      I'd like to ad that in certain situations you can have air in the system formed by cavitation at the impeller. This is caused bij restrictions on the vacuumend (intake) of the filter. In my case it was an inline heater that restricted flow (JBL 1902 so 16 mm hose with a 13 mm heater). Takeaway for me was that mixing hose sizes to save money ended up costing me more in the longrun becouse the impeller had visible damage from cavitation. Hope it helps someone out there. Oh and keep up the good work guys!

      @@timmyfane9680 Yes, and for that particular reason most quality filters have flow restrictors on intake and outflow. User must set both on the same position. I got this tip from Oase support when I was consulting regarding FiltoSmart 60 flow. This is another great thing about more established brands, support. Thanks to OASE UK wonderful employee Charlotte.

      Does Oase ever contact you for users' opinion or reviews of their product (in order to help them create their next model) or does this partnership limitates itself to the sponsoring?

      1- Why do you never talk about fluval fx filters?
      2- People like the youtuber pondguru rave about biohome ultimate. He states that it can remove nitrates , because it can acommodate anaerobic bacteria. Is it actually true? And how does it compare to seachem matrix?
      Would appreciate a reply! Love your videos!

    Im suprised that a channel like this recommend you to use VASELINE on your O-rings!! This is a well known NO NO! Vaseline is a petrolium based produkt and must never be used on silicone o-rings! Petrolium destroys silicone! Use slicone grease made for water tap o-rings!

    6:32 you are comparing the quality of a JBL to the Oase Filto Smart, Talking about noise. One point I want to make here: the JBL is a lot less noisy and way better in handling. I’ve had both, but Filto smart is overall 👎🏼👎🏼

    The Green Aqua filter media configuration isn't the 'conventional' way but after trying it for a few months the results speak for themselves! My water is crystal clear and I don't have to worry about so many layers of different sponges or taking all the media out just to replace the fine filter mesh. Great thinking!

    I don't use any of those filters, they are just too limiting for me. I use a sump, it allows me to keep my tank clear of any equipment, it is much more versatile and it is way way easier when it comes to maintenance and cleaning. I can't have floating plants in my tank because of flow and condensation from aquarium lid but the refugium in my sump is perfect for them. People always ask how I keep my water quality so pristine and stable my first response is always, I use a sump for starters. Now don't get me wrong, I do like canister filters and I have one on one of my tanks ( a Fluval FX6). I always dread having to pull it out and cleaning it though. Yeah I am most definitely a sump guy when it comes to aquariums. Oh and I can run multiple tanks off one sump, try that with a canister filter.
    P.S. I also never have to struggle with priming a sump and no O-Rings to worry about.

    Amazing video as always, except you guys are still heavily advertising Matrix media even though their technology hasn't changed in a long time, I have used everything in the market and done extensive testing with all the filter medias out there and I have to say Aquario Neo media is by far the most advanced media in the market by few folds! Much better water flow and design, 5 times the surface area of the matrix and it doesn't float like matrix! So I am not sure why you guys still advertising Matrix so heavily.
    I ran few tests, same exact setups with Matrix, Aquario Pure , ADA and Substrate Pro.
    Aquario results and filtration capacity were truly mind blowing, will never use Matrix or anything else ever again! Saying Matrix is still the best is like saying iphone 4S is the best phone out there! It sure was, not anymore!

    Firstly thanks for all your videos, ı have learnt so many from them. If ı have Oase biomaster 250 for 60p tank, should ı decrease flow rate? And I saw your some aquariums, you are using bigger external filters in 60p . Do you change filter hose from 16/22mm to 12/16mm? Does it effect the flow rate? Sorry for the questions bombardment :) But waiting your help.

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You might need to reduce flow, it depends on your tank. We always use 12/16 mm hose sizes on 60P tanks. Reducing flow size slightly changes flow rate, but it's not a problem in these cases.

      I tried everything on the oase to stop the humming. . Even a new pump head. Good filter but not for me.
      I'm surprised that green aqua suggested on modding the oase filter to improve it! Speaks volumes that it isn't a problem free filter.
      The next filter I'll be purchasing will be a Aquael ultramax 1500. Has a pre-filter. Very quiet running. Only negative, no internal heater.

    In my aquariums I found surface skimmer useless. My filter outlets are making enought surface agitation to properly push surface scum under water. Another solution for surface scum is seachem pristine.
    Also, changing order of filter media in external filters to filter sponge - filter mesh - bio media - purigen, leads to better NH4 removal, according to my observations. Bio media will never be overloaded with detritus this way.

    One of the biggest things I struggled with while setting up a fancy oase filter: lily pipe sizes. There are a lot of terms, specifications, and info out there on them. Its just not easy to digest. Being American converting things wasn't awful, it was actually understanding the info. I watched a solid hour of videos before placing an order on a substandard set that worked.
    Lily pipes might not be an awful video to make. Maybe? Thats all on you. I love your channel. I love videos like this. Thanks for all the effort you put in. Honest.

      Jaja, ezért mondtam, hogy elvileg nem arra való, hogy vízzel tele nyomogassuk. A legtöbb pumpa egy gumimembránnal van lezárva, ami ugye el tud repedni, öregedni, stb.

      They are great but hardly accessible in the EU. We've been using the smaller ones for many years now. Probably the only thing you need to focus on is running them in a temperature-controlled environment. They do not like hot spaces compared to other plastic canisters where the motor is in the filter.

    Also about the bio media:
    You guys know as well Aquario made the Neo diffusers, and they are really cool.
    They also came out with soil, techs, etc... and Filter media that called Neo Media. By different type (Soft, Pure, and Hard) it can change pH, and they said it has 4000m2/l which can be the best if its true. Can you guys check it in the lab?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've tested it earlier and did not found advantages over our top filter mediums. Maybe in the future we will check in the lab too

    Probably you should make disclaimer that you sell this type of equipment :P i know that biological filtration is the most important thing in fish hobby, but actually it s pretty difficult to spoil it. We can make a bet that you will change every of your filter media into sponges and still maintain all of tanks without any differance. All of the hobbist should try once to learn about nitrification in some biological articles- thing about real habitat of nitrobacter, what it needs to process nitrification and in fact- which elements will be produced in which tank (ammonia isn’t specific term, you have different ions). For the sake of simplicity- why you should need thousands of square meters of surfes to process miligrams of ammonia? In fact you cannot provide enough oxygen and ammonia in most of pores of this type of media. People should know that they really don’t need Big filter and especially expensive media as they are just useless, just dont use anything more than pumice or lava rock. Problems are caused not by surface but by doing everything too fast, bacteria needs almost half a year to stabilize into needs of a tank. When you have problems change your rutines, adding surface to media with keeping wrong actions will push you out of the hobby, because you can change filter 10 times and make no progress.
    P.S. I understand that Big filter in small tank will make it more stable, but not because of higher amount of bacteria (bacteria mass is depending on biological load). It will be more stable because of sheer amount of water volume added to system, you won’t feel it in bigger tanks unless you ll add sump system. In both cases taking it as biological filtration is pretty pointless, just buy bigger tank at the beginning :P

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the disclaimer at the beginning. ;P
      There are many ways to do an algae-free high-light tank, ours is the most popular trend, but what you're saying could work.

      LOL. A csatorna a nemzetközi akvakertész közösség magyarországi központja kíván lenni. Az angol nyelvű tartalom azért is van, mert csak a magyar nézőkből ezt a minőséget nem tudnánk fenntartani. A videókat azonban nem kis erőfeszítéssel és anyagi befektetéssel magyarul is feliratozzuk (nem automatikus feliratokkal, mint a többi nyelvet) - a feliratok ezért általában legkésőbb 24 órával a publikálást követően a rendelkezésre állnak (igyekszünk a videóval és az automata feliratokkal együtt kitenni, de nem mindig érünk a dolgok végére, ha hajnalig dolgozunk a videón). Very informative, but I'm still struggling to see why external filters are superior to internal filters, in other words, why should I want one? Because couldn't I just get a more powerful internal filter if my aquarium isn't too large? e.g 20- 30 gal?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. Canister size is important. Externals are also easier to maintain. Do not take up space in the tank.

    The placement of the fine filter pad isn’t that important. It will always clog first and require opening the canister more often than if you didn’t use one. The biofilm produced by bacteria in the filter can remove particals smaller than a filter pad can.
