    I see lots of work happening with that in the future!

      For sure. I used it this weekend. Time to get ready for deer season. Lots of pruning.

    Seems quite light. I'm thinking of getting a battery-powered one but the weight worries me as I'm not a spring chicken.

      It is not bad for the power. Matching the right tool to the job is important. For years I just used a manual Fiskars. Thanks for the comment!

    Ive never used a pole saw, id imagine the blade getting pinched a lot? what the technique to prevent?

    • @cedarvalleyoutdoors
      @cedarvalleyoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The key is to make an under cut first, then the top cut. Will cut off clean and won’t peel the bark either. Small limbs don’t matter the chain cuts though fast enough not to pinch. Thanks for the comment!

    I noticed that the limbs you cut were only near miss from hitting you where as if you're extention was longer you you

    That saw is not rated at 14 ft long reach according to the website on sthils page. Echos ppt - 2620 h only extends 144 inches std. Just slightly edging out the sthil on overall length. Echo can be extended four more foot with the extended tube. I would say it would be heavy though.

      Thanks for the added info. You are right, it would get a little tough at that extension.

      Thanks. I have one for felling, I definitely need to add that for overhead pruning.

    I bought the Stihl Kombi system. I have the one motor with multiple attachments including the pole chainsaw.

      That is a great way to get lots of capability. That may be the best way to go.

    These have so much torque you can run a 14inch bar on them with 3/8lp 043 chain no other saw come close to the power these have

    That saw is heavy as hell. Putting the shoulder harness on limits your reach big time.
    Mine is new and it keep disconnecting and stops the saw blade. It runs great but I hate using because it doesn't reach much ( 14' may seem like a lot but it's not ) even with a latter.

    • @cedarvalleyoutdoors
      @cedarvalleyoutdoors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are right. I have to take the harness off for more height.

    It makes lot more since to me to have a pole saw with the blade at 45 angle, when blade is straight it's easier to get pinched, and on branch 12ft high that would ruin my day..........

    $800 for something you may use once a year

      You have a point.

    • @cedarvalleyoutdoors
      @cedarvalleyoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would be hard to justify for once a year use for sure. I have to use a pole saw more than most people so I bit the bullet. You would be surprised how many friends ask to borrow too….

      Use can lease it out to friends and family. I let everyone else pay for my tools versus paying 2k for someone else to do it

    A never-asked important Q: Why don't electric pole saws have their motor located at the base near the handle and hands?! Putting a quite heavy electric motor at the far end of an electric pole saw makes them notoriously top-heavy and hard work to move around. So has noone ever converted a gasoline chainsaw to electric by simply replacing the combustion engine with an electric motor at the the pole saw's base NOT at the far end of the long pole ? If not why not?!

      Good point. That would make sense to set them up that way.

    You would not have to stand directly under what you cut

    Upgraded to Milwaukee m18 pole saw, will never pickup my stihl again. Anyone in the market for a pole saw needs to do their homework before buying the Stihl.
