@@GreenAquaShop I didn't know much about Oase brand until Dennis Wong mentioned it in his website. But I'm an Eheim guy at heart....gotta love those green J pipes...haha
Haha, Eheim is a good company and we use their big filters everywhere. Oase is the market-leader in the pond, and they just recently (2-3 years ago if I remember well?) started making stuff for aquariums... But they are growing fast, and come up with innovative stuff.
I don’t understand his POV on sponge. IMO it’s some of the best to house beneficial bacteria. I think this can be misleading to new hobbyist. I run sponge as well as matrix. I also run floss on top of the sponge to catch particulates before they get to the mag of matrix to help keep it clean and free of clogging the surface area.
There is way to much focus on the media. These people aren't scientists so they really don't know what they are talking about all that much. A canister full of sponges is enough, even a good internal filter is enough. Especially with plants. There is more than enough bacteria in the tank. The main thing is you need to keep the water moving and remove the waste and particles. A filter which is too small will clogg up quickly, not cause a shortage of bacteria. The size of the filter vs the tank is based on a calculation, the water companies do simlar for the tap water supply. But you don't really need a Oase biomaster 600 for a 80L tank, it's a waste of money.
Your videos are the only aquascaping videos that I will watch twice! also Green Aqua makes me looking forward to Thursdays!! I'm using the Oase 600, good easy filter.
So..... I bought Oase Thermo 600 and I can say Unbelievable Filter. I didn recognise its SO amazing and Quiet. Like you say...... Spend money for filtration as possible more. I absolutely Recommend every one that filter!!
I needed this, thank you. I am in the process of getting everything together for my fist tank, in over 30 years. It will be small, 55 liters and what kind of filter to get was giving me a head ache. Now I know :) Thanks again. Your tutorials are a blessing and your tanks are joyous marvels. Keep on scaping and posting :)

Great and informative video!!!, I got 4L bucket of Seachen Matrix in a Oase Biomaster Thermo 350. And the orange sponge on top. Fits perfectly together, it's the perfect ammount.
You Sir, make the best videos!! Classy, and very concise!! Your information is easy to understand, and very educational!! To top it off, you’re funny!! Great job, you’ve inspired me to reenter the hobby!!
I've learnt something today thanks very much. It may seem technical but I think it's pretty simple when you get a grasp of it. It's given me food for thought with the setups I'm running and why one may perhaps be suffering cause of filtration and the other doing much better with hardly any maintainance (they are both internal filters)
Have seen many people currently bashing sponges in canisters. But its the one filtration method that I find works the best - for cleaning and just ease of general maintenance.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. Yeah, sponges could work just fine in many cases, but we found that a good size filter and pro filter media in it will help enormously with algae and it will lengthen the time between the necessary maintenance sessions as well.
Beautifully produced video, excellent information, and best of all that aquarium room looks like heaven on earth! Too bad you are so far away!! Your tanks are absolutely stunning, thank you for sharing. I wish we had a place like this near me, our stores are much less loved.
'B' your videos are always educational without so much commentary. THANK YOU! I've learned so much in such little time. this will save so much time on choosing my next filter. I always enjoy watching and learning from your videos. Although, I am not planning on high tech aquariums, I do find the information so helpful to be better at what I am doing. I always want to be the best fish guardian and if they are going to live in little water boxes, they should have the best space, filtration, food, lighting and attention. Cheers!
i still like this episode most, the product info and the music (i downloaded into my hp), and the host :D sometimes it is good to revisit the old episodes
Hello! I would like to thank you for the excellent tips! The channel is helping me a lot in knowledge and also in the artistic part, in the development of the aquarium layout. Hugs from Brazil!!
Good one. We're using multiple mediums, but this seems to fit the best for our needs. Does not change the water chemistry, not clogs in the filter, not erode over time and because the grain size you do not loose major filter flow. This is not a bad thing at all :)
Thanks for the information and I like what you guys said that it does not clog and erode. The label of the Seachem Matrix label says that the media removes nitrates. Would that be a problem in a planted tank when dosing nitrates? I got curious about that.
Maybe in a larger amount this removes nitrate, but we've not experienced it. Seachem has another filter material called De*Nitrate that is the one for nitrate removal. We used it with EI fertilizer system (with high nitrates) and ADA too (low nitrates) but not experienced issues.
I use eco pro130 with matrix plus a normal dose of Fluorish Exel for 50L, the result is perfect, you're right, it's a good combination. Greetings from Poland
With my first planted aquarium, these are my observations. In the past, the filter was the most important part of the setup. In this aquarium, the plants are the most important part of filtration. I added plants and let them acclimate to the water they found themselves in for a week. Then I added life, snails first....On the first day of the 3rd week, I added fish. What resulted was 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and the plants grew like they were infused with Co2. They filtered out anything that can harm life quicker than it could accumulate. I also modified the filter so that it would be lower flow. That plug in filter is nothing more than something to help move the water around. The plants themselves are doing it all and more than any filter a human can create.
Yeah, we made more of a tutorial this time than an inspirational or entertaining video. We are planning to have more of this type of content up in the future...
Great video! Simple explanations that everybody could understand(except 60x5=3500 :) ). Some of the guidelines are very useful for a person who's wondering what to choose, especially when he/she see your scapes. Just one remark, it is good to put medium/fine pad and/or filler floss after the course pad and before the biological media. This way the biological media will get clogged less.
Haha, I don't even understand that in retrospective... 😂Thanks for your suggestion, but I would still put the fine filter floss after the bio media, because firstly you need to clean your filter once every month or so anyway, rinsing the bio media and getting rid of anything that might have got caught there, secondly if you put the floss before the bio media your filter flow will be restricted a lot sooner by that being clogged... Just a quick note: ADA do not even use floss in their filters, so you might even got by without that.
Thank you Green Aqua! I was truely hoping to get an information about using a bigger sized filter for my ADA 60P Aquarium. I was currently checking to use an JBL e402 external filter but you are also using an BioMaster 250 for your 60P. That was really neccessary to watch! Thank you very much for the information and in advance for the high quality content about filtration!
Glad that you'll get a good filter, I'm sure you'll be happy with it in the long run. (We have a BioMaster 600 under one of our 60P tanks, I know it's an overkill, but the flow is not too much, and it's a perfect ecosystem in there).
Great vid again Balazs. I fully get what your telling about filtration, but where people go wrong is to rely on a filter and forget to do maintenance every week or so, Get your hands wet people , you have to keep it clean yourself. Like you said Balazs a canister filter is like a small sump, so for your bacteria and flow( circulation). Especially when your Aquascaping and taking the tank apart and clean it often a canister or sump is your backup in bacteria world. I hope you have a calculator, count on that. LOL
I think though potentially if you have the right equipment and balance, maintainance could well be minimised. This vid gives you a greater chance of that I reckon 👍
Oh absolutely, like you need to clean a bigger filter only once every 4 months or so, whilst with a smaller one you are out there cleaning it every 3 weeks. I've seen that.
Thank you, Balasz. That guide came just in time for me. I just bought my first ADA 60-P two weeks ago - because i want start to begin that hobby as an absolute aqua-noob. Since two weeks i am thinking about what a filter to buy. I changed daily my mind between ADA-ES 650 , Oase Biomaster 250 Thermo, Eheim Professional 4+ 250T. Your video gave me new perspectives to rethink about - and i am glad that none of the filters was avaible for me the every time i decided to buy one during the last two weeks. With your guide i am nearer to make a better dicision. Thank you , again \(^_^)/ greetings from germany, that helped a lot, Balasz
Thanks for your feedback :) As a quick tip, we never use heaters in our aquariums. The best results came with cooler water. Under 25C. If the room temp is not too low the tank will be fine without any heating. Have fun on your next aquascaping project and we're here to help in case if you need that. 😃🐠

I love all guiding videos from Green Aqua, what beatiful videos they are. thanks for sharing those useful experiences. I plan to build a 120 tank but I am a complete beginner, I hope you guys could provide some videos including the whole aquarium system setup process step by step. such as how to connect each part of filtration and co2 system, what installation sequence of them, etc. Thank you!
Well, that is a topic we definitely do not want to cover separately - but we might talk about it in one of our future tutorials, thanks so much for your suggestion. We think that dosing is really straightforward. Just use a good quality aquascaping fertilizer (we use our own Green Aqua brand as well as the ADA range in our gallery) and dose according to the brand recommendations.
Green Aqua something that is not covered enough is spotting nutrient deficiency. Recommended dose might not be appropriate if you have a lightly planted tank or heavy planted. Sometimes you have to visually inspect the plants and adjust. Can you cover this sometime ?
Sixty liter multiplied by 5 is 300 liters, not 350. Anyway this is a great video and answers a lot of common questions. Thanks for putting it together. :)
How do you manage the crazy flow of the big BioMaster filter in the 60L? You say you can never have too much filtration but I don't understand why the 60L tank doesn't look like a hurricane
This helped a lot in finding a good bio media, but something I think should be mentioned as well is the importance of substrate in this process a good deep substrate bed will hold a lot of beneficial bacteria, the one thing that may put this in check is if you have a full carpet of something thick like "montecarlo" witch will reduce the flow trough the substrate.
Sintered glass biomedia are excellent in producing aerobic and anaerobic bacteria's colonization. And yes substrate layers holds beneficial bacteria like crushed lava rocks or power sand as a base.

Your videos are the only aquascaping videos that I will watch twice! also Green Aqua makes me looking forward to Thursdays!! I'm using the Oase 600, good easy filter.
So great! Thanks, really glad to get feedback like that, as I said, it keeps us going. Cheers! 🙏🏻👍🏻
So..... I bought Oase Thermo 600 and I can say Unbelievable Filter. I didn recognise its SO amazing and Quiet. Like you say...... Spend money for filtration as possible more. I absolutely Recommend every one that filter!!
That's what I'm talking about yeah! Thanks for backing up my message, you're great!
Glad to be of help! I'm sure that with strong biological filtration you'll be able to build beautiful scapes. Stay tuned for more inspiration and entertainment from us. 👍🏻
I used the Seachem product line in my 220G Amazonian tank and was extremely pleased with the results.
Yeah, Seachem is a good company.
HI GUYS, another TOP video crammed full of really useful information, great work , looking forward to the next one.
Thank you for your words Terry. Appreciate your support 😃
love simple but clear introductions for beginner like me to prepare a tank!!
Glad you found this useful! Stay tuned for our other tutorial videos.

Hello, thanks for the experience! I have a question: I am planning to buy an EHEIM 5e 350 for my DENNERLE TANK 70. Wouldn't that be overkill? And what do you think of this filter?

Привет, спасибо за опыт! У меня вопрос: Я планирую приобрести EHEIM 5e 350 для своего DENNERLE TANK 70. Не будет ли это перебором? И что вы думаете об этом фильтре?)
thanks to this video i bought a Oase biomaster thermo 600 with Seachen Matrix 👍
Sounds good. Enjoy the ride in the hobby 😃
Great and informative video!!!, I got 4L bucket of Seachen Matrix in a Oase Biomaster Thermo 350. And the orange sponge on top. Fits perfectly together, it's the perfect ammount.
High quality video in content and production. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching us. :)
Simply stunning.. very informative.. Great work guys
Thanks! Glad you found this useful.
You Sir, make the best videos!! Classy, and very concise!! Your information is easy to understand, and very educational!! To top it off, you’re funny!! Great job, you’ve inspired me to reenter the hobby!!
Cool! Mission accomplished! Really glad for that, enjoy your tank once more. Stay Tubed too for more from us.
I've learnt something today thanks very much. It may seem technical but I think it's pretty simple when you get a grasp of it. It's given me food for thought with the setups I'm running and why one may perhaps be suffering cause of filtration and the other doing much better with hardly any maintainance (they are both internal filters)
Yeah, I was trying to avoid being technical as much as possible. Thanks for your feedback Steve! 🙏🏻👍🏻
@@GreenAquaShop you're very welcome, thanks a lot for your help and informative videos 🙏
I enjoy your videos and sense of humor. 😎🖖✌️
Thanks! Glad you like the videos and the style! Cheers.
massively helpful, and so well delivered, simple and to the point, thank you
You're welcome, glad you found this useful!
Outstanding presentation, very value added. Thank you.
Thanks a lot, Donald. :)
Cheers!
Thanks, Cheers 🤗
Great info Balazs. You really have a cool unique way of putting across information! Thanks for this info and your efforts. Much appreciated!
Thanks so much Shawn, really happy that you liked the way I presented it. 🙏🏻👍🏻
i still like this episode most, the product info and the music (i downloaded into my hp), and the host :D sometimes it is good to revisit the old episodes
Thank for your support 😄
Love the flow and production of this video. Awesome!
Thanks so much, your feedback means a lot to us. 🙏🏻👍🏻
Hello! I would like to thank you for the excellent tips! The channel is helping me a lot in knowledge and also in the artistic part, in the development of the aquarium layout. Hugs from Brazil!!
I so admire n jealous with all your filter hose tube are so clean so new look everyday
Yup cleaning every 2 weeks! No lazyness here 😃
@@GreenAquaShop ha ha ok ok

Very informative and the video came across well for beginners. All the best Aengus
Oh, thanks for that feedback, it's good to know, we always wonder how the different topics come through in our vids for the different people. 👍🏻
Thanks to you guys I bought some Seachem Matrix and am now using it on my filters. Lol.
Very good presentation ! Very simple , good informations .
Thanks for watching and your words 👍
I use eco pro130 with matrix plus a normal dose of Fluorish Exel for 50L, the result is perfect, you're right, it's a good combination. Greetings from Poland
Greetings!
This is exactly what I was looking for!
Cheers Bryce.
Thanks for the watching.

Cheers Bryce, glad you found this useful.
Thanks, good you mentioned about inflow and outflow on the same side. I heard lots of people saying opposites of eachother.
i love these videos they are always filled with information you can use on your own tanks and they are verry funny hahah keep up the great work guys
Yeah, we made more of a tutorial this time than an inspirational or entertaining video. We are planning to have more of this type of content up in the future...
@@GreenAquaShop i cant wait i love the videos and thanks for responding that made my day
Super Ragnar, have a nice day and stay tuned! 👍🏻
This is really some good quality content, subbed 👊
Thanks for the support 👍
Thank you very much for such an informative and useful video!
Glad you found it useful. Cheers.
Great video and learned alot. I orded the mateix and purigen and a bit of eheim substrat pro. 👍
Megint nagyon hasznos videó. Köszönjük!
Szívesen Gyula! Köszi a hozzászólást. 👍🏻
Extremely well explained. Great job
Thank you 👍😊
great and simple. all my questions were answered
So glad to read this. Mission accomplished!
New Green Aqua T-shirt: 60x5=350!:) Awesome video again!
Good idea Attila. 😂Balázs the team's math genious. Should get more days off. TH-cam is a killer.🤪
Hey this Video I like very much because it was so simple an also includes the important information. Great job guys!
Thank you for your words Andreas, glad you enjoyed. 👍
LOL
Thanks Ed, yeah, maintenance and water changes help the filter, that is important, thanks for emphasising on that!
Your good at informing us. Thank u brother
You're welcome, brother. Cheers.
Man… I learn so much from Green Aqua!
Bought the oase biofilter and I love it!
It is a good filter. Glad you are happy with it.

Thank you!

@@GreenAquaShop 😄👏🏻
Very in depth 👍thanks for all the explanation
You're welcome, thanks for commenting regulary! Feedback is very important to us to keep us going. Cheers!
Super advice as always :). Make a film about fertilization. It's very important in our aquariums. I will be very grateful. :) :)
Hello,
Great video thanks!!! And a question. At 0:22 are a beautiful small fish. What kind is that?
Super helpful video. Thanks!
Just about to upgrade to a aquaone 1250 external filter. Thanks again.
Thanks Samuel. :)
Sixty liter multiplied by 5 is 300 liters, not 350. Anyway this is a great video and answers a lot of common questions. Thanks for putting it together. :)
Very bad at math, LOL. :)
Sera Siporax is the best media ive ever had ! No other media was that good!
If you're happy with that do not change. 😃
How do you manage the crazy flow of the big BioMaster filter in the 60L? You say you can never have too much filtration but I don't understand why the 60L tank doesn't look like a hurricane
Thank u so much for the Informations. Loved it 😍
You're welcome, glad you found this useful.
Thank You. Great material as always.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers.
Very good video. Thank you for the information!!
You are welcome, glad you like it! 🙏🏻👍🏻
Nice and very important program
