Thanks a lot!
Yea, same :)) last game was 5 years ago
Last one wasnt a planetary rush, it was a CC rush. And it worked. PF never got halfway done, just having the CC there, waiting, ready, threatened the guy enough.
that last game was 🔥🔥🔥
You cracking up at your mistakes while STILL winning is such PURE JOY. Love it.

Marc! The end of the second match had me in stitches! Hahaha thanks for the laugh, mate.

Lifting your main orbital is a next level bm move.
That command center lift made me laugh so hard.

The pure joy after a win .... and after all these yrs playing. =)) Bangin'
That last game was madness! I can't imagine how good it must feel to crush a blind counter. I had to rewatch that last game. It was unbelievable!
Reynor switches to Terran after losing to Uthermal's Planetary Fortress

The end of game 2 reminds me of that game Idra ragequit against MMA without realizing MMA had accidentally killed his own planetary fortress earlier.
That was a beautiful, silly, entertaining mess of an episode. I love it!
That last game had me sweating bullets! Great comeback from a blind counter. GOATed
That CC/Lib/Tank march is just terrifying. It's like you are relentlessly bulldozing your opponents.
Oh, man, that last game! So close the entire time! And I love the pauses at the end, that player was pissed 🤣
I was massively into SC and SC2 PvE back in the day. I haven't played in many years but these videos are super entertaining!
uthermal's ability to not freakout when then whole rooms burning down is amazing
Such fun viewing. Haven’t had this much fun watching SC2 since when Neeb was rolling WCS. About the same time as Thermy was dominating with 3 racks reaper builds 😂
Love your videos - haven't played this game in AGES but these are so entertaining to watch!

Thank you uThermal!
Really happy to see that you feel well enough to upload daily! Youre an inspiration, brotha
South fun to watch. Been watching you from the beginning and you are on your way to 100k subs. Awesome brother
OMG Marc. This episode was so amazing. the mistakes. the low scv. everything was so amazing
the game where protoss recognizes you makes me want to see a challenge where you name yourself whatever rush your doing as part of the challenge.
That last game though!!Didn't realise I held my breath for those last minutes

They way he lined up his units for your hellions on that ramp game 1, oh baby.
pushing for that algorithm! sending energy to you man
Yooo game 2 was hilarious 😂 this channel is one of my favs ngl
These games were hilarious! Actually laughed at the end. Very entertaining.
The reaction of discovering that you lifted the orbital is priceless!
Yes, game 3 is really cool and dynamic!!!
14:20 I can't believe you finally exploded your own head right there :D
Holy crap lmao!! That last game was insane the CC is such good bait

I almost missed this game but then I saw the title, thanks uthermal!
The third game was such a uThermal game… planetary rush without a planetary… gets scouted immediately… blind countered, still wins!!!
15:20 uthermal with the almost 3 gazillion IQ play ▶️▶️▶️ lifting all other command centers except the one in need for repairs... "Pulling the Bros"
never seen a bm pause before. didn't even know that was a thing
uthermal better player than pros, better commentators than commentators, at the same god damn time.

I thought you had no chance in that final game. Amazing!
Dayum, was not expecting you to win that last one.
Got blind countered, at a planetary fortress rush, and won. I did not think this was even doable at this high level. Really impressive!
Incredible games!! That was fun the watch!
