I bought a DeWalt cordless pole saw last year, and I've been happy with it. I thought about making a video, but I would have needed to borrow your disclaimer, because I was making poor life choices.
I have the same design of stihl pole saw and have used it and owned it for 12 years and it’s a great saw and is easy to telescope and worth all the money
Have used that same model of saw for 15+ years, still starts first couple pulls. When storing it we have found that you should drain the bar oil before you put it away, that plastic tank leaks if it is anyway off level for any length of time. Yes, we have tried replacing the tank and new ones leak after a year or so.
I saw all that brush and thought you were going to show a wood chipper, lol. Stihl does make great stuff. Looks a lot better with the trees trimmed back from the buildings. Thanks for sharing and I'll see you later.
Wood Chipper? I bought one that my wife wanted to make mulch and it has had some, very little brush, put through it, the best thing was when I ran a big amount of plastic drink bottles through it. I spread them over the neighbor's field, and him being almost blind, it puzzled him why his field sparkled. His son-in-law farms it and he bought into the joke by telling him "Nothing sparkles in that field"
Great new toy, the only problem is that it is fun to cut stuff up high but not so much fun to pick it all up and haul it to the burn pile. My bride of 60 years always wants me to cut up all of the downed limbs from winter storms. She promises that she is going to pick them up, put them in the trailer, and haul them to the burn pile. As one of the first Certified Women Firefighters in IL she has a fixation with fire and loves to burn stuff. However, I usually have to mow around the cut piles and maybe haul them to the burn pile. Planting season is well underway, you need to get ready to put beans and then corn in the ground. July is fast approaching.
Now that is what I would love to have, and if I had your money I'd get one!😁It looks really nice and does a good job and I do have three different dealers within 30 minutes from my farm. Thanks for sharing.
Been doing the same thing trying to clean up the edge of the meadows. You sure can feel it after a while is right. It's nice when it's all done though. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
You’re definitely thinking correctly by not loaning out. We have a Stihl that got borrowed by family member when it returned pole was bent. Never worked correctly until pole and shaft inside was replaced. They are great tools very handy getting all the branches that rip off lights and scratch the paint.
This is just one of those things that has about a 90% chance of getting damaged so there’s no point of loaning it out. If I break it, I can only be mad at myself.
I’ve got so many trees that need trimmed around hay fields.i have a DeWalt cordless I really like but I think I’m do for a gas powered stihl after seeings yours
I bought an Echo pole saw a couple years ago and it’s one of the handiest tools I have. The day I got it I used the heck out of it. The next day I couldn’t hardly lift a coffee cup my arms were so numb. A guy told me once there are two things he will not loan out, his chainsaw and his ol lady. Didn’t want a rod thrown in either one.
I’ve run one of those pole saws for years. They work fine but keep an eye out on the tightening nut for the extension because I’ve lost them already. Before you bought that one you should have checked your trusty Dewalt catalog for their electric pole saw. Their 60 volt will be a lot more better and less tiresome to use. Also if you put that battery in your 1/2 impact you’ll be amazed at the difference
Looks like you'll get a quick return on your investment. Lots safer than working off a ladder or a loader bucket. We've had good luck with our Stihl saws and weed eater !!!
Thanks for this great review! I'm considering the HT131 or the HT 135. It's a hard choice due to the price difference. I need to trim a lot of 3/4" and less branches of the main limbs that are hanging low. I have a question if you don't mind; How would this saw be for cutting those back since most of them are on an angle? Thanks again.... Great job!! 👍
Ross, the WORST thing about a pole-saw is the amount of mess you can make in about no time! Takes forever to clean-up when done. Once you get caught up it's pretty easy to maintain.
There's a coincidence; i bought a pole saw last fall to trim branches so they wouldn't fall on my truck in the driveway. Unfortunately it burned up in the fire two weeks ago along with everything else i owned. At least i don't have to trim any more branches.
Hey Ross the Chainsaw man. Would you come trim my trees in exchange for some Oliver parts and equipment? 😂😂😂😂😂 Thats a nice saw. I never had a poll saw but i could use one about 2 times a year.
I'm with you. No one borrows my Stihl and I have many tools from Stihl.
I don’t like being a jerk, but I hate it when people bring stuff back broke.
I have got the old fashioned muscle powered pole saw and it will make you feel the burn of sadness 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Dr Ross the tree surgeon.
More like the tree butcher 🤣🤣🤣
i love the look of them old buildings, *moo oink hehaw* what people think its your building do what you want with it
Thanks!

Does it work as a defense tool against a Rossquach attack?
@@bigun447 😂😂😂 it can keep a RossSquatch at least 10 foot away. Just keep a spare battery, or a 6 pack and some beef jerky.
@@ThatOliverGuyChris 6 pack of batteries or some beverage? Are you baiting a trap with the jerky?
Just remember Ross, rickety building are where best treasures are found.
So true!!

Awesome video
Always thought of getting a trimmer like that, but i'm too cheap and I can't even borrow yours! Ha!
🤣🤣🤣
I got a troy built and it's a 4 cycle motor even got a fitting for my drill and use the drill bit thing-a-ma-jig for starting it
you better find a really good hiding spot for it
🤣🤣🤣

Cool! Thanks for the info. I’ll try to remember to do that.
I have that one too, love it. And it being a 4 stroke makes it a little torque monster.
It definitely has good power!
Looks like you can really get something done with that thing.

Great video Ross. You could get a sales job with the Stihl company. You sold me on it and I'm a tough sell. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Keith!! You won’t be sorry, it’s great.

Very nice looking pole saw Ross. Don’t forget to keep it lubed up. I really need to borrow it when you done with the spring clean up.
🤣 Thanks Ronald!!

Can't go wrong with a Stihl.
Agree!!
Come on Ross I really want to borrow that thing
Another great purchase on your part. We sell those at the dealership where I work and they are quite popular and give great service.
I’m very impressed with it so far.
You force me to ask, Ross….Can I borrow your pole saw?? 😆
🤣🤣🤣
I’ve got one of my own but,,,,,,can I borrow yours?😂😂
Stihl is hands down in my opinion the best brand in saws you can buy, very reliable. Great buy Ross, you'll get a lot of use out of that.
I agree. It’s great stuff.
I’ve got so many trees that need trimmed around hay fields.i have a DeWalt cordless I really like but I think I’m do for a gas powered stihl after seeings yours
Cool! I thought about the dewalt but I’ve got so much to do far from the house I know I’d constantly be changing batteries.
@@rosstheoliverman they’re handy for a quick zip and snip but not for what you’re doing. I’m seriously considering a stihl like yours
Think I'll probably go with Milwaukee FUEL products cuz they get the job done and I've not had any problems with them

Nice ! Thought you already had chickens!
Only when Ross uses curse words 😂
Great buy!!
Thanks John!
It's much easier to buy whatever you need than borrowing cuz you'll always have it at your house

I've got the HT103 which is the smaller version of the HT131. It has a 12inch bar and the locking collar you talked about. It's a great pole saw too.
I’m impressed that’s real work 😮. It’s always rewarding getting things of ones todo list. Looks good
Nice saw!! Looks like it really does a nice job Ross.
The cordless ones work really good
I almost went that route.
Looks like you'll get a quick return on your investment. Lots safer than working off a ladder or a loader bucket. We've had good luck with our Stihl saws and weed eater !!!

Thanks 👍
I have that same one and love it!
Awesome!

Well that's a bummer. Hope the insurance company doesn't screw you out of what you are owed. Good luck.
Save the strap for it,when you’re 30 years older it might come in handy
Good idea!
Never lend anything you want to keep out, that's my motto 😅
Agree!
I wonder if ur pops felt that way about his gleaner combine .its mine nobodys gonna use it but me .see.
Then comes the laborious task of disposal.
I'm really disappointed that I can't borrow your pole saw. 😔😔😔😔😔 I guess I'll just have to keep borrowing my friend Cory's.
🤣🤣🤣
Hey can I borrow that new pole saw?
Get in line 🤣🤣🤣

Looks like ya gotta be paying attention so the branch you cut don't fall on you and kick your but
Can I borrow ur cubcadet saw. Lol
your are like me i could wear one out lol
I have 7 years of trimming easy 🤣
Thank you for not joining the electric or else club
I like my electric weed eater, but a saw needs to be gas. Too much power demand.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
Why so selfish??? Pass that full extension around the neighborhood!
🤣🤣🤣
Not worth fixing old wore out trimmer. Junk 🍻
Yeah. It doesn’t have hardly any hours on it, it just wasn’t great.
@@rosstheoliverman Red pliers do great things but don't fix junk 🍻
