Keeping that toilet seat down when flushing (in non commercial toilets) is so important for keeping a cloud of fecal bacteria from spreading all over your bathroom (and in commercial bathrooms with *multiple* toilets, don't touch anything you don't have to touch) and always wash your hands to prevent e-coli infection of yourself and others.

Wash their bowls at the end of the day with the same liquid dish soap you use for your plates (or first thing in the morning before feeding them). These r some good ideas, never knew i could take the blade outta my blender, ty! I clean my toilet plunger after each use and keep fabuloso in my toilet brush holder. While washing a load of dirty clothes, i wipe the laundry basket down with lysol wipes before putting the clean clothes back in it.
I do clean all of those. Plus my towel holders, my toilet paper holders, my shoe racks, soap holders if I use bar soaps for anything….its so nice to know this is normal because my husband thinks I’m nuts. My kids think it’s OCD which I do have but I’m more worried about the germs in our home due to compromised immune systems. I routinely clean my door knobs as well.
Thanks! Also remember the broom and dustpan and vacuum and waste-paperbasket. (I think "dirty laundry" baskets and "clean laundry" baskets should be different types or colors so clean laundry is never put into a dirty basket.) Cleaning laundry baskets often is a great idea!
PAM, I love your COMMON SENSE being so COMMON!!! 🎉 I am an OCD individual and have to sanitize the entire house. My youngest son asked me why do I have to take everything off the walls, and move all the furniture when I clean up!! 😂 My most favorite cleaning products are vinegar, blue dawn, baking soda, and 91% Isopropyl Alcohol. I mop the floors with either straight vinegar or Alcohol. Everything else is cleaned with a vinegar and dawn mixture. Baking Soda is sprinkled in cabinets, underneath couches and things that stay in pla e for long periods of time.
I think I'm going to make some fabric liners for my laundry baskets so I can throw them into the wash with the last load of clothing that needs to be washed. This way; I will always start collecting my clothes inside a fresh environment.
This is what I have (linen liners) in my laundry "baskets" (more like top-load cabinets), one which is 1 wicker, the other reinforced natural rope (prob jute or sisal). I have strips of velcro affixed in order to easily secure and remove the linen liners. Pop 'em in with the laundry, Voila! (The vessels are relatively heavy, so they live in the closet.) I also have oversized drawstring laundry bags (2 linen, 1 mesh-top nylon) which were manufactured for that purpose, so you can pop 'em in with laundry, too. Easy-peasy, and takes up a LOT less room. (For anyone w/o baskets, who might read this.) Since I got into the habit of folding my clean clothes in the laundry room, they get put right back into those bags, slung over my shoulder, until I get back into my apt. Do it, Debbie! (Create or buy some.) So many times, many of us have a great idea, or come across a creative solution, and we procrastinate. Don't just think it, DO it. 💛 (Not to myself, too. 💯)
I have laundry bags that I throw right in the washer with my laundry. They're the 1st things I pull out after the dryer is done, then scoop everything straight out into the clean bags.
Great tips Pam. I'd also add, anything you 'handle' (esp in the kitchen or bath) should be cleaned periodically - cabinet/drawer pulls, door knobs, spice jars, buttons on appliances, garbage bin handle/lid, etc. I'm not a 'germaphobe', but it doesn't hurt to include these things we handle daily. Like you I avoid bleach when I can, primarily because bleach is corrosive to any metal and over time can really damage various surfaces. Also, whatever cleaning solution you use, be certain to read the directions. Many, many products require sitting (wet) on the surface for 5 minutes or so in order to actually "disinfect" or sanitize, so just wiping something off may not do anything more than remove the surface 'dirt'. Did you know that your treated city water from your faucet (not well water) contains enough chlorine to kill most common bacteria (which is the purpose of treating the water to begin with, to kill harmful bacteria such as E coli)!
Excellent video. One of my biggest pet peeves is putting just washed clothes directly back into the same hamper you had the dirty clothes in. Thank you for covering this. Here’s my solution. I use pillow cases to hold dirty clothes. I can put small items (like underwear and socks) in one, dress shirts in another, etc. I just bring the loaded pillow case to the washer, adding the pillow case in the load. Once everything is dried, I hang up shirts and pants, and throw the small items back in the (now clean) pillow case.
Pam, we are sisters from another mister😂 I do all of these except I never thought of the paper towel thing. I stopped your video to go look and it was atrocious. I had to take care of it and come back and finish your video after I was done lol love your channel. Keep being you.💫💞

@ It “breaks your heart” that other people own two items that combined cost around $100? Many, many people live outside of cities where even some apartments have some yard access to work with. Mostly, I think my priorities are different in that I am willing to live in a shabby house with an outdated 60s kitchen and old flooring and carpeting, and I drive a 2012 used vehicle I paid 7K for so I can have a private yard … and a pressure washer I bought mainly to prep the house for painting to save money. You’re probably causing yourself a lot of unnecessary heartache if you think you know the sum of one person‘s existence by one line on a TH-cam comment….

I also dry the water well of my Mr. Coffee. Most of the time i use a black coffe maker because it doesn't show coffee stains Last year ,our Mr. Coffee broke and we could only get it in the color white. Well,lo and behold, one day i was about to fill the coffee make r with water, and I noticed the entire bottom of the well was full of blue mold. You would NEVER see this in a black coffee maker. I dry out the water welll every use. Totally freaked me out
When I was younger, I moved into a small place. Cleaned everything with Lysol. Couldn't figure out where this smell was coming from in the bathroom. Guess where. The outside/underside of the toilet tank! I have never forgotten that one.
My dog's dishes always go in the dishwasher. Toilet brush spends a few hours in the sun after use. I need to clean the holder. I noticed the tile wall next to my toilet paper dispenser gets "furry" after a few weeks with fluff from the toilet paper, I have to wipe down the wall. The laundry basket stays pretty clean, but the dirty clothes hamper gets dirty in the bottom and underneath it as well. Thank you, Pam.
I can’t stand the the amount of fine lint that flies around from most toilet paper brands! The premium ‘soft’ ones are the worst culprits, though Kirkland is linty, too. Scott doesn’t have that issue, neither does 365 (store brand from Whole Foods). Toilet paper made from bamboo is also good, and more sustainable, but pricier.
Also, clean & disinfect kitchen trash cans! The easiest & most sanitary way to clean the toilet brush is to clean it in the toilet bowl. After thoroughly cleaning the toilet, I pour bleach in the toilet water & place the brush in the water. I also spray the handle with a bleach, water, detergent mixture. I also pour this mixture in the brush holder. Let them sit for 15-30 minutes, gently pour hot water over the brush handle to rinse in the toilet. I do the same for the holder. You also wipe the brush handle and holder with disinfectant wipes. Flush the toilet, spray disinfectant cleaner in it, let it sit & flush again!

Love your videos. Always good info. I like that you don't use harsh cleaners. I love baking soda mixed with a few drops of dish soap and a few drops of water. It mixes into the nicest scrub for pots and sinks.
The one item that I clean every time I use it is my electric can opener. The cutting blade can get really dirty. Also I wipe down all of the unit including the very bottom before I put it away.
Great advice! And you use the same 3 main ingredients I use to clean with! Dawn & baking soda in a lil water is amazing for the toilet bowl! And I clean almost everything else with vinegar!
Pam, I do all this . On a note, when I got cancer. The Drs told me throw cleaners away & use vinegar, baking soda & alcohol, Peroxide. It all works to sanitize. Cleaners r just chemicals that needs to be rinsed off after cleaning - which is another step to do. I bet most people don't rinse it though. I found it off that they didn't include bleach either!! Thanks for video. People are so freaking NASTY,!!!
@Catty-g4v I agree all of those cleaners are so toxic! I don't even use my microwave anymore (I keep it unplugged)...if it weren't for my bf needing to eat his breakfast early (& heat it quickly), I would throw it out the window!
I use wintergreen alcohol in a spray bottle and clean with...Also spray bottles of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. You can just spray a laundry basket and other things
My doggie is a very messy eater and if a piece of her food goes flying in her water bowl she will not go near it . And both her food and water bowls are stainless steel. I'm sitting here staring At my dirty paper towels holder as I'm typing 😂😂. Thanks Pam and just one other thing you're spice rack looks spotless compared to mine! Oh my goodness 😂😂😂😂 I'm on it!😅😅👍👍 love and God bless
I use a tall, empty prescription bottle to store my toothbrush in. Just clean with dish soap, then let dry. Be sure to thoroughly clean the toothbrush, then store it upside down, to prevent exposure to splashing toilet water. When the bottle gets cruddy, just replace it, with another one.
My daughter fought me tooth & nail there was no need to clean the toilet brush & holder. I didn't want to touch it knowing soap & hot water didn't touch it after a cleaning. I keep a cap of Bleach with water in the holder, which usually evaporates in time for another cleaning. Replace t&b as needed or 3/4 yrs. My plunger is cleaned with Bleach & water and placed in a bag when dry. Trauma from being responsible for cleaning 3 bathrooms 3 days a week for 5 people from 11 to 18 years old.
People tend to use too much bleach per ratio of water. At least 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. Also, don’t forget the microwave. Cleaning use half cup water half cup vinegar, microwave for at least seven minutes wipe clean.
Oh, the laundry basket...I can't stand a dirty basket, even though the dirty clothes go in it. Even at a very nice laundromat, I see people's baskets and I have to restrain myself from cleaning it 😊
Yikes! Ever thought to clean the stepstool! The grands step on it to wash their hands after going potty! Now I know what I’ll be doing after this video!
Oh my land, I'd be cleaning all day every day. I guess I'm not that much of a germaphobe. I feel lucky if I can get to the basics at my old age. I did forget about the blender blade. I do clean the cat bowls daily. I have a cloth hamper I've never cleaned so I'll put it in the wash tomorrow. How do you clean the toilet brush and holder again? Maybe I should just buy the disposables that are bad for the environment.
I always clean my blade and the inside of machine where the blade goes. I clean that I made sure it's clean, I just cleaned my electric tea kettle the other day. With vinegar and warm water and dawn dish soap
I clean my blender blades every time I use it. I clean my teapot with citric acid. I wash the pet bowls multiple times a day. I can't believe anyone needs to be told how to clean. I clean every surface and object in my house on a regular bases.
What?!!? People don’t take their blenders apart to clean? Thanks for the info. Next time I go to someone’s house who has blended something, I’ll take a pass. YUCK. And thanks for the other tips
I have separate baskets for dirty and clean laundry and never mix them. I do clean them every few weeks but the dirty never goes in the clean basket and vice versa!
My tooth brush stays in my medicine cabinet. Rinse it out in hydrogen peroxide. Always keep the toilet cover down when flushing.

Thank you yesterday I have containers that I was going through after going through them I decided to spray and clean out the containers
Wonderful!
I use wintergreen alcohol in a spray bottle and clean with...Also spray bottles of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. You can just spray a laundry basket and other things
@@janelsara6404 i do the same, and alternate with vinegar weekly, and spray disinfectant daily
Good call on the laundry hamper 😀
Love your kitchen and that’s it nice and clutter free
Thank you!! 😊
I always take the entire blender apart each time.
How do people not? I just don’t understand.
@@PHBRNTGGR2 it's so easy to do and pop it in the dishwasher if you don't want to clean it by hand.
After watching this, and realizing that many people apparently don’t do this, I’ll never accept the offer of a smoothie at anyone’s house again. 🤢
What about flat screen TV's?🙂
Great tips thanks for this video.
You also wouldn't drink your glass of water if it had a tiny chunk of meat sitting in it. lol
@le_th_ I don't sniff or eat stuff off the ground either.... L OL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Spice Containers...
At the restaurant, when you reach for the S&P and the container is greasy or sticky 😮🥴 Ugh.
Good video, thank you
Thank you too!
Also your K- cup holders. They catch dirt also. I wipe mine down ever other day.
😂
Oh my land, I'd be cleaning all day every day. I guess I'm not that much of a germaphobe. I feel lucky if I can get to the basics at my old age. I did forget about the blender blade. I do clean the cat bowls daily. I have a cloth hamper I've never cleaned so I'll put it in the wash tomorrow. How do you clean the toilet brush and holder again? Maybe I should just buy the disposables that are bad for the environment.
I'm glad someone spoke up on the time all this cleaning would take 🤔
Thank you Pam!!
Thank you
Thank you 😊
I just love you! Thank you for sharing your tips! God bless.
You are so welcome
I always clean my blade and the inside of machine where the blade goes. I clean that I made sure it's clean, I just cleaned my electric tea kettle the other day. With vinegar and warm water and dawn dish soap
Your knife holder. It is the odd things we don't think about. A quick wipe down with a clean rag and dawn dish soap.
I clean my blender blades every time I use it. I clean my teapot with citric acid. I wash the pet bowls multiple times a day. I can't believe anyone needs to be told how to clean. I clean every surface and object in my house on a regular bases.
Inside the drawer where flatware is kept. That thing that holds the flatware.
So right,we don’t think about That tank Pam
I completely take the blender apart and throw all the non- electric parts into the top of the dishwasher.
What?!!? People don’t take their blenders apart to clean? Thanks for the info. Next time I go to someone’s house who has blended something, I’ll take a pass. YUCK. And thanks for the other tips
My thoughts exactly! 😱🤢
I was horrified to learn that people don’t clean the blender every single time-or never! 😳🤮
I have separate baskets for dirty and clean laundry and never mix them. I do clean them every few weeks but the dirty never goes in the clean basket and vice versa!
Your toothbrush has gunk/germs on it from dust, germs in your bathroom. There is a sanitizer for your toothbrush which is great.
How about our silicone scraper. I was surprised when I removed the scraper from the handle .Not nice!
Where can i get a spice rack like that?
My daughter gave that to me many years ago I have never seen another one.
I bought one very similar to that st JCPenney, several years ago (2015).
