Spending time with loved ones instead of focusing on social media? Goodness how dare you 😹 I did consider doing something for the Ravellenics, but I'm doing the 100 nights to Halloween countdown (one knitting project, one crochet) so I'm already doing a lot 😹 Can't wait for the updates on your projects!
@@UnwindingwithFiberandFabric It started on the 23rd, so it's now 4 or 5 days in - plenty of time if you wanted to join in too! I'm using Halloween themed yarn to crochet a blanket and to knit leg warmers/gloves, so simple things but using very fun yarn. Either way, I hope you have a good week!
Hello, your colors and yarns are lovely. It is great you can share your creative life with your son. I ended TDF with 1091.6 yards on my bicycle wheel and 167.4 yards on my great wheel. Not a lot compared with others but, I am pleased. I will be demonstrating with my guild at our local county fair soon. I have some fine merino I want to prepare. Thinking of hand cards or on a drum carder with a fine drum. How would you prepare it?
Thank you 😊 That is some good spinning results 💜 I never even counted my yardage this year😹 So unlike my usual TdF efforts🤪 If you are preparing for the demo, you might find rolags made on the hand cards a better option. Grabbing one rolag at a time rather than a batt might keep the fiber less handled and easier managed when doing a demo (chatting etc). Of course the drum carder might be faster prep, and you could simply prep for the demo by separating the batt into strips before the event. If you go with the hand card option, consider taking fiber and hand cards to the fair so you can prep some there - another demo to share😸
I had my own excess dye issue lol I spun up a blue dyed fibre and got the dye all over my good spindle and my fingers :( I had no idea it would happen so it took me by surprise. I have no idea how I am going to use the wool if the dye keeps coming out every time I handle it lol
You can soak the yarn in water, add some distilled vinegar, and heat it for 2 minutes in your microwave, reheat 1 minute after it cools for 5 minutes or so. Then let it cool for an hour. That might help set the dye if it hasn’t fully set. Then soak, rinse, repeat. Eventually the water will be clear or only light blue tint, Blue is an interesting one when it lightly bleeds since in the past people actually added a blue tint to the wash water to make whites look more white😸
