    I've been advocating for Lego Castle modulars for a while now. I'd start with towers, castle walls, gatehouses, maybe a keep or don jon, bailey buildings (smithy, stables, barracks, armory, chapel, kitchens, and the like), as well as medieval town buildings in the same style and scale but intended to plug into each other rather than the castle. The idea would be to make an easily customizable castle, including both military and civilian elements, with a matching town or village which can easily be arranged to taste.

    I think modular village set would be amazing castle is not a kid team Lego would make more money if they released 3-5 small less 200 dollars set so people who could not afford the lion knights castle medieval town square can have so castle set. I think is lego released a moudalr village with black Smith and bakery tye the next year a inn and tailors and the next year 2 more you get the idea. Maybe on comes out in summer and the in winter. Could make so castle fan can spread out the purchase to multiple small spread out then spending all the money on a big set at once and if all the village set are moudalr it would be amazing to see people medieval layout like you see with the modular buildings

    Between the bricklink mountain fortress, castle in the fortress (and new upcoming forestmen set), and upcoming siege and seaside village, I think there's a lot to come that all fit together nicely. Those all seem to be at the same scale, and bring the two most popular Factions back to life nicely

    I like the idea of a modularity but feel like it would be fairly square/cookie cutter looking (e.g. 2013 castle). The Lion Knight Castle has angles which makes it feel more realistic/organic. I'd just be happy with a consistent design theme with multiple sets available at the same time rather than the one-off designs that aren't cohesive between sets.

      that is a great point, I like that each thing can be its own thing and I can just set them in random places and not feel like it all has to be together since these thigns take up a lot of space and have lots of angles. a great way to expand the modularity though would be to add a central courtyard in the middle of the 2 sections. Hopefully they have sold enough to think about that... but I doubt it so I am just making my own. and really makes the scale of the castle look even more imposing

    i think the bricklink designer program lineup for the next couple years is sufficient.

    I think the town square, forest hide out, and mjistos house all go together nicely. Then there are the vikings which also work in this world. The 3 in 1 is more for kids play than a bvig 4,500 piece mega set, but it is also one of the best for creative mocs. The only real outlier is the blacksmith which is just not a good scale for lego, if they had done a scale like that for the castle it might have been $1000. Hopefully all other ideas will align to the castle scale and keep building on the cohesive town and give us representation of other factions. It would be really cool if Lego made a center courtyard and tower to expand the lions knight castle... but since they likely wont, I am working on something myself and I kinda like that its so easy to keep the 2 sides, and do the lego thing and create something ourselves.

    I would love a medieval modular line, but my wallet would for sure beg to differ. We have the blacksmith, but you could have a number of other buildings, like a larger tavern/inn, stables, barracks, workshops, bakery, farm houses/windmill, dock/harbor, watchtower. So many options!

      Honestly for me it would be easier to buy couple of modular than buying 1 large castle.
      They could be doing something similar as what they are doing with Howartz

    I definitely think they should make it a theme

    Very good video.
    Since the Lion knights castle opens up, I can totally see a set that can open the same way or connect to the open castle to make it larger.
    Making the Lion knights castle the center of a modular system can give the castle longer shelf life and make for an adult oriented theme.

    It'd be great to have any new full fledged castle theme but I like the idea of modular castles and retro castle themes. I think we all agree we just need some affordable sets. They can totally make adult style sets that are affordable

    I think modular sets limits the scope of a set line too much. The 2013 line killed Lego castle because they failed to evolve the set lineup since the 80s. Castles were still the same basic structure, most sets were just updated versions of towers and caravans from 30 years earlier. It was all focus on one or two factions, with no actual characteristics to make people invested or any new scenarios to play out.
    If Lego castle were to become a successful set line again, it needs to expand in its scope and theme. We need the variety between all the sets, and a modular system is the opposite of variety. Lego can not only cater to the narrow fan base who only likes army building generic animal-logo football players in armor.
    There are two ways I can see Lego do this. Either a story and character focused line like Ninjago, or expand the theme into more aspects of medieval fantasy like DnD.

      I think they have done quite a evolution with the more town focused builds... the castle is half doll house which I find very refreshing it was not all military based. I get so much sparks of imagination with the dynamics of the towns people. The town square being a great next step. and I dont think it would help if they were meant to connect to each other, I like I can place them where I want. and woirk on a moc to expand the center of the castle.

    I love your builds and your concepts. I prefer the modern style of building, but I do have a soft spot for classic castle as well.

    I really enjoyed your insight into the Lego Castle System. I think a modular system would be exciting and well received by the Lego Castle Community. I think they could and still have the potential to create a system like the Ninjago City line, where each year they add a set to expand out the town. For this I would suggest that they continue adding to the new and current Market set and add new merchants each year. As for other sets, there are the bricklink designer series which are Lego approved. The first being a large fortress. However I wish though these sets weren't so limited and were available directly through Lego. It will be interesting to see if were will get more D&D sets and LotR sets past what has already been announced.

    Wasn’t the 3 in 1 Castle kind of modular with its own alternate builds?

    • @BB2O2

      In a way! I wasn't very impressed with that system though, even the main build is fragile

    I can't wait to build an expandable castle, actually i'm allready building something like that. But buying it "pick a brick" wich makes it a slow and costly endavour... out of all the castle themed suff i prefere the blacksmith build. The scale and detail just work for me. This will make it huge but i think it is the way to go for Lego.... how cool would it be to be able to change your modular castle to fit a festive theme or a battle, make it historical accurate with a vikingseige. Get battle packs or festive packs with special minnifigs and stuff....

    Thinking of getting 2 of the Medieval seaside market set and making a castle out of them as they are modular and like half a castle, might get the siege set as well if the cash is willing.

    oto see something like a city of lanterns style castle. could have 'modules' as other sets.

    Nice conversation. I love the concept of modularity, and would love to see it. That said, while I would love it and totally buy it all at an expert/adult price point, I would rather see some variation that included smaller sets too.

    • @BB2O2
      @BB2O2  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Totally with you there. What would you call "smaller"? I would guess like the 80's system but scaled up?

    • @TX_Blake
      @TX_Blake 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BB2O2 that sounds right. Maybe something like 6062 Battering Ram with 20-30% more bricks to the wall build.

    My only sad feeling I had after building the Lion Knight's castle was when I placed it on the shelf next to the Medieval Blacksmith set. The scale is so off.

    • @jacobelmslie3862

      perhaps make a moc of a central courtyard and tower between the 2 sides that will broaden the castle... but yeah the scale is why i didnt get the blacksmith, though I kinda wish I had since I like the mocs people make with it
